The "L" list: to help with finding a topic look at the words in BOLD print.

Jeremiah’s Lamentations – Look Who’sCast into Hell! Two prior articles deal with the days of Jeremiah: Zedekiah Would not Listen and Jeremiah and the Unfaithful Remnant . This article describes the abject misery in Jerusalem as God brings His judgments upon Judah and destroys Jerusalem. Although the word “hell” is not found in the LAMENTATIONS of JEREMIAH it is seen everywhere. Read about the various classifications of individuals who were cast into eternal torment.

An End! The Babylonian Captivity

(Part Three: FOCUS ON JEREMIAH’S LAMENTATIONS)

WHAT “END”? The Babylonian Captivity – Three Stages (605 B.C., 597 B.C., 586 B.C.)

Eze 7:2 “And you, son of man, thus says the Lord GOD to the land of Israel: 'An end! The end has come    upon the four corners of the land.

Eze 7:3 Now the end has come upon you, And I will send My anger against you; I will judge you according to your ways, And I will repay you for all your abominations. I thought it would be good for the younger christians in the church here to see clearly the truth in these statements concerning Israel's provocation and rebellion against God -- and especially through their lust for idolatry:

*SEE THE TRUTH IN THESE STATEMENTS: •Deu 9:6 Therefore understand that the LORD your God is not giving you this good land to possess because of your righteousness, for you are a stiffnecked people.•Deu 9:7 "Remember! Do not forget how you provoked the LORD your God to wrath in the wilderness. From the day that you departed from the land of Egypt until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against the LORD.•Deu 9:24 You have been rebellious against the LORD from the day that I knew you.

One repeated important application in this study: Pro19:27 Cease listening to instruction, my son, and you will stray from the words of knowledge.

Various Newspaper Articles from 2018 There are four NEWSPAPER articles selected from 2018: (1) Jezebel A Woman Politician ~ Surely Quality Skills, Empathy with Honor (2) Surely God Had No Place in the Creation ~ But If You Could Only

Talk to Stephen Hawking Now! (3) Surely Very Beneficial ~ The “Virtues” of Vulgar LANGUAGE (4) The “Y” Chromosome ~ Surely “Men” Disappear in less than 5 Million Years.

A Study of the Antichrists Here is a study that corrects false views that many today have of what the Bible teaches about the antichrists. A major point in the articles defines the "LAST DAYS."

Why We Rejoice With One Another  God delights over His people to do them good (De. 28:63). The Psalmist said, “Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart” (Ps. 97:11). We are commanded to rejoice with those who rejoice, and to weep with those who weep, being of the same mind one toward another (Rom. 12:15-16). Our being sorrowful when one is arrogant and suffers is different from sharing joy and sorrow as Paul spoke of. If one of us suffers because we remain arrogant and obstinate then our tears will be the tears of Jeremiah if we love them (cf. Jer. 13:17).  Concerned reader, there are situations where man is LAUGHING and God is not! (Prov. 1:26). God warned there would be a time when He was rejoicing and they are not! However, you will find such “rejoice with” applications in this article as (1) I Can Rejoice With One Who Is Faithful Whom I Know God Delights Over To Do Good; (2) I Can’t Rejoice With Another When I See The Vanity Of The World; (3) I Can Rejoice With One Who Rejoice In Truth; (4) I Can Rejoice With One Who Wants God’s Instruction, Counsel, And Eye Upon Them.

Selected Newspaper Articles   These are selected articles that appeared in our local newspaper, The Sun. The intent of these articles is that each shows a love for and desire to present the Truth without incorporating the emotional flavor so popular with other religious bodies today. Included is “Coming To Worship ~ A Spectator Sport!” Because LAUGHTER is one of the easiest responses to induce it is being used for deception.  Laughter keeps one’s emotions foremost rather than reason; it shuts out thoughts of fearing God, eternity, human frailty, either reward or punishing following one’s death. The sinner is made to feel good when they should feel bad! Moreover, religious counterfeits have seduced the simple minded into accepting the social as the spiritual and worship.

Rule of Law Points From the authority implied in the “name” of Jesus Christ, who has all authority, several points are made concerning the Gospel as the power of God unto salvation for all men, Jesus’ authority to judge by His LAW, Sin as a violation of Christ’s LAW and how His LAW convicts of sin. Major emphasis is also given to the RULE OF LAW being attacked by ignorance, wrongful intent, good intentions, sincerity, carelessness, ignoring, impulse and inconsistency, showing partiality, outright defiance, distortion of one’s words and partial narratives of the Word (to neglect to teach the whole counsel of God, Acts 20:27, 32.). Applications include God is no respecter of persons, to show respect of persons is sin, the kind of judgment that condemns oneself, and the one who boasts in God’s law but dishonors God through breaking the law.

“All You Really Have To Do Is Believe In God”  Jesus said, “Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven” (Matt. 7:21). Please look below for the “end of the MOSAIC LAW:

Points made concerning both the Father’s will and JESUS are:

  1.   Jesus did the will of the father who sent Him (cf. John 6:37-38).

  2.   Jesus’ words are the Father’s (John 17:14, 17).

  3.   Jesus was seeking the Father’s glory not His own (Jo. 7:17-18).

  4.   Jesus’ authority was the Father’s! (Read John 12:48-50).

  5.   Jesus gave us the Father’s word which is truth (John 17:14, 17).

  6.   One cannot come to Christ except by the will of the Father (Jo. 6:37).

  7.   The Father’s will is that you believe in Jesus His Son (Jo. 6:45).

  8.   The “work of God,” or requirement of God is that one believes in Jesus whom He has sent (John 6:26-29).

  9.   The Father’s will is that eternal life comes through belief in Christ (John 6:40).

10.   Eternal life is gained by knowing His Father and the Son whom He sent (Jo. 17:3).

11.  Jesus is the only way to the Father (Jo. 14:6).

12.  The doing of the Father’s will establishes one’s relationship with Christ (Matt. 12:50).

13.  Those who do believe will not perish (Jo.3:16).

14.  The belief in Christ that saves is a belief that obeys Him, else the wrath of God abides upon one (cf. Matt. 7:21; Jo. 3:36; Heb. 5:9).

