The G list: to help with finding a topic look at the words in BOLD print.

The G12 Discipline Movement Explained, Part One & Following   The G12 DISCIPLINE MOVEMENT is sweeping the nation and around the world. Some say that money is the god of this movement, not God and His word. People do not have “bad hearts” just because they wish to investigate or discuss “systems” and “movements” that claim to be of Christ. The introductory article tells briefly of the beginning of the movement. It also includes a warning against the “Women Pastors & the Co-Pastorate Husband and Wife Set Up” in general that is so prevalent in non-denominational churches today. Read the entire series being developed here!

Why Churches Fear Applying “Scriptural Authority” ~ Selected Newspaper Articles Concerning “Scriptural Authority.” Local churches of Christ must continue to be the pillar and support of the truth. These three articles relate to the fear manifested by church leaders who use human wisdom, emotions and lies; their goals are power, prestige, pleasing self and MATERIAL GAIN (Wealth).  Members themselves love their false position that allows them to fulfill their own lusts. These show how secular institutions influenced by Political Correctness have become protectors and enforcers for those who despise God’s Word, thus displaying a lack of respect for “religious” freedom of speech!

Selected Newspaper Articles The following are selected newspaper articles ran by the Valley church of Christ for 2009-2010. We put some together periodically in order to post them on our website. Both churches and preachers would do well to consider that just offering a few scriptural points on important topics can go a long way in helping others. Consider the following points on (1) Why Pentecostal / Charismatic Tactics Easily Deceive; (2) Complaining With No Intention Of Making Things Scriptural; (3) Stupid Kid’s GAMES Draw Customers; (4) Liberation Theology & Marxist Ideology; (5) Human Creeds & Statements of Faith.

“I’m Staying with Zoom” The current pride in technology denominational invite is “Worship online or in person here.” We must be certain that what we do with high tech is scriptural as regards the work and worship of Christ’s church. If “zoom” and “online” are let stray, as some among us already have, then you will have a developed human tradition that will cause many to lose their souls. The impact itself on the body of Christ can be like a spreading spiritual virus in years following upon member’s zeal for assembling (Cf. Eph. 4:14; 2 Tim. 2:17; Heb. 10:24-27). TO “Speak the things proper for sound doctrine you must know the difference between the word “home” and “house” and “houses” and the words “come together as a church” and “assembling of ourselves together” and “in the church.” Read here for proper definitions that lead to proper applications of what it means to “assemble together.”

The kind of SPEAKING DEMANDED is presented in the following points with the definitions given:

1. Showing oneself a lover of the truth is seen in SPEAKING the truth to one another (EPH. 4:20-25).

2. TO SPEAK, EXHORT and rebuke with all authority (TITUS 2:15)

3. PREACHING involves “REPROVE” [G1651], “REBUKE” [G2008] & “EXHORT” [G3870] (CF. 2 TIM. 4:2)

4. QUALIFIED ELDERS BOTH EXHORT (G3870) AND CONVICT or CONVINCE (G1651) THE GAINSAYSERS i.e. THOSE WHO CONTRADICT (G483) (Titus 1:9).

*GAINSAYERS [G483 antilegō] are those who speak against, contradict the truth. Strong’s definition: to dispute, refuse: - answer again, contradict, deny, gainsay (-er), speak against. From G473 anti – “indicating exchange, succession, for, instead of, in the place of” (Thayer 2.) and G3004 legō meaning “to speak, affirm, teach, advise etc. (Cf. Thayer definitions).

Aids & Additions (Expediencies Reviewed)  Most churches never speak out on the necessity of having “scriptural authority” for what one believes and practices. In fact, most are not willing to deal with the subject because of the lack of authority for things they are doing. It is important to know the difference between “aids” used to carry out what is authorized versus “additions” which are things not authorized. This lesson should help with that distinction. Before brethren justify something based upon expediency they must first state the authorized work, need or thing commanded to be done and then proceed to expediencies to carry out the specific thing commanded. Sadly, some brethren will reason on the basis of what they “like” or “enjoy” and seek to incorporate it into the work and worship of the local church while not having scriptural authority to do so. Applications are made to these important topics: (1) Instruction to Assemble; (2) The Example of a Treasury; (3) Why the church building is authorized; (4) Social Functions: Kitchens, Fellowship Halls & GAME ROOMS On Church Grounds; (5) The Assemblies of the church in I Cor. 11, 14; (6) Acts 2:42-46; (7) The Serving of the Widows, Acts 6:1-6.

Hating Homosexuality This article from 1999 relates to the meeting between Jerry Falwell and the so called GAY CHRISTIANS. That’s exactly the way the press presented them. It said they were gay Christians meaning that they were practicing homosexuals and lesbians. The purpose of that meeting was to reduce violence and hatred toward homosexuals. When the press presents practicing homosexual and lesbians as Christians who present themselves in good standing with God then the contradictions from a religious point of view must be exposed! And that's what the article does. It shows clearly how "practicing" homosexuals and lesbians are not to be accepted and fellowshipped in Christ's church.

The Real Sin In Sodom  This article is a reply to a respondent who was delighted with the error that was presented in News Week’s Dec. 15ths feature article “Gay Marriage: Our Mutual Joy.” I wasn’t delighted and had something to say scripturally concerning those who justify the wicked as being an abomination to the Lord (cf. Prov. 17:15).  The following presented ensued as he replied to what I had said. And I in turn to what he said. As I said it centered around the article on GAY MARRIAGE. There is a great of deal scriptural information here concerning what Jesus and inspired writers said about the sin of homosexuality. There are descriptions of Sodom both from the Old and New Testaments.

News Week’s Blunder on the Bible & Gay Marriage News Week’s Dec. 15th issue’s cover has “Gay Marriage: Our Mutual Joy” as its top article. The author says: “Opponents of gay marriage often cite Scripture. But what the Bible teaches about love argues for the other side.” It is evident that the author didn’t know what she was talking about. These short newspaper articles expose a great deal of the error presented on GAY MARRIAGE in this widely circulated article.

News Week’s Blunder on the Bible & Gay Marriage, #2  In this “The Truth In Print” publication for Feb. 2009 you will find mention of a Mr. Knapp who has taken issue with the church’s articles in our local newspaper titled “Newsweek’s Biblical Blunder On The Bible & Gay Marriage.” Included is what he chose to say about us in the opinion column of our newspaper. He has accused our church of using selective scriptures, the effect of which he says is to marginalize and demonize gays and lesbians. There are certain things presented we’d like for others to note concerning his disapproval of our teaching the truth about gay sex. Mr. Knapp is illustrative of how confidence in the social scientific theories of the “present” can lead one. It is obvious as one reads his last paragraph that this confidence has led him to say the opposite of what the Scriptures really do say. For example compare what his last paragraph says with our fourth newspaper article, “News Week’s Biblical Blunder On The Bible & Gay Marriage #4.” The New Testament scriptures do not teach that those who practice GAY SEX sex are to be included in fellowship with members of the local church.

Unitarian / Universalists Having been criticized by a Unitarian / Universalist (See articles titled: “Newsweek’s Biblical Blunder On The Bible & Gay Marriage”) for our series on Newsweek’s blunder --- this article states what Unitarians are all about. You will find that you don’t have to believe in God to be a part of their man made religion!

In The House of Public Issues Here is information on the National Cathedral in D.C. hosting same-sex nuptials. Here is a present example of the fallacy of human conventions making man made laws and binding them on their church. Such displays how corrupt churches really are! This includes a brief history of the Episcopal Church and it progression into GAY MARRIAGE.

Selected Newspaper Articles on Political Correctness You might enjoy reading these newspaper articles as they are grouped together: “Politics Does Not Make Evil to be Good,” “What Presidents Do When They Promote Abortion and GAY MARRIAGE,” “When the Governing Powers Refuse to Listen” and “Women Bishops and GAY MARRIAGE Are Both Sinful.”