15.  The one who doesn’t believe God has given us eternal life in His Son makes God a liar (I John 5:10-11).

16.  This is all based in the Scriptures (John 5:39; De. 18:18-19).

17.  Jesus didn’t say that they “can’t” believe and obey but they “would not” (John 8:24).

18.  His word which was the Father’s necessitates baptism for initial obedience in order that one might be saved (cf. Matt. 28:18-20 “all” authority for “all” nations; Mk. 16:15-16; Acts 16:31; Acts 22:16 an example of Saul obeying the Son of God).

19.  Christ was “end of the Law” (Rom. 10:4). Both Jew and Gentile are saved the same way by obeying the Gospel (Rom. 1:16, 17, Rom. 3:29-30).

20.  To believe in Christ is to believe in the Father (cf. John 12:44-45). Of course, for that is the Father’s will! (see above)

21.  To reject Christ is to reject the Father’s word (cf. John 12:48-50, 14:24). Read the boldness of Peter and John in the newspaper article above (Acts 4:12-13).

22.  To receive Christ is to receive the Father (cf. John 13:20). Jesus told why some do not receive Him (cf. John 5:43-44).

23.  If you don’t love Christ you don’t keep the Father’s words (cf. John 14:24).

24.  If you keep the Father’s will you will keep Christ’s commandments (cf. John 14:15, 24, 12:49).

25.  To abide in Jesus’ love is to abide in the Father’s love (cf. John 14:21, 15:9-10; I John 4:16).

26.  To be in Christ is to be in the Father (cf. I John 4:15-16).

27.  Knowing the Son is knowing the Father (cf. John 14:7-10, 1:18, 10:15; Matt. 11:27 Plain!).

28.  If you deny the Son you do not have the Father (cf. I John 2:23). You’ve called God a liar! (I John 5:10). You will die in your sins (John 8:24). Those who deny the Son are in the power of Satan (I John 5:19-20).

29.  Whoever confesses the Son has the Father (cf. I John 2:23).

30.  Does the Father’s will really say all that one must do is believe in God in a very general way? No!

This becomes, when we understand the expression “the will of My Father,” the very lesson people need who say Jesus is Lord and then profess there are other religions that lead to the Father that don’t believe Jesus is Lord (cp. Lk. 6:46). And again, notice in our study what knowing and doing “the will of My Father” does to the statement often heard, i.e. all you have to do is believe in God.

Casting Down Eloquence & Sophistry Series (2 Cor. 10:4-5) False teachers are getting away with things warned of in this series. In conclusion here are IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF JESUS’ TEACHING DURING HIS MINISTRY:

1. Jesus correctly explained the LAW OF MOSES (cf. Matt. 12:12). Moreover a scribe understood and stated that Jesus had rightly explained the greatest commandments of the Law (cf. Mk. 12:28-34).

2. Christ exposed the empty “traditions” (man’s not God’s) of the Scribes, Pharisees and Sadducees – religious leaders of His day (cf. Matt.15:1-10; 22:23-33).

3. Some of His teachings contained teaching to be used under the New Covenant that replaced the Old Mosaic Covenant (cf. Mk. 16:15-16; Matt. 18:15-18, 19:3-9; cp. Col. 2:14-17).

4. There is the necessity of identifying when the New Covenant came into effect. Jesus spoke of the church as yet in the future when He said, “I will build My church…” (Matt. 16:18). In giving instruction on His Supper, the fruit of the vine is said to represent His blood of the New Testament (Matt. 26:28). His priesthood necessitated that the law changed from the Old to the New (cf. Heb. 7:12). The apostles preached the New Testament on Pentecost as recorded in Acts 2.

5. No portion of His teaching denies that the judgments of God brought upon the world, as recorded in the Old Testament, were indeed left as warnings for us today! (See Lesson Four). People love the deception in being told that God today just isn’t like that (cf. Rom.16:17). But God will punish the wicked in Hades and eternally in Hell (cf. Lk.16:22-26; Matt. 10:28).

Jesus Came to Fulfill the Law (Matt. 5:17-18) People are quick to quote these passages to justify using a combination of the Mosaic LAW (the Old Testament or Covenant) along with the New Testament. This is used for any number of things, but especially for items of worship that they particularly like that cannot be justified by the New Testament teaching concerning the church of Christ. The attraction of special clothing (cf. Ex. 28) for ministers and priests, along with the use of instruments, candles, incense etc. would be examples. Since we are not given these in the New Testament for worship are we free to choose one or all if we want to? Paul rebuked those seeking justification by the Old Covenant (Mosaic Law) saying, “You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace” (Gal. 5:4).

Sects, and Sects Among Us : here is an outline / notes, etc., on the sects of the Pharisees and Sadducees, as well as application to sects among us today. When speaking of the church Jesus said “I will build My church” (Matt 16:18). It is His church: 1Co 3:10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.; 1Co 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.; Eph 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; …the sect of the Pharisees added “more” to God’s word than was written in the Old Testament – today sects add “more” than revealed in the New Testament concerning the church of Christ.

The article contains information on the Sects, Pharisees, Sadducees, Scribes, LAWYERS, Jewish Council or Sanhedrin, the Herodians, Human Tradition handed down and bound making thus making void the law of God, Heresy is defined, Paul gave up the sect of the Pharisees to be a Christian, problems sects caused to the church in the first century and how they were dealt with, how some think they can Counsel God, Traditions Handed Down today Have a Beginning, Sects Among Us Associated with Human Tradition are Florida College and the Guardian of Truth Foundation, the Arlington Meeting (1968) between some chosen “Institutionalist and Non-Institutionalist” is exposed --- some of both sides being intent on justifying the Human Societies of their own choosing, how the Akin Fund among Non-Institutionalist is used against them at the Arlington Meeting, Emphasis being: “To keep the church as God gave it the society that intrudes into the works He gave the churches must go! All necessary correction (restoration) must be made back to the New Testament scriptural pattern for Christ’s church.”

False Doctrines on the State of Man After Death Corrected by the Scriptures  Some religions believe that one ceases to exist after death and before the Day of Judgment. The Seventh-day Adventists’ belief is stated here to illustrate. Then compare Scriptural After-Death Scenarios such as the Transfiguration of Jesus and those present; an after death conversation with Abraham who is with LAZARUS. This study relates to scriptures showing that death cannot separate the faithful from the love of Christ and that one does “not” cease to exist after death and before the Judgment Day.

Such As The Father Seeks To Worship Him The following article was written with a view to a better understanding of acceptable worship in the  assembly, and imploring “all” who are members to help out and join together in a concerted effort to repel the present attack upon worship today. Read the article and then, if you are a Christian, step forward, speak up, give counsel and do not put the sole burden of having to deal with unseemly conduct during worship solely upon those WHO STAND BEFORE ALL AND LEAD!

You Discriminate! You Hate! ~ “Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?” (Matt. 15:12)  What Jesus said that the Pharisees heard in Matt. 15:11 caused them great displeasure, but there was no wrong on Jesus’ part. He exposed the Pharisees’ human tradition by explaining that such does not come from God, but man’s own mind (cf. “but you say” Matt. 15:5). He said their hypocritical worship centered in teaching as doctrine the precepts of mere men (Matt. 15:9). He answered the above question by saying “Every plant, which My Father has not planted, shall be rooted up.” His truthful answer called them “BLIND LEADERS of the BLIND” saying both fall into the pit (Matt. 15:14). His words were the words of the Father; He always did the things that were pleasing to Him (Jo. 6:38, 8:29,14:10). He did not teach that it is wrong to name and describe false religious beliefs. He said concerning their doctrines, “Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees” (Matt. 16:6). Why? Because both really were blind guides of the blind! They invalidated the Word of God by their traditions bound as doctrine (Matt. 15:6). And just as today – their upholding human tradition brought with it money, prestige and power (Jo. 12:43; Lk. 16:13-15).

Things Often Missing During Afflictions The applications in this brief study will deal with those who are in affliction.  Dear reader, you will notice that with some of these God has no pleasure. For others, they see God’s faithfulness during their afflictions. Moreover, you can study how afflictions cause one to want to LEARN and keep God’s precepts! Why not read this either for your self or with a view to being able to help another?

A Consideration of I Cor. 14:34-35   Women’s conduct in both LEARNING and teaching. The role of women in the church is of such a nature that they are to LEARN IN QUIETNESS with all submission. They must not teach, nor usurp authority over the man, but be in quietness ( I Tim. 2:11-12).The necessity of this role prompted the following statement to the church at Corinth: "Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. [35] And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church" (I Cor. 14:34-35).

Many and Few by Contrast  It is better to have few than to have the human organizations our brethren have formed that intrude into the work God gave the local churches to do. God’s blessings come for the few as well as many who are willing to respect scriptural authority. hen doing so if few they will nothing to be ashamed of – they certainly will not go by “I feel like it’s right” or “I don’t have any scripture BUT…” Those who go by feelings or emotions alone will LEAVE.

Various Newspaper Articles from 2018 #2  Here are three newspaper articles from 2018: (1) Surely Know What A Pharisee Is ~ When Charging Others As One! (2) Surely Friends of Jesus! Those Who Accuse Others of “LEGALISM” for Obeying Christ’s Commandments (3) Surely Farfetched ~ The Church Can’t Be About Religion Or It Is A Cult.

Selected Newspaper Articles  Dear reader the following titles are selected newspaper articles that appeared in our local newspaper the Yuma Sun. Advertizing for many churches tends to follow the current trend for advertizing in general and has an emotional “pitch” to possibly interest the reader. The intent of these articles is that each shows a love for and desire to present the Truth without incorporating the emotional flavor so popular with other religious bodies today. The topics are: “The Buyer Is Like The Seller; The Creditor Is Like The Debtor” --- includes “the LENDER is like the borrower” (What God’s word says about liars, cheats and murderers applies to all – the rich and poor!); “Wicked Kids, Teens, Beating & Stomping Others” (This exposes the lie, “Oh they’re just too young to know better!”); “Some Wrights Are So Wrong” (When so called “Pastors” are asked if John 14:6 is true and if they think Islam is another way to salvation, and then suggest that there is another path to the Father they deny what Jesus and the apostles taught! (cf. John 12:48).