Why Churches Fear Applying “Scriptural Authority” ~ Selected Newspaper Articles Concerning “Scriptural Authority.”  Although GAY MARRIAGE is recognized “civilly” by some states that will not make it “spiritually” right in God’s sight (cf. Matt. 19:5-6). Christians have a right to oppose this just like a guest column for the Sun recently explained: “Of course, religious groups have a constitutional right to oppose gay marriage and to refuse to perform same-sex weddings. And as long as we uphold the First Amendment that will continue to be the case.” When a group practicing that which is immoral is given status “civilly” ---- then suddenly it is “hate speech” when others continue as they always have to identify “religiously” a specific immorality; those claiming to be for freedom of speech want censorship while crying Phobia! Hate! All must uniformly speak as “they” else the motives are to be impugned and the characters assassinated.

A great weakness and lack of respect for “religious” freedom of speech is seen in objecting to specific sins being identified and requiring that others speak in generalities.

The Transgender Attack This contains two newspaper articles: 1. Surely Not Shameless ~ The Transgender Directive; 2. Surely Not Living a Lie ~ The Transgender Directive. These present both the spiritual and physical dangers tied to the recent “I think I identify with transgender” decree from President Obama. This is moving quickly in our society and especially so when the media’s bias is presenting the kind of things that promote LGBT (Lesbian, GAY *Homosexual, Bi-sexual, Trans-sexual).

Key points include scriptures on: evil thoughts, evil desire, lewdness, shameless behavior, uncleanness, motives, the mind and depraved passions, the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience who walk and live in immoralities and scriptural points on despising wickedness and immorality.

Unwise Unsuspiciousness (Jer. 40:14)  At times is unwise not to be SUSPICIOUS. This is based upon GEDALIAH’S MISTAKE as recorded by Jeremiah. We see stupidity in the pattern presented by refusing to credit information given by all, and being indignant towards the informant who trying to help and accusing him of lying. “You liar!” You will often hear that when the evidence points to something one doesn’t want to believe. He should have listened.

Selected Newspaper Articles from 2017  These four newspaper articles include: (1) Surely All the Men’s Fault ~ So Called “Forced Heterosexuality” – This inept theory ties itself to “GENDER SELF-IDENTIFICATION.” There is not such thing acceptable before God as a “she” who is the husband of another “she” who is her wife; (2) Surely Empowerment and Courage ~ Abortion; (3) Surely the Ends of the World ~ But Don’t Quit Your Job!; (4)

Various Newspaper Articles Selected from 2020 This selection includes: (1) “A Win for WOMEN” concerning the argument that sex refers to biological sex and does not include “GENDER IDENTITY”; (2) “Worry About Your Soul Today!” is a simple imploration for one to pause and consider the value of their soul and its eternal well being after this life on earth, and that along with needed warnings and examples – one of which is a real person who did not do such; (3) “Afraid Of Dying? Losing All?” again implores one to pause and consider their soul’s value in light of the impossibility of trying to serve God and mammon (Lk. 16:13).

A Review of “Questions of Women’s roles…requires grace, humility” by Cana Moore (Part One) Part One: Here is an article concerning WOMEN’S ROLES in the church. It especially centers on the woman is not to USURP AUTHORITY over a man in I Tim. 2:12. Paul said: 1Ti. 2:11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 1Ti. 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. One part questions what the DOUBLE NARRATIVE IN GENESIS means, and asks if there was full equality in man and woman before the fall? I’ve got some things I want to say that I believe apply to some of the contexts in the article; the article should elicit thoughts of your own as well.

Newspaper Articles Series: “For the Greatly Exploited Generation Z” These NEWSPAPER articles identify spiritual exploitations of the “Z” GENERATION (2019-2020). Beginning with the truthful statement that God’s Word will not exploit you the way political correctness does --- these present God’s wisdom and power that exists far beyond mankind’s own wisdom and power. You must believe in a Creator to learn to put your life into His perspective and purpose for mankind (Ps. 89:11; Eccl. 12:13). You may read about the various ways generations, actually, have been deceived and thus think and act contrary to God’s revealed Word.

The Conduct God Expects From Our Members Read this article and it should help you to better understand the "unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace" (Eph. 4:1-3; Col. 3:12-14). These 7 Virtues are discussed as being necessary for each member of the local church: Lowliness (Humility), Meekness (GENTLENESS), Longsuffering (Patience), Forebearing (Showing Tolerance), Tender Mercies (Heart of Compassion), Kindness and Forgiving one another. Understanding these in this context answers such important questions as: Whom can I talk to?, When do I go to another?, Can I speak publicly in rebuking to thus maintain this unity?, What would a refusal to listen indicate? And what happens to one who does not forgive if one repents?

“All You Really Have To Do Is Believe In God”  Jesus said, “Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven” (Matt. 7:21). Please look below for both Jews and GENTILES are saved the same way:

Points made concerning both the Father’s will and JESUS are:

  1.   Jesus did the will of the father who sent Him (cf. John 6:37-38).

  2.   Jesus’ words are the Father’s (John 17:14, 17).

  3.   Jesus was seeking the Father’s glory not His own (Jo. 7:17-18).

  4.   Jesus’ authority was the Father’s! (Read John 12:48-50).

  5.   Jesus gave us the Father’s word which is truth (John 17:14, 17).

  6.   One cannot come to Christ except by the will of the Father (Jo.

        6:37).

  7.   The Father’s will is that you believe in Jesus His Son (Jo. 6:45).

  8.   The “work of God,” or requirement of God is that one believes in Jesus whom He has sent (John 6:26-29).

  9.   The Father’s will is that eternal life comes through belief in Christ

        (John 6:40).

10.   Eternal life is gained by knowing His Father and the Son whom He sent (Jo. 17:3).

11.  Jesus is the only way to the Father (Jo. 14:6).

12.  The doing of the Father’s will establishes one’s relationship with Christ (Matt. 12:50).

13.  Those who do believe will not perish (Jo.3:16).

14.  The belief in Christ that saves is a belief that obeys Him, else the wrath of God abides upon one (cf. Matt. 7:21; Jo. 3:36; Heb. 5:9).

15.  The one who doesn’t believe God has given us eternal life in His Son makes God a liar ( I John 5:10-11).

16.  This is all based in the Scriptures (John 5:39; De. 18:18-19).

17.  Jesus didn’t say that they “can’t” believe and obey but they “would not” (John 8:24).

18.  His word which was the Father’s necessitates baptism for initial obedience in order that one might be saved (cf. Matt. 28:18-20 “all” authority for “all” nations; Mk. 16:15-16; Acts 16:31; Acts 22:16 an example of Saul obeying the Son of God).

19.  Christ was “end of the Law” (Rom. 10:4). Both Jew and Gentile are saved the same way by obeying the Gospel (Rom. 1:16, 17, Rom. 3:29-30).

20.  To believe in Christ is to believe in the Father (cf. John 12:44-45). Of course, for that is the Father’s will! (see above)

21.  To reject Christ is to reject the Father’s word (cf. John 12:48-50, 14:24). Read the boldness of Peter and John in the newspaper article above (Acts 4:12-13).

22.  To receive Christ is to receive the Father (cf. John 13:20). Jesus told why some do not receive Him (cf. John 5:43-44).

23.  If you don’t love Christ you don’t keep the Father’s words (cf. John 14:24).

24.  If you keep the Father’s will you will keep Christ’s commandments (cf. John 14:15, 24, 12:49).

25.  To abide in Jesus’ love is to abide in the Father’s love (cf. John 14:21, 15:9-10; I John 4:16).

26.  To be in Christ is to be in the Father (cf. I John 4:15-16).

27.  Knowing the Son is knowing the Father (cf. John 14:7-10, 1:18, 10:15; Matt. 11:27 Plain!).

28.  If you deny the Son you do not have the Father (cf. I John 2:23). You’ve called God a liar! (I John 5:10). You will die in your sins (John 8:24). Those who deny the Son are in the power of Satan (I John 5:19-20).