Don’t Call it Easter just “Resurrection Sunday” and Keep the Human Tradition  This article contains a complaint spoken by one who read a newspaper article wherein LENT’S law of fasting is exposed as human tradition, and not the teaching of the New Testament. The article is appears along with her complaint. Most who observe Easter services know nothing about the apostasies in the 2nd Century and what happened from the Period 100 A.D. to 325 A.D. A short view of apostasies from Phillip Schaff’s History of the Christian Church is presented with specific mention of the observance of the so called Christian Sabbath, Pentecost, Passover, Easter, Epiphany and Christmas.

Hating Homosexuality This article from 1999 relates to the meeting between Jerry Falwell and the so called gay Christians. The press presented them as "gay Christians" meaning that they were practicing homosexuals and LESBIANS. The purpose of that meeting was to reduce violence and hatred toward homosexuals. The purpose of that meeting was to reduce violence and hatred toward homosexuals. When the press presents practicing HOMOSEXUALS AND LESBIANS as Christians who present themselves in good standing with God, then the contradictions from a religious point of view must be exposed! And that's what the article does. It shows clearly how "practicing" homosexuals and lesbians are not to accepted and fellowshipped in Christ's church.

Casting Down Eloquence & Sophistry Series (2 Cor. 10:4-5) While professing love and understanding false teachers make a mockery of Christ’s teaching in “how” they use Matt. 22:39 – they twist “love thy neighbor as thyself.” They fail to put it properly with the preceding first and greatest commandment – to LOVE GOD WITH ONE’S “ALL” (cf. Matt. 22:37-38). If you love God you will keep His commandments (cf. Jo. 14:15, 21, 23; I Jo. 5:6). To “not” love God is to “not” keep His commands, Jesus said (Jo. 14:24). Love does no wrong to one’s neighbor! (Rom. 13:10). This love does not rejoice in unrighteousness but in the truth (I Cor. 13:6). All unrighteousness is sin, John said (I Jo. 5:17). “Everyone” who practices sin transgresses God’s law, for sin is a transgression of God’s law (I Jo. 3:4). Great deceivers are using “love your neighbor” to put their own stamps of approval on iniquity! They teach the local church is to accept and fellowship heterosexual couples living together in fornication which is sin (Gal. 5:19), accept those in LESBIAN and HOMOSEXUAL relationships which are sinful (I Cor. 6:9, Rom. 1:26-27), and condone and fellowship adulterous marriages (Matt. 19:9). These deceivers are guilty of rejoicing in iniquity, not loving God and being religiously injurious to all in their wicked deceptions! Their churches are full of iniquity and their members love to have it so (2 Tim. 3:1-5, 4:3).

The Transgender Attack This contains two newspaper articles: 1. Surely Not Shameless ~ The Transgender Directive; 2. Surely Not Living a Lie ~ The Transgender Directive. These present both the spiritual and physical dangers tied to the recent “I think I identify with transgender” decree from President Obama. This is moving quickly in our society and especially so when the media’s bias is presenting the kind of things that promote LGBT (LESBIAN, Gay *Homosexual, Bi-sexual, Trans-sexual).

Key points include scriptures on: evil thoughts, evil desire, lewdness, shameless behavior, uncleanness, motives, the mind, depraved passions, wrath of God upon the children of disobedience, walked in immoralities, lived in immoralities, despise wickedness and immorality.

“They Delight In Destroying!”; “They Are Not Good People, Nor Children.” : These two articles connect both adults and children to the destructive influence of Woke philosophy, LGBTQ, and Trans Influence.

The Charge that Jesus was a Drag King Etc. A College professor has been quoted as saying Jesus was a drag king, pan-sexual, who was cross dressing and had lascivious desires at the Passover supper. This capped with Christ (God) lusting sexually after the Father (God) on the Cross. You’d think a “high” prof in a theological class would know God is Spirit and theirs is not a physical relationship. This article gets to the core error of one who held such a prestigious place among men – Sin and what Jesus had to say about it. There is no Sin in God (I Pet. 2:22). His Word reveals LEWDNESS is expressed in one’s words and not just otherwise behavior. Evil imaginations and images stated in explanations such as we read are condemned throughout the New Testament. The only right thing to say about anyone accusing Jesus of lewdness (in word, thought or deed) is Christ’s own references to man’s heart and what comes out of it in his speech! You may read now about the filthy speech.

The Majority Know Another Jesus The church at Corinth gladly tolerated fools who taught another Jesus and different gospel, Paul said (cf. 2 Cor. 11:4, 19).  It is possible for one to read the trifling literature of fools and possess a completely false view of Jesus. Read the Gospels for yourself and see what He really did do and teach. Here’s a start with applications from the Gospels themselves that show the stark differences between what most think Jesus taught and what He really did teach! Verses are presented that deal with: (5) those who tell you that you cannot understand God’s word are LIARS…

Selected Newspaper Articles  Dear reader the following bold heading is a selected article that appeared in our local newspaper, the Yuma Sun. This article titlled “I’m Mr. Positive!” bespeaks of the empty, vain, teaching and preaching done today by popular speakers who serve themselves and not the Lord Jesus Christ (Rom. 16:17). Mr. PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) can avoid every probing question as to soundness in teaching and love for truth with, “You’ve got to understand, I’m just being me in being totally positive in my message.” How clever the LIARS are who hide their true motives concerning their love of riches, fame, and power behind “I’m Mr. PMA!” Why not read about Mr. PMA and his motives for not using scripture and requiring repentance unto salvation? We encourage you to read each of scriptures referenced to understand your own accountability (Jo. 12:48; Matt. 7:21-27).

Unwise Unsuspiciousness (Jer. 40:14)  This is based upon Gedaliah’s mistake as recorded by Jeremiah. We see stupidity in the pattern presented by refusing to credit information given by “all”; being indignant towards the informant and accusing him of LYING. “You liar!” You will often hear that when the evidence points to something one doesn’t want to believe. He should have listened.