29.  Whoever confesses the Son has the Father (cf. I John 2:23).

30.  Does the Father’s will really say all that one must do is believe in God in a very general way? No!

This becomes, when we understand the expression “the will of My Father,” the very lesson people need who say Jesus is Lord and then profess there are other religions that lead to the Father that don’t believe Jesus is Lord (cp. Lk. 6:46). And again, notice in our study what knowing and doing “the will of My Father” does to the statement often heard, i.e. all you have to do is believe in God.

Loving Israel for the Wrong Reasons  The history of Israel goes back to God’s promise of Christ through Abraham’s seed (Gen 12:1-3). It was through Christ, Abraham’s seed, that all nations (all men everywhere) would have the offer of eternal salvation (Rom 1:16-17; Gal 3:26-29). Here is a contrast of Israel under the Old Testament for a definite period which has passed, and salvation for all men through the gospel of Christ as revealed in the New Testament.  When you study the salvation of Jews or GENTILES the New Testament points to their baptisms into Christ for the remission of their sins (Mk 16:15-16; Gal 3:26-29). Read this article and you will see the difference between contending for political and national interests, and contending for salvation offered through Christ for all men.

1. The name Israel applied to the nation that developed in Egypt.

2. That nation, Israel, was given the Old Covenant law for a definite period, which has ended, with a view to Christ being the end of the law (see Rom 10:4 “end”) --- the Old Covenant kept them together and brought them to Christ. The New Covenant is for all men today, both Jews and GENTILES.

3. Blindness of the Jews is seen in those who reject Christ and the New Testament.

4. ANY TRUE CHRISTIAN DESIRES THE SALVATION OF ALL MEN REGARDLESS OF RACE OR NATIONALITY.

5. The offer of salvation through the gospel of Christ is not antisemitic – both Jews and GENTILES are equal in Christ’s church.

6. The offer of salvation through the gospel of Christ does not favor Arabs or GENTILES over others – all are equal in Christ’s church.

7. WHEN YOU STUDY THE JEWS’ SALVATION > THE NEW TESTAMENT POINTS TO THEIR BAPTISMS.

8. WHEN YOU STUDY THE JEWS’ LEVITICAL PRIESTHOOD UNDER THE OLD TESTAMENT > THE NEW TESTAMENT TEACHES THE PRIESTHOOD CHANGED FOR THE JEWS TO CHRIST AS THE ETERNAL HIGH PRIEST.

9. WHEN YOU STUDY THE JEWS’ O.T. LAW > THE NEW TESTAMENT TEACHES IT WAS TAKEN OUT OF THE WAY HAVING BEEN NAILED TO THE CROSS.

10. WHEN YOU STUDY OLD COVENANT WORSHIP FOR JEWS > THE NEW TESTAMENT TEACHES IT “VANISHED,” AND THEY COULD BE GOD’S PEOPLE UNDER THE NEW COVENANT (JER. 31:31-34).

11. WHEN YOU STUDY THE JEWS’ TEMPLE IN JERUSALEM > THE NEW TESTAMENT TEACHES ITS DESTRUCTION BY GOD WHICH CAME IN AD 70.

12. WHEN YOU STUDY THE JEWS AS A NATION > THE NEW TESTAMENT CONFIRMS THEY ABUSED THE BLESSING OF BEING CHOSEN BY GOD – THEY LOVED THE IDOLS AND FALSE GODS OF THE NATIONS, BEING A STIFF-NECKED REBELLIOUS PEOPLE (CF. STEPHEN’S SPEECH TO FELLOW JEWS, ACTS 7; READ DE 9:6-7, 24).

13. WHEN YOU STUDY THE JEWS’ HUMAN TRADITIONS AS A NATION > THE NEW TESTAMENT TEACHES THEIR HUMAN TRADITIONS WERE “VAIN WORSHIP” (CF. MATT 15:3-9; MAR 7:5-9).

14. THAT GOD CHOSE ISRAEL THROUGH WHOM CHRIST CAME ACCORDING TO THE FLESH, AND THEN MOST JEWS REJECTED JESUS CHRIST WAS A GRIEF TO PAUL, HIMSELF A JEW.

15. PARTIAL BLINDNESS OF ISRAEL IS SEEN IN THEIR REJECTING THE NEW COVENANT, AND BECOMING ENEMIES OF THE TRUTH OF THE GOSPEL (ROM 11:25-32). PAUL (A JEW HIMSELF) IS TRUTHFUL AND IMPARTIAL IN STATING THIS. BUT THERE IS ALSO A REMINDER TO THE GENTILE CHRISTIANS THAT THEY MUST REMEMBER THEY WERE ONCE DISOBEDIENT TO GOD, AND SO THE HOPE REMAINS THAT MORE AMONG THE JEWS WILL BE CONVERTED TO CHRIST THROUGH THE GOSPEL, I.E., THE NEW COVENANT. IT IS THE NEW COVENANT THAT IS GIVEN TO BOTH JEWS AND GENTILES THAT IS SPOKEN OF HERE.

16. PAUL QUOTED ISAIAH’S TRUTHFUL AND HONEST STATEMENT TO FELLOW JEWS WHO IN UNBELIEF REJECTED THE PREACHING OF THE GOSPEL (ACTS 28:17-31).

17. JESUS WILL APPEAR “A SECOND TIME” TO AWARD SALVATION ON THE DAY OF JUDGMENT.

18. EVERY PERSON OF EVERY RACE INDIVIDUALLY WILL STAND BEFORE CHRIST ON THAT DAY.

19. CHRISTIANS ARE NOT TO BE IGNORANT ABOUT THAT DAY!

20. STUDY INTERNATIONAL POLITICS AND YOU ARE NOT STUDYING SALVATION IN CHRIST!

21. HE COMES IN THAT DAY TO BE GLORIFIED IN HIS SAINTS.

22. THE DAY OF THE LORD WILL COME AS A THIEF IN THE NIGHT.

23. WHEN CHRIST JUDGES “ALL” ON THAT DAY ANYONE NOT FOUND IN THE BOOK OF LIFE IS CAST INTO HELL.

24. WHO DO CHRISTIANS THANK GOD FOR WHO GIVES US THE VICTORY? GOD WHO GIVES US CHRIST.

25. STUDY THE NEW TESTAMENT AND THE ISRAEL OF GOD IN GAL 6:16 IS THE CHURCH OF CHRIST.

26. THE RECOGNIZED “JEW” RELIGIOUSLY BY GOD IS NOT IN PHYSICAL OUTWARD APPEARANCE, OR BY PHYSICAL CIRCUMCISION, BUT INWARDLY HAVING OBEYED THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST -- WHOSE PRAISE IS NOT FROM MAN BUT GOD.

Is There Prophecy Today?  This is a study of prophecy in the New Testament dispensation, and yet it issues appropriate warnings to those often deceived by false teachers claiming not only the gift of prophecy but other spiritual gifts as well. There is an abundance of information on all of the SPIRITUAL GIFTS; “prophecy” was one of the GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT enumerated in I Corinthians 12:8-10. Prophecy appears here along with speaking in tongues, the word of knowledge, and various other spiritual gifts. Notice that there were nine spiritual gifts in all that were given to the infant church: 1. the word of wisdom, 2. the word of knowledge, 3. faith, 4. gifts of healing, 5. working of miracles, 6. prophecy, 7. discerning of spirits, 8. different kinds of tongues (languages), and 9.  the interpretation of tongues.

An Example of going beyond Local Church Organization – The Seventh-day Adventists : Here is a comparison of Christ’s church as set forth in the New Testament and the Seventh-day Adventists. As you read this you will see important points on “how” false religions get started. There is a vast difference in stating that we must go back to the New Testament patterns for the organization and worship of Christ's church He built -- and the establishment of a denomination upon FALSE VISIONS and leaders FALSELY CLAIMING THE GIFT OF PROPHECY (I Cor. 13:8).

The Worship of the Church. This is Lesson Five in our Series: "Fundamental Lessons on the Church." Lesson Five: "The Worship of the Church." In this lesson you will be studying the items of worship for the church:

   1. The Lord's Supper upon the first day of the week.

   2. Instruction in God's word.

   3. Singing.

   4. Prayer.

   5. GIVING.

By studying these items of worship you can learn what  "edification" means and how it was practiced in the assemblies of the first century church.

"He who receives you receives Me" (Matthew 10:40).  The foremost lesson in this article is the authority Christ vested in His Apostles and their conduct in preaching the Gospel. But the article also gives emphasis to the matters of both "GIVING" and "receiving."

What To Tell Your Mate When They Are Guilty of Wrath Christians need to study and then be honest and make the right applications to one another, all family members, and especially with their own mates (Cf. I Th. 5:14). These must be told about their rage against faithful preachers and teachers when the Truth spoken hits their pocket books! They are “selfishly ambitious” when they refuse to obey the precepts on GIVING from spite and strife!

Principles For Helping One Another This study presents the duty of Christians helping one another. Perhaps you need to read up on some of the improper motives for GIVING to another. You can find some listed here!  Also, you can learn more, perhaps, concerning the improper attitudes manifested towards those who do GIVE, thus fulfilling their duty to help others.

Be Successful Where You Are Too often, I’m afraid, small churches are lacking in the duty of “liberality” or “GIVING” (I Cor. 16:1-3). The article encourages local churches to be successful in such, and all things! Question: Why not take time to read some of the important reminders for us to be good at imparting?

For the Naïve, Scoffers and Fools  In Proverbs chapter one “Wisdom” shouts publicly to all including the simple minded (naïve), scorners (scoffers) and fools. Religious and scriptural applications are made presenting propaganda techniques. God doesn’t Name Call. If God says someone or some group is stupid then they are stupid! God does not use GLITTERING GENERALITIES. He did not choose words and phrases with always favorable implications! God does not us the Plain Folks approach. God is not just one of us! God used “true” Guilty By Association. God did not use the Band Wagon. Accepting God’s law and obeying it will not put you in the majority!

The Appreciation Of Godly Sisters In Christ The tremendous value of our sisters in Christ is set forth in this article. Beginning with the honor that is due to faithful women in Christ, the study sets forth the various duties enjoined upon them in regards to their family and service rendered to the church that Christ built. Christians who are ready and yield their bodies unto God as instruments of righteousness in sacrificial service are fulfilling the perfect will of God (cf. Rom.  12:1-2, 6:13). They are GLORIFYING God in their body and spirit, which are God’s (cf. I Cor. 6:13-20). Christ is being magnified (shown) in their body (Phil. 1:20).

Things in Christ not found in Islam One simple but effective way of explaining the difference between a major “world” religion and the gospel of Christ (the New Testament, Matt. 26:28) is to show the things found “in Christ” that are not found elsewhere.  The GLORY Christ received upon ascension into Heaven is explained in various ways along with man's attendant responsibilities.

What You Can And Will Do In Christ This brief study should offer assuramce to Christians that their efforts to serve God faithfully are attainable, as well as being greatly aided by others' prayers on their behalf. What one can and will do by remaining faithful in Christ is declared through the words of Paul's prayer for the church at Colossae in Col. 1:9-12. The stated "GOAL" of our efforts is seen in Philip. 1:10-11 (KJV)  "That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; [11] Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God."

Let Us Get You A New Kind Of Preacher! Those full of carnality (works of the flesh) accuse the faithful unjustly with wicked intent, spread strife with their mouths and set an example of evil for others to imitate (cf. 3 John 10-11). They have a GOAL, an objective, and will sacrifice the truth and brethren to achieve it! These are looking forward to and working towards division in order that they might have their own way, and that with the “kind of preaching” that lacks application and pleases the ungodly (cf. 2 Tim. 4:1-5). Understand that the longer the church postpones dealing with them scripturally the closer they get to their unscriptural GOALS (cf. Rev. 2:20). There is nothing more carnal, and full of the works of the flesh, that I can think of at this age in my life than brethren who work to stop applicable preaching and teaching. They will stop at nothing to get the “new kind” of preacher. Old warnings need to be issued! As in the past there will always be bigger churches somewhere ready to aid the pattern of apostasy and provide the “new kind” of teachers and preachers. That is how apostasy is able to continue. Brethren beware! It is quite possible that you know of such things happening among us.

Why Churches Fear Applying “Scriptural Authority” ~ Selected Newspaper Articles Concerning “Scriptural Authority.” Local churches of Christ must continue to be the pillar and support of the truth. These three articles relate to the fear manifested by church leaders who use human wisdom, emotions and lies; their GOALS are power, prestige, pleasing self and material gain. Members themselves love their false position that allows them to fulfill their own lusts. These show how secular institutions influenced by Political Correctness have become protectors and enforcers for those who despise God’s Word, thus displaying a lack of respect for “religious” freedom of speech!

Reply to a response on "Questions on Witchcraft" A respondent to "Questions on Witchcraft" has present the idea that there was race upon earth who did not have Adam and Eve for their genealogy. She claims to be of this so called "other people." She says GOD in Genesis 4:16 refers to a local deity. The reply shows how her claim doesn't fit with the scriptures in the Bible.

After Baptism, Then What?  A point made in this article issues a warning to new Christians showing that after baptism they must consider the severity of GOD. The material offers appropriate encouragement and warnings for those recently baptized for the remission of their sins.

Their glory (boast) is in understanding and knowing GOD WHO DELIGHTS IN loving-kindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth! (Cf. Jer. 9:23-24). Obedience unto righteousness is what God takes pleasure in, thus these are the scriptural reasons why all of our godly sisters are appreciated.

God Turns The Way Of The Wicked Upside Down This lesson considers the path of the wicked that is a familiar topic throughout the Psalms. You will learn about the wicked by the following: (1) GOD thwarts the way of the wicked (Ps. 146:9); (2) GOD puts the wicked in great fear (Ps. 53); (3) Accusers are filled with their own ways (Ps. 109). This section tells you exactly what will happen to the wicked; (4) You will learn about the purpose of their traps they set for the righteous; (5) GOD overthrows the best of secret counsel (Ps. 64).

Things Often Missing During Afflictions The applications in this brief study will deal with those who are in affliction. Dear reader, you will notice that with some of these GOD HAS NO PLEASURE; others see GOD’S FAITHFULNESS during their afflictions. Why not read this either for your self or with a view to being able to help another?

The Majority Know Another Jesus The church at Corinth gladly tolerated fools who taught another Jesus and different gospel (cf. 2 Cor. 11:4, 19).  It is possible for one to read the trifling literature of fools and possess a completely false view of Jesus. Read the Gospels for yourself and see what He really did do and teach. Here’s a start with applications from the Gospels themselves that show the stark differences between what most think Jesus taught and what He really did teach! Verses are presented that deal with: (15) the human tradition that you obey that causes you to despise GOD’S JUSTICE and the TRUE LOVE OF GOD that rebukes and convicts the sinner…

Selected Newspaper Articles Here are four newspaper articles presented to the community with a love for the truth. The intent is to present God’s truths without incorporating the emotional flavor so popular with other religious bodies: (3) “GOD Knows When Men Conceal The Truth” presents a scriptural view of those who claim to preach God’s word while restraining their lips for covetousness sake. The ungodliness of all such who hate the good and love evil is contrasted with the man who is blessed. The man who is blessed trusts in God, and has not shown respect to the proud, nor to those who lapse into falsehood (cf. Ps. 40:4). This man hates evil, and loves the good and establishes justice so that God will be gracious to him (cf. Amos 5:15).