They Don’t Have A Right To Be Supported By Our Local Churches The matter of the Truth Magazine Lectureship has come up again (Guardian Of Truth Foundation’s). I ask you to consider the following points: (1) What they cannot accept tells what they are; (2) Their use of old LIBERAL INSTITUTIONAL SLOGANS tell what they are; (3) Their silly comparisons tell what they lack.

God's Divine Organization ~ The Local Church, Part One of Two This is Lesson Four (Part One of Two) in our Series: "Fundamental Lessons on the Church." Lesson Four, Part One: "God's Divine Organization ~ The Local Church, Part One of Two." In this lesson you will be studying the local church as the organization that God gave for the collective work of Christians in evangelism, edification, worship and benevolence to needy saints. You will take an in depth look at the organization of the local church according to God's pattern in the New Testament.  The LIBERALITY of the members of the local church in giving is given proper consideration in this study.

Be Successful Where You Are Too often, I’m afraid, small churches are lacking in the duty of “LIBERALITY” (I Cor. 16:1-3). The article encourages local churches to be successful in such, and all things! Question: How is your liberality doing concerning the local church you are a member of? Why not take time to read some of the important reminders for us to be good at imparting?

Selected Newspaper Articles The following are selected newspaper articles ran by the Valley church of Christ for 2009-2010. We put some together periodically in order to post them on our website. Both churches and preachers would do well to consider that just offering a few scriptural points on important topics can go a long way in helping others. Consider the following points on (1) Why Pentecostal / Charismatic Tactics Easily Deceive; (2) Complaining With No Intention Of Making Things Scriptural; (3) Stupid Kid’s Games Draw Customers; (4) LIBERATION THEOLOGY & Marxist Ideology; (5) Human Creeds & Statements of Faith.

Breaking Scriptural Patterns in Good Conscience Many refuse to recognize and admit that doctrinal matters are included in maintaining a good conscience. In other words concerning “conscience” it is not as if one is always at LIBERTY to do what they want. Just because one chooses to do something, thinks they can do it, and feels good about it doesn’t necessarily make it right! One important point is, “It is wrong to take a matter of “LIBERTY” out of context and apply it to the collective work and worship of the local church. Now why not study about this important matter by reading the article?

The Way of Integrity Psalms 119 This Psalm is often avoided because of its length. This study begins with eight points on integrity with God. You will note that our inconsistencies are often our reproach in life. And that there is boldness in serving God when there are no inconsistencies. Also, that affliction is one of God’s ways to “make” us understand His precepts. One lesson is what God tells us to do when persecuted with a LIE. And another is that we should fear God’s judgments rather than fearing man. Understand that it is on the grounds of your integrity that you may plead to God for protective care against the wicked (Ps. 119:121-128). These are but a few of the good lesson presented through studying this Psalm. Why not read the article and while doing so read it along with your Bible?

Selected Newspaper Articles Here are four newspaper articles presented to the community with a love for the truth. The intent is to present God’s truths without incorporating the emotional flavor so popular with other religious bodies: (3) “God Knows When Men Conceal The Truth” presents a scriptural view of those who claim to preach God’s word while restraining their lips for covetousness sake. Read what God says about those who hate the one who reproves sin and speaks uprightly; who hate the truth of God’s word that states the sins; who have changed the truth for a LIE; who being covetous and not fearing God flatter the arrogant rich and powerful in society; who are companions of those who lapse into falsehood for fear of being persecuted; who hate the good and love the evil. Such make up the list of those God knows (and those who study His word know) who would like to fix things to prevent true Christians from speaking about sins that damn the soul.

What Stubbornness Really Is The prophet Jeremiah had a lot to say about the stubbornness of God’s people. He pulled no punches but stated plainly the carnality involved. The purpose of this study is to ensure that we understand the importance of obedience being commanded us. The seriousness of this study is seen in that the stubborn contend with God, are punished, and while being punished go yet onwards towards that point where iniquity is great, sins are numerous, and God’s punishment painfully serious! By continual stubbornness the truth perishes and LIES prevail!

The Lies Of Apostasies  The full title of this article is “The Pattern Of Lies Producing And Sustaining Apostasies.” You don’t see much on this particular part of apostasy in spite of the fact that those involved are frequently said to have misrepresented others’ statements, twist what others say in confronting them, and that they just flat make false statements. Read this article to study what Jeroboam did wrong when he said in his heart that God’s established order would not work. Besides Jeroboam’s apostasy, the article presents in detail the pattern of LIES producing apostasies from the book of Jeremiah. Some important questions answered are: Why do LIES prevail? How has the truth been affected? What Lies? What will God do in the end?

Unwise Unsuspiciousness (Jer. 40:14) This is based upon Gedaliah’s mistake as recorded by Jeremiah. We see stupidity in the pattern presented by refusing to credit information given by “all”; being indignant towards the informant and accusing him of lying (LIES). “You liar!” You will often hear that when the evidence points to something one doesn’t want to believe. He should have listened.

Why Churches Fear Applying “Scriptural Authority” ~ Selected Newspaper Articles  Concerning “Scriptural Authority.” Local churches of Christ must continue to be the pillar and support of the truth. These three articles relate to the fear manifested by church leaders who use human wisdom, emotions and LIES; whose goals are power, prestige, pleasing self and material gain. Members themselves love their false position that allows them to fulfill their own lusts. These show how secular institutions influenced by Political Correctness have become protectors and enforcers for those who despise God’s Word, thus displaying a lack of respect for “religious” freedom of speech!