9-11-2001 ~ Things I Can Count On Today  America was attacked by terrorists on this date. This is a “time” when people thrive upon inappropriate statements and misleading applications of God’s Word. Illustrations of such would be “Nostradamas said…,” “Armageddon has come, “the Mark of the Beast.” One part of this study deal with such questions as, "Why?" or "What is the future?" The answer presents the limited number of things Christians have that they can truly trust in and depend upon. These few but precious things are where a christian's life really is any day, as well as any place that they might be. One of these is that GOD uses one government to punish another (Matt. 24:1-2). Another of these important things is Christians are to be obedient to civil government (Rom. 13:1-7). But should a government demand something from Christians that GOD forbids they must OBEY GOD RATHER THAN MAN.

One Nation Under God  This article begins with an example of patronage to our flag and pledge of allegiance, but respectfully submits that the mention of God brings with it an even greater lesson concerning "Allegiance." For Christians the words "under GOD" are illustrative of GOD'S RULE over all the nations of mankind (Ps. 2:7-12; Matt. 28:18-20; I Tim. 6:15; Rev. 2:27). Moreover the earth, the world, and all who dwell therein ~ all souls are His (Ps. 24:1; Ezk. 18:4; Haggai 2:8). God created man (Gen. 1:27).  Applying the principle of GOD'S OWNERSHIP on an individual personal level means that we respond to the fact that His ownership demands our personal loyalty and obedience to His commands. Sadly, herein is where Americans are failing today!

The Beginning Point Leading To Salvation This article should help anyone today who has come to realize that the variety of explanations offered today due to diverse human philosophies and beliefs have left many frustrated concerning the important matter of salvation. The Pentecostal Experience, Baptizing Infants and the place of GODPARENTS and Professing Belief without required obedience are examined in the light of the scriptures. If you will take your Bible and read each scripture in this brief study it will enable you to be honest with yourself about your own salvation (Acts 17:11). Moreover, it will help prevent the all too common occurrence of many misleading others by that with which they were lead astray themselves.

Turmoil in the Middle East ~ Assumptions Answered:  Part of this article addresses the assumption that mankind is just like the dinosaurs and will end up destroying itself. Man is a distinct part of GOD'S CREATION, a "class" i.e. “mankind” and not an animal (Gen. 1:26-28).  Moreover, what GOD CREATED is in His own power and not man’s to ultimately destroy (Genesis 1:1; John 1:1-3; Heb. 1:2; Rev. 3:14, 4:8, 11). This is an awareness, I believe, that our society today is in great need of hearing and understanding. Man cannot properly understand his "place" here upon the earth without this knowledge.

Aliens and National Ignorance: The concerns of space aliens and extraterrestrial activity in recent balloon intercepts, present A TOTALLY WRONG PERSPECTIVE OF THE EARTH, LIFE HERE, AND MANKIND HAVING BEEN GIVEN THE EARTH AS A DWELLING PLACE (Gen. 1:26; Ps. 115:16). There are no space aliens! THE VASTNESS OF THE UNIVERSE ASTOUNDS, AND SPEAKS OF GOD’S OMNIPOTENCE (PS. 33:6-9). INCLUDED IN UNGODLY MEN SUPPRESSING THE TRUTH IN UNRIGHTEOUSNESS, IS THE FAILURE TO HONOR HIM BY ACKNOWLEDGING HIS OMNIPOTENCE OR ETERNAL POWER (Rom 1:18-21).

What To Tell Your Mate When They Are Guilty of Wrath  Christians need to study and then be honest and make the right applications to one another, all family members and especially with their own mates (Cf. I Th. 5:14). The stubborn and unrepentant heart despises the riches of GOD’S goodness, kindness, forbearance and longsuffering! GOD’S forbearance doesn’t mean weakness (connected with their despising or ignoring Him), nor does his longsuffering equal forgiveness! He demands repentance!

Casting Down Eloquence & Sophistry Series (2 Cor. 10:4-5)   Modern teachers, atheists, and mockers often portray GOD in the Old Testament as being ruthless and unloving. A common tactic is to present the idea that GOD in the Old is different from GOD in the New. Such seek to bypass the fact that the judgments of God brought upon the world, as recorded in the Old Testament, were indeed left as warnings for us today. People love the deception in being told that God today just isn’t like that (cf. Rom.16:17). But GOD will punish the wicked in hades and eternally in hell (cf. Lk.16:22-26; Matt. 10:28).

God, man, the world; Satan, man and the course of this world (PART ONE of TWO) Emphasis is upon GOD the creator of the earth, man, the universe and all material things --- by using various definitions of “world” or “age” Satan, the Devil, is presented as “the god of this world” who blinds the minds of the unbelieving. The Devil rules the thoughts and deeds of the men of our own age. Get the Devil in your conversations!

The wise according to human wisdom and philosophy, the scribe i.e. professional who writes and speaks to the detriment of God’s word and wisdom, as well as the debater i.e. learned disputant --- these offer elaborate and devious arguments in this “age” we live in as they serve the Devil. Their message is full of deceit and error and hostile to God and His Word.

God, man, the world; Satan, man and the course of this world (Part Two) Here in Part Two there is continued focus upon the work of the Devil with emphasis upon Christ, the church and the Devil’s work. Things done to resist the Devil are stated along with examples of Satan’s influences in the church. What will happen to the Devil and those who follow him points to the necessity of one obeying in baptism to be saved (Mk. 16:15-16).

Modern Day Rabshakehs Rabshakeh the spokesman for the great King of Assyria is all over the place in his blasphemy concerning who GOD is and what GOD is doing on the earth. Read his contradictions about God as he threatens the inhabitants of Jerusalem --- telling them not to let Hezekiah convince them to trust in the Lord. A parallel is easy made to those who claim to know God and have Jesus on their side -- answer the so called “woke social justice movement” with the works of the flesh that Jesus condemned. Jesus is God and God is on to their woke! When you put their “woke social justice” on the board and look at their walk i.e. their lifestyle you see its great immoral failure!

Infanticide ~ #1 Penalties, Israel’s Idolatry and Practice This is beginning of articles on infanticide. Before I get to our current cultural and political state in these here is some Biblical history that is all important – Israel’s idolatry, for when Israel turned from God it turned to FASLE gods and practiced infanticide.

The Good Person In this article you can learn what God says concerning GOOD PEOPLE and their need for salvation. Many people today believe that being "good" is good enough. Appropriate scriptures are applied to refute this belief. These will show that all men are accountable before God and must obey the Gospel to gain eternal life in Christ the Lord.

A Simple Biblical Pattern For Explaining “Why?”  A respondent who questioned the matter of judging those who live together without marriage stated, “I think these days it can be a good thing to live together before getting married....  This obviously goes against your feelings, but they're just your feelings, not everyone's." Last of all she stated, "As far as your last sentence, it's not an idea that it's acceptable and normal, these days, IT IS acceptable and normal.... If you don't like it, then don't do it.... I wouldn't criticize you...why do you judge about people who choose to live together?"
This individual wants to know “why” I would determine that people who choose to live together are wrong in doing so. I presumed this to be an honest question deserving of an answer.

In part one must understand that following a desire to know God's will as one reads the Bible they must learn to make the proper applications. Proper application necessitate distinguishing between what is "right" and what is "wrong." The scriptures provide instruction and correction so each may “thoroughly equipped for every GOOD work” (2 Tim. 3:16-17). “Instruction” in the Word plainly states that fornication as described above is a work of the flesh that leads to eternal destruction if not repented of (I Cor. 6:9; Gal. 5:19-21).