Selected Newspaper Articles From The Valley Church of Christ These are selected articles that appeared in our local newspaper, The Sun. The intent of these articles is that each shows a love for and desire to present the Truth without incorporating the emotional flavor so popular with other religious bodies today. Why not read this short truthful article titled “Has Someone Pulled The Plug From Your LIFE?” LIFE for everyone, rich and poor, has its vanity and seems empty and without purpose. This LIFE on earth possesses sorrows, grief over man’s double-mindedness, deceit, and lies. One’s own sins are a vexation of spirit! Friend, the answer is not in beauty, riches, mirth or pleasure; neither will one find the answer in psychology or mere human wisdom that fails man again and again in providing the right answers to vexation of spirit. Jesus’ invitation is “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavey laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Matt. 11:28-32).

Human Life And Cloning  This article contains a simplified explanation of what human cloning might consist of for the benefit of all. It explains in simple terms the W's altered (enucleated) seed in the absence of the physical act of intimacy. All 46 chromosomes come from the H and none from the wife. The fertilized egg's equivalent is planted in the W's womb and allowed to develop into a full fledge baby after nine months. Additionally there are Scriptures from the Bible concerning Human LIFE and the Spirit of man. And this along with some Questions for one's own meditation.

9-11-2001 ~ Things I Can Count On Today  America was attacked by terrorists on this date. This is a “time” when people thrive upon inappropriate statements, and misleading applications of God’s Word. Many love to “go with the flow,” and jump on the bandwagon! Illustrations of such would be, “Nostradamas said…,” “Armageddon has come,” “the Mark of the Beast.” An important part of this study shows when men have questions as to "Why?" or "What is the future?" that Christians have a limited number of precious things that they can depend upon. These few but precious things are where a Christian's LIFE really is any day and any place that you might find them.

One Nation Under God  This article begins with an example of patronage to our flag and pledge of allegiance, but respectfully submits that the mention of God brings with it an even greater lesson concerning "Allegiance." For Christians the words "under God" are illustrative of Christ's rule over all the nations of mankind (Ps. 2:7-12; Matt. 28:18-20; I Tim. 6:15; Rev. 2:27). Moreover the earth, the world, and all who dwell therein ~ all souls are His (Ps. 24:1; Ezk. 18:4; Haggai 2:8). Through simple deduction and reduction one soon comes to understand on a Personal Individual basis that they do indeed belong to God, for He created man (Gen. 1:27). Solomon summed up the whole purpose of one's LIFE, "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man" (Eccl. 12:12). Applying the principle of God's ownership on an individual personal level means that we respond to the fact that His ownership demands our personal loyalty and obedience to His commands. Our response will determine our judgment for Paul said, "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in the body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad" (2 Cor. 5:10). Sadly, herein is where Americans are failing today!

Selected Newspaper Articles for 2013  These newspaper articles from 2013 include: (1) “Using ‘Christendom’ to Cover Religious Error”; (2) “The Ways of the Street Mugger”; (3) “Murders, Murderers, Victims”; (4) “Surely not a Hot Head” and (5) “Surely not a Greedy Person” – LIFE DOES NOT CONSIST IN THE ABUNDANCE OF THINGS POSSESSED.

You mentioned “going to Hell,” with accent.  After a bible study, which was on Forgiveness, a visitor asked me, “What do you believe about Hell?” I told him it believed Hell is real and eternal. Have you heard the saying “God said it, that settles it, I believe it”?  And that settles it IF I don’t believe it! — but I do and the visitor didn’t. He referred to Hell in his letter as “the fabled Hell.” Read this article for points that answer those who choose not to believe in Hell, although the Lord gave much teaching on eternal punishment. You will find the following words defined: DESTROY, EVERLASTING (ETERNAL) PUNISHMENT, EVERLASTING (ETERNAL LIFE), EVERLASTING DESTRUCTION, PERDITION.

Newspaper Articles   This publication contains selected newspaper articles: "Disclaimers for Fortunetellers," "Mothers of a Different Kind," "Alternative LIFESTYLES," "Fornication Kit."

Verses are presented that deal with: (1) the reason for not accepting Christ’s word is you love darkness rather than LIGHT

About the Label “Advertisement” On Our Articles   I’m often asked why there is a label of “advertisement” at the bottom of the church’s articles. They’ll often say, “No one else’s does, why yours?” The newspaper places it there. Consider this: While the designation is accurate, for our articles tell people about the church of Christ, it is obvious that the content is what we are seeking to get forward (Cf. 1 Tim. 3:15). There should be a distinct difference in what a church of Christ presents to the community, and that of the various false religions. By refusing the often sought “marketing approach” the Truth becomes apparent. It is the Truth that is important in contrast to sin and religious error. Included is an exposure of the oft used “Try Us And You’ll Like Us” pitch. People should be implored to COME TO THE LIGHT of God’s word, and not come because they’ll “like” the flattery, the socials and entertainment. Such advertisements seek to take away the “fear” of having one’s immorality exposed and thus one being seen in the TRUE LIGHT OF THE SCRIPTURES just as Jesus said:

Joh 3:19 "This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil.

Joh 3:20 "For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.

Joh 3:21 "But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God."

So Somebody Told You a Christian Cannot Sin This larger article begins with two brief newspaper articles that illustrates the habit some develop of picking a favorite verse, or verses, without considering “all” that the New Testament teaches on a particular topic. Thus we have an example of “the favorite verses syndrome.” This happens to concern the matter of Christians and when they do sin. It includes important points and topics such as “God Knows,” “Why Confess?,” “Our Advocate is Jesus Christ,” “The Wholeness of the Doctrine of Christ,” “God Gave Us His Word so We Can Practice RIGHTEOUSNESS” and “When Considering the Devil and Christians.” Understand that John is emphasizing our “practicing righteousness” as our “walk” or manner of life (I Jo. 1:6, I Jo. 3:7). We are to walk in the LIGHT and not in DARKNESS.

And there is if the church is doing its work as it should. By refusing the often sought “marketing approach” the Truth becomes apparent. It is the Truth that is important in contrast to sin and religious error. Included is an exposure of the oft used “Try Us And You’ll Like Us” pitch. The Truth is not about what YOU LIKE i.e. you looking for the biggest show in town!

The Conduct God Expects From Our Members  Read this article and it should help you to better understand the "unity of the Spirit" in the bond of peace (Eph. 4:1-3; Col. 3:12-14. These 7 Virtues are discussed as being necessary for each member of the local church: Lowliness (Humility), Meekness (Gentleness), Longsuffering (Patience), Forebearing (Showing Tolerance), Tender Mercies (Heart of Compassion), Kindness and Forgiving one another. Understanding these in this context answers such important questions as: Whom can I talk to? When do I go to another? Can I speak publicy in rebuking to thus maintain this unity? What would A REFUSAL TO LISTEN INDICATE? What happens to one who does not forgive if one repents?

Jeremiah and the Unfaithful Remnant  In a prior article “Zedekiah Would not Listen” God repeated the same warning to Zedekiah, and to all the people. You may desire to read that article that deals with the same period of Judah’s history. The ACCOUNT JEREMIAH GIVES OF THE UNFAITHFUL REMNANT is one chalked full of their lies, false requests for prayer on their behalf, and idolatry as God repeats His warning. They SHOULD LISTEN AND “CLEARLY UNDERSTAND” WHAT GOD SAYS HE’LL DO TO THOSE WHO DO NOT LISTEN AND OBEY IS EXACTLY WHAT HE DOES! They did NOT LISTEN to God’s Words but wanted prayers from the one who spoke God’s Word to them. They were “covering all bases” – just in case. And it isn’t working!  Read this lesson and understand God.

Unwise Unsuspiciousness (Jer. 40:14)  At times is unwise not to be SUSPICIOUS. This is based upon GEDALIAH’S MISTAKE as recorded by Jeremiah. We see stupidity in the pattern presented by refusing to credit information given by all, and being indignant towards the informant who trying to help and accusing him of lying. “You liar!” You will often hear that when the evidence points to something one doesn’t want to believe. HE SHOULD HAVE LISTENED.

Selected Newspaper Articles Here are four newspaper articles presented to the community with a love for the truth. The intent is to present God’s truths without incorporating the emotional flavor so popular with other religious bodies. “When You’re Promised You’ll Like It!” exposes “pitches” for attracting visitors contrasted with what God’s word should produce in those who hear. As one in town put it, “I hate to admit it but going where I go I think at times I’m looking at Ken and Barbie.” Ken and Barbie productions are made to please men not God! (cf. Gal. 1:10). Be aware that God’s word teaches that the fault lies with “both” the LISTENERS and the speakers. Read the article and see such LISTENERS presented for what they really are according to the scriptures.

The Transgender Attack This contains two newspaper articles: 1. Surely Not Shameless ~ The Transgender; 2.

All Lives Matter – A Hot Topic! When one turns to the Gospel of Christ immediately its emphasis is ALL LIVES MATTER (Mk. 16:15-16).  Saying “black lives matter” became political and enforceable and people followed like sheep! All lives matter — don’t be stupid and endorse the Black Lives Matter organization that is evil. Have the courage as a Christian to say all lives matter. This is fundamental to our example as a teaching element and concern for lost souls (Cf. Mk. 16:15-16, Gal. 6:10, etc.). There is NO PARTIALITY WITH GOD (Rom. 2:5-11; Acts 10:34 …God is no RESPECTER OF PERSONS).

Memory #2  You may desire to read “Memory #1” for April 2016 before this continuing article concerning some simple applications pertaining to one’s memory. Emphasis in this article is given to the importance of our remembering our own past conduct. Paul did not exclude himself when speaking of past conduct before his conversion – stating plainly that he acted IGNORNANTLY as a blasphemer, persecutor and violent aggressor (“injurious”) against the church. He included himself in being foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, LIVING IN MALICE and ENVY, HATEFUL, and HATING ONE ANOTHER (Titus 3:3). There is also the importance of our not forgetting even one of God’s benefits of salvation in Christ. Once restored one must not revert back--- thus once again forgetting the necessary obedience for salvation in Christ.

There is nothing comparable to the truth of God’s words with its wisdom. The topics are: “The Buyer Is Like The Seller; The Creditor Is Like The Debtor” --- includes “the lender is like the borrower” (What God’s word says about greed, high interest and fees, LOAN SHARKS, liars, cheats and murderers applies to all – the rich and poor!); “Wicked Kids, Teens, Beating & Stomping Others” (This exposes the lie, “Oh they’re just too young to know better!”); “Some Wrights Are So Wrong” (When so called “Pastors” are asked if John 14:6 is true and if they think Islam is another way to salvation, and then suggest that there is another path to the Father they deny what Jesus and the apostles taught! (cf. John 12:48).

Here is an excerpt on the all-sufficiency of the individual and the LOCAL CHURCH: “…And get this, sometimes they’ll claim that whereas their brethren speak of the all-sufficiency of the local church they are somehow denying them their viewpoint of the all-sufficiency of the “individual.” We aren’t denying them anything! If they want to follow the New Testament pattern just mentioned then they can be as capable and active as they have ability and energy. Paul was very effective in his sufficiency as an individual and I think that we are all aware of that!” (For Human Organizations or Institutions doing the work of the local church see “Human Organizations” (H index); “Institutions” (I index).