Memory #3 of 3 This is the third portion of a brief series on “Memory” (April, May and June 2016). This article’s emphasis is on not using memory to prevent spiritual danger and destruction, letting greed overpower remembering God’s presence in times past, using memory to correct one’s life and the necessity of being REMINDED TO BE READY FOR EVERY GOOD WORK. God’s people are to maintain GOOD WORKS for necessary uses (to meet urgent needs), that they be not unfruitful (Titus 3:14). When you “forget” you neglect brethren in dire circumstances and no longer care for them spiritually in prayer or materially. Thus we are admonished “to DO GOOD, and to communicate (*sharing) forget not” (Heb. 13:16). When brethren are sharing things are good for all who are worthy, and there’s no reason for any member to be overly anxious about material things.

What You Can And Will Do In Christ This brief study should offer assurance to Christians that their efforts to serve God faithfully are attainable, as well as being greatly aided by others' prayers on their behalf. What one can and will do by remaining faithful in Christ is declared through the words of Paul's prayer for the church at Colossae in Col. 1:9-12. Here are the key thoughts: A. Be filled with knowledge, all wisdom and spiritual understanding. B. Walk worthy, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. C. Strengthened for attaining all stedfastness and patience, with Joy. D. Joyously giving thanks to the Father. Following is a "Check Your Spiritual Growth With Self-Test Questions" giving further emphasis to our growth in knowledge and ability to discern both GOOD and evil. The stated "goal" of our efforts is seen in Philippians 1:10-11.

“THEY DELIGHT IN DESTROYING!”; “THEY ARE NOT GOOD PEOPLE, NOR CHILDREN.” : “THEY ARE NOT GOOD PEOPLE, NOR CHILDREN.” …These two articles connect both adults and children to the destructive influence of WOKE philosophy, LGBTQ, and TRANS INFLUENCE.

Things in Christ not found in Islam One simple but effective way of explaining the difference between a major “world” religion and the gospel of Christ (the New Testament, Matt. 26:28) is to show the things found “in Christ” that are not found elsewhere.  The following are things found in Jesus Christ that are not found in Islam. You will find under "Things Concerning the Resurrection" that those who do not OBEY THE GOSPEL will be ashamed on the Day the Lord comes again! (2 Th. 1:8-9; I John 2:28). One should study to find out what it means to "obey the Gospel."

Just Good Advice Versus The Gospel That Saves The world’s remedy is offered by the world but God’s remedy for sinful situations in the lives of His creation is found in the GOSPEL of Christ. Concerned reader, God’s remedy begins by identifying the sin and stating the penalty. In this article you will see the vast difference between just offering another advice on a particular problem and dealing with the real issues of repentance, obedience to the GOSPEL, and their obtaining the remission of sins with the blessings that follow.

Rule of Law Points From the authority implied in the “name” of Jesus Christ who has all authority, several points are made concerning the GOSPEL as the power of God unto salvation for all men, Jesus’ authority to judge by His law, Sin as a violation of Christ’s law, and how His law convicts of sin. Major emphasis is also given to the RULE OF LAW of law being attacked by ignorance, wrongful intent, good intentions, sincerity, carelessness, ignoring, impulse and inconsistency, showing partiality, outright defiance, distortion of one’s words and partial narratives of the Word (to neglect to teach the whole counsel of God, Acts 20:27, 32.). Applications include God is no respecter of persons, to show respect of persons is sin, the kind of judgment that condemns oneself, and the one who boasts in God’s law but dishonors God through breaking the law.

Read this and you will see the fulfillment and understand that THE NEW TESTAMENT is God’s will for all of mankind today. Here is a contrast of Israel under the Old Testament for a definite period which has passed, and salvation for all men through THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST as revealed in the NEW TESTAMENT.  When you study the salvation of Jews or Gentiles (including Arabs) the New Testament points to their baptisms into Christ for the remission of their sins (Mk 16:15-16; Gal 3:26-29).

THE FOCUS SHOULD BE ON EACH INDIVIDUAL, WITH THE GOSPEL AS THE POWER OF GOD UNTO SALVATION (MK. 16:15-16; ROM. 1:16), AND NOT A “NATION” THAT MIGHT HAVE TO FIGHT ALIENS FROM OUTER SPACE!  FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!

•Mar 16:15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and

preach the gospel to every creature.

•Mar 16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved;

but he who does not believe will be condemned.

HAVE “YOU” EARTHLING OBEYED ACTS 2:38? THERE IS NO SECOND CHANCE AFTER YOUR DEATH, OR SHOULD HE COME BEFORE YOU DIE.

Civil Government Out of Control (Series) (CIVIL GOVERNMENT)  This is a series of Newspaper Articles that we published in the Yuma Sun. There are six short article based upon activities in the life of the apostle Paul. These present where government officials either failed or succeeded in doing their work. Actually there is a great deal of information here about civil rulers, workers, and politicians dealing with such things as motives, consequences, civil harassment, rumors and lies, hatred, mob violence, intent to murder, greed and man pleasing – the desire and advantage for political figures as they work at pleasing others.

Selected Newspaper Articles On Civil Government  This is a series of newspaper Articles titled “Civil GOVERNMENT Out Of Control.” Since I have put it into our newsletter format I am listing it again.

Be Sure to Keep Christ at New Years!  A point is made on drinking by using the words or King Lemuel to present an appropriate lesson for GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS, Kings and those in high places who rule.

Should “Grass Roots” Pol. Movements Address Local Churches of Christ  This is election year and I’m hearing that a pastor (denominational usage) is afraid if he doesn’t allow his church to have a requested political presentation from our grass root political movement. It never dawned on such that a church of Christ would be in scriptural agreement that such is not authorized as part of an assembly of the church. Where did personal conscience suddenly go? What happened to religious liberty? Read this study to understand why all the members of the local church are in agreement, and make no apologies for respecting the authorized work of the assemblies of the church.

INCLUDED:

1. Christ’s Kingdom is a Spiritual Kingdom, Col. 1:13.

2. The Local Church With It’s Own Oversight & Collective Work.

3. Assemblies are the Collective Function of the particular Local “Body” as an Organization.

4. Some Scripturally Authorized Purposes for the Assemblies of the Local Church.

5. Christians as Individuals Participated in GOVERNMENT.

6. God did not Give the Gospel to CIVIL GOVERNMENT.

7. A Civil or State Religion.

8. Concerning Political Movements & Organizations.

9. Man’s Ways are not God’s Ways (Isa. 55:8-9).

10. It is Not a Matter of Just Losing One’s Tax Exempt Status.

Civil Government – A Hot Topic CIVIL GOVERNMENT is a hot topic and for good reasons — just look at what covid19 restrictions have brought to our nation. Here are a few brief articles that highlight important aspects of a government out of control even according to our own Bill of Rights — much less having intruded into God’s authority! There is an IF that is well known in Acts 4:19, 5:29. If the government’s rules are not a violation of God’s laws then we are to submit to them. When man’s rules seek to restrict God’s commands, then we are restricted by God’s commands!

Included are: The Corona Virus and Worship (April 2020); The Corona Virus and Worship #2 (May 2020); The Corona Virus and Worship #3 – Seeking to Trump God with the Health Card (June 2020); Civil Government #1 ~ The Kind of Government God Approves of Rewards Good Works and not Evil (July 2020) and Civil Government #2 ~ The Kind of Government God Approves of Allows Worship, Work & Provides Protection (August 2020).

The Correct Delight of Kings “The appreciation of “the delight of kings” of Israel --- kept in proper context under the Old Covenant --- is seen in their fear of God and obedience to His commands given to Israel. The commands for them to love truth and righteousness, and some doing so, stands in contrast to the wickedness of CIVIL GOVERNMENT TODAY!”

Jesus Came to Fulfill the Law (Matt. 5:17-18) People are quick to quote these passages to justify using a combination of the Mosaic Law (Old Testament or Covenant) along with the New Testament. This is used for any number of things, but especially for items of worship that they particularly like that cannot be justified by the New Testament teaching concerning the church of Christ. The attraction of special clothing (cf. Ex. 28) for ministers and priests, along with the use of instruments, candles, incense, etc. would be examples. Demanding circumcision along with wanting to bind the Old Covenant upon the church is refuted by Paul as an example of seeking justification by the Law and FALLING FROM GRACE (Gal.5:1-4). Paul said the Jews blinded by the Law were holding to a ministry of death and condemnation (2 Cor. 3:4-16). But when they turned to Christ and His New Covenant that blindness would cease (I Cor. 3:12-16).

1Ti. 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.” I’ve got some things I want to say that I believe apply to some of the contexts in the article; the article should elicit thoughts of your own as well.

You will find key points made concerning God’s GRACE and MERCY being with us in truth, that we are saved by GRACE through faith, and both GRACE and MERCY are “in Christ” --- God’s grace, faith and doing the works He prepared beforehand in eternity to be revealed in the New Testament enable us to be holy an blameless before Him in love (Rom. 10:17; Jas. 2:24, 26; Eph. 1:4; 2 Tim. 1:9; Eph. 2:10; Col. 1:9-10; I Jo. 1:6-9).

Selected Newspaper Articles From The Valley Church of Christ

“Scriptural Warnings Appropriate For Grad Night. With a view in mind that there are still parents and young adults who care about morality and integrity we issued three important scriptural warnings for GRADUATION NIGHT: (1) Do not be the parent whose child knows you are a hypocrite; (2) Do not give in to your child’s wrongful wish; (3) Do not make provision for sinful lusts.

Selected Newspaper Articles Here are four newspaper articles presented to the community with a love for the truth. The intent is to present God’s truths without incorporating the emotional flavor so popular with other religious bodies. (3) “God Knows When Men Conceal The Truth” presents a scriptural view of those who claim to preach God’s word while restraining their lips for covetousness sake. Amos 5:15).

Go ye therefore and make disciples of all the nations… Explaining how one truly becomes a disciple of Christ as a result of the apostles fulfilling the GREAT COMMISSION (Matthew 28:19; Luke 24:46-47; Mark 16:15-16).

Casting Down Eloquence & Sophistry Series (2 Cor. 10:4-5) While professing love and understanding false teachers make a mockery of Christ’s teaching in “how” they use Matt. 22:39 – they twist “love thy neighbor as thyself.” They fail to put it properly with the preceding first and GREATEST COMMANDMENT – to love God with one’s “all” (cf. Matt. 22:37-38). This love (agapao) is found in both the Old and New Testaments (cp. Rom. 13:8-10). It carries with it the idea of duty and obedience to God. If you love God you will keep His commandments (cf. Jo. 14:15, 21, 23; I Jo. 5:6). To “not” love God is to “not” keep His commandments (Jo. 14:24). Loving your neighbor is not allowing your friend to sin and not reproving him!

About The Covetous  GREED  or covetousness can be found at any level of society; the Bible makes no distinction as to social position or race. Things can change quickly for the covetous and all such will ultimately find themselves in conflict with God. The covetous trouble their own house, Solomon said. They are a torment to themselves, bring strife and trouble their families, but are too dull spiritually to know wherein the problem lies. For another article on GREED read “Has Someone Pulled The Plug From Your Life” from the selected newspaper articles by  clicking here.

Selected Newspaper Articles The following are selected  newspaper articles ran by the Valley church of Christ for 2009-2010. Both churches and preachers would do well to consider that just offering a few scriptural points on important topics can go a long way in helping others. Consider the following points on (1) Why Pentecostal / Charismatic Tactics Easily Deceive; (2) Complaining With No Intention Of Making Things Scriptural; (3) GREED ~ Stupid Kid’s Games Draw Customers; (4) Liberation Theology & Marxist Ideology; (5) Human Creeds & Statements of Faith.

The Lies Of Apostasies The full title of this article is “The Pattern Of Lies Producing And Sustaining Apostasies.” Read this article to study what Jeroboam did wrong when he said in his heart that God’s established order would not work. The article also presents in detail the pattern of lies producing apostasies from the book of Jeremiah. Some important questions answered are: Why do lies prevail? How has the truth been affected? What Lies? What will God do in the end? Lies sustaining apostasies prevail because men are GREEDY for gain, recognition and power (Jer. 6:13; 5:27). You ought have heard older preachers tell about the 1940s-50s and how well preachers did who lined up with human organizations.

Selected Newspaper Articles Dear reader the following titles are selected newspaper articles that appeared in our local newspaper the Yuma Sun. The intent of these articles is that each shows a love for and desire to present the Truth without incorporating the emotional flavor so popular with other religious bodies today. The topics are: “The Buyer Is Like The Seller; The Creditor Is Like The Debtor” This also includes “the lender is like the borrower.” What God’s word says about GREED, liars, cheats and murderers applies to all – the rich and poor!; “Wicked Kids, Teens, Beating & Stomping Others” (This exposes the lie, “Oh they’re just too young to know better!”); “Some Wrights Are So Wrong” (When so called “Pastors” are asked if John 14:6 is true and if they think Islam is another way to salvation, and then suggest that there is another path to the Father they deny what Jesus and the apostles taught! (cf. John 12:48).

Israel’s complaining / murmuring towards Moses and Aaron, and thus towards God Himself, that they had been brought out into the wilderness to be killed by thirst and starvation led to the destruction of many (cf. Nu. 11:1 Taberah; 11:33-34 Kibrothhathtaava).

Selected Newspaper Articles for 2013 These newspaper articles from 2013 include: (1) “Using ‘Christendom’ to Cover Religious Error”; (2) “The Ways of the Street Mugger”; (3) “Murders, Murderers, Victims”; (4) “Surely not a Hot Head” and (5) “Surely not a GREEDY Person” considers preachers and teachers who love power, position and wealth above the duty to rebuke and teach God’s Word.

From Youth through the Prime of Life (Eccl. 11:9-12:1) There are degrees of progression of age in this text. Accountability is seen throughout and the “right” things done are contrasted with things sinful that must be removed. These portions of life merge together and are fleeting, thus the necessity of remembering one’s Creator in the days of youth. Those in young adulthood are to know that for all things done God will bring them into judgment (Eccl. 11:9). They are commanded to remove sorrow i.e. GRIEF and anger from their lives, and pain from their body for childhood and the prime of life are fleeting!

After Baptism, Then What?  The article emphasizes the necessity of GROWTH as a natural spiritual process following one's baptism. The material offers appropriate encouragement and warnings for those recently baptized for the remission of their sins.

C. Strengthened for attaining all steadfastness and patience, with Joy. D. Joyously giving thanks to the Father. Following is a "Check Your Spiritual Growth With Self-Test Questions" giving further emphasis to our GROWTH and development into mature children of God. The stated "goal" of our efforts is seen in Philippians 1:10-11.

We Are Delivered To Do All Of This! This article relates to an important issue the church faces today; when it comes to Christians building human organizations for worship and evangelism the issue has always been the right of man to build another organization when God specified His, the local church. God gave the local church as the pillar and support of the truth (I Tim. 3:15). The GUARDIAN OF TRUTH’S own “Truth Magazine Lectureship” age old arguments are popping up again --- “The School of Tyrannus” and “The Jesus Foundation” arguments. Why would any Christian give precedent to any human organization if it stands in the way of a return to practicing God’s wisdom in giving the local church?       The Lies Of Apostasies The full title of this article is “The Pattern Of Lies Producing And Sustaining Apostasies.” You don’t see much on this particular part of apostasy in spite of the fact that those involved are frequently said to have misrepresented others’ statements, twist what others say in confronting them and that they just flat make false statements. Read this article to study what Jeroboam did wrong when he said in his heart that God’s established order would not work. The article also presents in detail the pattern of lies producing apostasies from the book of Jeremiah. Today as some men speak of the “danger” involved in what Florida College and now the GUARDIAN OF TRUTH FOUNDATION (Truth Magazine Lectureship) are doing they say it competes with the Local Church God ordained and has the potential to “replace” the local church in this country.      They Don’t Have A Right To Be Supported By Our Local Churches The matter of the Truth Magazine Lectureship has come up again (GUARDIAN OF TRUTH FOUNDATION’S --Truth Magazine Lectureship). I ask you to consider the following points: (1) What they cannot accept tells what they are; (2) Their use of old liberal institutional slogans tell what they are; (3) Their silly comparisons tell what they lack.      Great Truths learned from Tom Roberts Speech at the Truth Magazine Lectures 2009  Those involved in the GUARDIAN OF TRUTH FOUNDATION apostasy need to repent. Tom Roberts’ speech at the Truth Magazine Lectures simply reveals their continued digression. As he seeks to justify their present apostasy he uses arguments that liberals used to justify human societies in past generations. You’ll be benefitted by this article if you care about warning others concerning this continuing apostasy in our brotherhood.      The Great Apostasy is Done, Finished! This article brings the apostasy of Individual Societies built by Christians up to date. What was proposed in the 1800s and then again in our lifetime has taken root. Faithful members have always recognized that the congregational plan is the divine arrangement. Societies built today to do the works God gave His organization, the local church, to do are additions to His plan. They are not as is said just another avenue, or tool, for the church to do its work. Again, they are additions to God’s divine plan! This article is applicable to the GUARDIAN OF TRUTH FOUNDATION LECTURESHIP, Florida College engaged in worship and evangelism, and multiple Camps that engage in worship and edification. In conjunction with this you might also want to read “Individually Supported Societies on the Sideline.” NOTE: You will also find a series of articles answering arguments made for the existence of FLORIDA COLLEGE on our Home Page.      Patterns of Apostasy Repeat Themselves: The following brief outline on “Patterns of Apostasy” repeating themselves is used in our congregation for a “special class” when needed. The outline of itself presents a quick view of patterns repeating themselves through the years of even our own lives. It presents both “individual” and “church” supported societies that have been built by brethren: In 1845 J.T. Johnson’s evangelistic plan for individual not a congregational association; 1849 the American Christian Missionary Society supported by churches; (methods promoting apostasy during this period were used to introduce Instrumental Music in worship: (1) as early as 1851 in Kentucky “We are far in the rear of Protestants on the subject of church music”; (2) L. L. Pinkerton of Midway Ky. 1860 – can pinpoint the suggestions and argument “for”; (3) back again in 1864 W.K. Pendleton admits no N.T. usage but argues on basis of “silence of the scriptures” and “expediency” – it was an expedient like the  church building); 1942 Planning for Florida Christian College begins and in 1946 first students. This was not church supported but tactics similar to earlier apostasies; 1948 the Akin Foundation established as an organization for the support of churches of Christ; 1950s the Gospel Press organized to initially be supported by individuals – then started soliciting churches; 1950s the church support of Human Societies – Orphan Homes, the College, etc. The Sponsoring Church movement: The Herald of Truth, Feb. 10,1952 the Highland Church of Christ, Abilene, Tx. – was not same false pattern as A.C.M.S. was; 1970s-80s talk about our brethren building human societies for evangelistic purposes – as with other apostasies can pin point beginnings – 1973 the Cogdill Foundation appealed for contributions (donations) to send free tracts to the Philippines – questioned and dropped the appeal – late 1970s Mike Willis, the Guardian of Truth Foundation – discussions with Gene Frost, etc.; 2004 The first GUARDIAN OF TRUTH FOUNDATION LECTURESHIP – in just some 30 years a major apostasy again! Today we see a most “institutional” non-institutional brotherhood – to list a few through the years: Florida College, Guardian of Truth Foundation, F.C. Camps and others now, the Barnabas Ministry, WOW, Bread Upon the Waters, 1213. * For more detail see the outline.

Sects, and Sects Among Us  Here is an outline / notes, etc., on the sects of the Pharisees and Sadducees, as well as application to sects among us today. When speaking of the church Jesus said “I will build My church” (Matt 16:18). It is His church: 1Co 3:10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.; 1Co 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.; Eph 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; …the sect of the Pharisees added “more” to God’s word than was written in the Old Testament – today sects add “more” than revealed in the New Testament concerning the church of Christ.

The article contains information on the Sects, Pharisees, Sadducees, Scribes, Lawyers, Jewish Council or Sanhedrin, the Herodians, Human Tradition handed down and bound thus making void the law of God, Heresy is defined, Paul gave up the sect of the Pharisees to be a Christian, problems sects caused to the church in the first century and how they were dealt with, how some think they can Counsel God, Traditions Handed Down today Have a Beginning, Sects Among Us Associated with Human Tradition are FLORIDA COLLEGE and the GUARDIAN OF TRUTH FOUNDATION, the Arlington Meeting (1968) between some chosen “Institutionalist and Non-Institutionalist” is exposed --- some of both sides being intent on justifying the Human Societies of their own choosing, how the Akin Fund among Non-Institutionalist is used against them at the Arlington Meeting, Emphasis being: “To keep the church as God gave it the society that intrudes into the works He gave the churches must go! All necessary correction (restoration) must be made back to the New Testament scriptural pattern for Christ’s church.”

You Discriminate! You Hate! ~ “Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?” (Matt. 15:12)) What Jesus said that the Pharisees heard in Matt. 15:11 caused them great displeasure, but there was no wrong on Jesus’ part. He exposed the Pharisees’ human tradition by explaining that such does not come from God, but man’s own mind (cf. “but you say” Matt. 15:5). He said their hypocritical worship centered in teaching as doctrine the precepts of mere men (Matt. 15:9). He answered the above question by saying “Every plant, which My Father has not planted, shall be rooted up.” His truthful answer called them “BLIND LEADERS (GUIDES) of the BLIND” saying both fall into the pit (Matt. 15:14). His words were the words of the Father; He always did the things that were pleasing to Him (Jo. 6:38, 8:29, 14:10). He did not teach that it is wrong to name and describe false religious beliefs. He said concerning their doctrines, “Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees” (Matt. 16:6). Why? Because both really were blind guides of the blind! They invalidated the Word of God by their traditions bound as doctrine (Matt. 15:6). And just as today – their upholding human tradition brought with it money, prestige and power (Jo. 12:43; Lk. 16:13-15).

For the Naïve, Scoffers and Fools  In Proverbs chapter one “Wisdom” shouts publicly to all including the simple minded (naïve), scorners (scoffers) and fools. Religious and scriptural applications are made with propaganda techniques. God doesn’t Name Call. If God says someone or some group is stupid then they are stupid! God does not use Glittering Generalities. He did not choose words and phrases with always favorable implications! God does not us the Plain Folks approach. God is not just one of us! God used “true” GUILT BY ASSOCIATION. The three mentioned in the title are grouped and belong together, God says. God did not use the Band Wagon. Accepting God’s law and obeying it will not put you in the majority!

A Lesson On Being Fleeceable For The Naïve (Gullible) And Simple Minded  Some are amazed at just how GULLIBLE Christians can be. At least that’s what some say. This response was written to concur with such amazement. Why not read it and learn why some believe everything they are told?