The Great Apostasy is Done, Finished!  This article brings the apostasy of Individual Societies built by Christians up to date. What was proposed in the 1800s and then again in our lifetime has taken root. Faithful members have always recognized that the congregational plan is the divine arrangement. Societies built today to do the works God gave His organization, the LOCAL CHURCH, to do are additions to His plan. They are not as is said just another avenue, or toll, for the church to do its work. Again, they are additions to God’s divine plan! This article applicable to the Guardian of Truth Foundation Lectureship, Florida College engaged in worship and evangelism, and multiple CAMPS that engage in worship and edification. In conjunction with this you might also want to read “Individually Supported Societies on the Sideline.” (For Human Organizations or Institutions doing the work of the local church see “Human Organizations” (H index); “Institutions” (I index).

Our Brethren’s “Sole Purpose” Argument & “The Percentage Justification”  “Some of our brethren have built and maintained human organizations (businesses) that do a portion of the above works belonging to the LOCAL CHURCH. Such will often seek to justify their own organization’s work in these areas by citing a percentage basis. They will reason if the “sole purpose” is evangelism to save the lost world then it would be wrong. Then they say that the “spiritual work” done is not the primary work of the legitimate business in question. This is an all too obvious maneuver or trick that intentionally takes away the importance of the “whole” as belonging to God’s specified organization -- the local church arrangement given to His people.” (For Human Organizations or Institutions doing the work of the local church see “Human Organizations” (H index); “Institutions” (I index).

Should “Grass Roots” Pol. Movements Address Local Churches of Christ  This is election year and I’m hearing that a pastor (denominational usage) is afraid if he doesn’t allow his church to have a requested political presentation from our grass root political movement. It never dawned on such that a church of Christ would be in scriptural agreement that such is not authorized as part of an assembly of the church. Where did personal conscience suddenly go? What happened to religious liberty? Read this study to understand why all the members of the local church are in agreement, and make no apologies for respecting the authorized work of the assemblies of the church.

INCLUDED:

1. Christ’s Kingdom is a Spiritual Kingdom, Col. 1:13.

2. The LOCAL CHURCH With It’s Own Oversight & Collective Work.

3. Assemblies are the Collective Function of the particular LOCAL “Body” as an Organization.

4. Some Scripturally Authorized Purposes for the Assemblies of the Local Church.

5. Christians as Individuals Participated in Government.

6. God did not Give the Gospel to Civil Government.

7. A Civil or State Religion.

8. Concerning Political Movements & Organizations.

9. Man’s Ways are not God’s Ways (Isa. 55:8-9).

10. It is Not a Matter of Just Losing One’s Tax Exempt Status.

An Example of going beyond Local Church Organization – The Seventh-day Adventists (Going beyond LOCAL CHURCH ORGANIZATION). Here is a comparison of Christ’s church as set forth in the New Testament and the Seventh-day Adventists. As you read this you will see important points on “how” false religions get started. There is a vast difference in stating that we must go back to the New Testament patterns for the organization and worship of Christ's church He built -- and the establishment of a denomination upon false visions and leaders falsely claiming the gift of prophecy (I Cor. 13:8). New Testament authority for what is practiced is sorely lacking today!

The Conduct God Expects From Our Members Read this article and it should help you to better understand the "unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace" (Eph. 4:1-3; Col. 3:12-14). Understanding these in this context answers such important questions as: Whom can I talk to?, When do I go to another?, Can I speak publicly in rebuking to thus maintain this unity?, What would a refusal to listen indicate? And, What happens to one who does not forgive if one repents?

What To Tell Your Mate When They Are Guilty of Wrath Christians need to study and then be honest and make the right applications to one another, all family members, and especially with their own mates (Cf. I Th. 5:14). The stubborn and unrepentant heart despises the riches of God’s kindness, forbearance and LONGSUFFERING. God’s forbearance doesn’t mean weakness (connected with their despising or ignoring Him), nor does his LONGSUFFERING equal forgiveness! Paul demands repentance!

Memory #2  You may desire to read “Memory #1” for April 2016 before this continuing article concerning some simple applications pertaining to one’s memory. Emphasis in this article is given to the importance of our remembering our own past conduct. Paul did not exclude himself when speaking of past conduct before his conversion – stating plainly that he acted ignorantly as a blasphemer, persecutor and violent aggressor (“injurious”) against the church. He included himself in being foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another (Titus 3:3). Paul thought he should do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth (Acts 26:9). This is the difference between “I think I should” and what is right before God! He said he was “chief of sinners” and thus he became an example of the LONGSUFFERING OF GOD for others to learn by who are going to believe on Christ – to show that the same mercy extended to Paul through obedience to Christ is for all. You use this to show others who are not yet Christians, who believe they have done so much wrong that they are not worthy of salvation in Christ, that the promise of forgiveness of sins when one repents and obeys in baptism is for them (cf. Acts 2:21 with 2:36-41).

“All You Really Have To Do Is Believe In God”  Jesus said, “Not every one that saith unto me, LORD, LORD, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven” (Matt. 7:21). This is a lesson today for “the foolish” who refuse to recognize that faith without works is useless and dead  (see James 2:20-26). Above all it becomes, when we understand the expression “the will of My Father,” the very lesson people need who say Jesus is LORD and then profess there are other religions that lead to the Father that don’t believe Jesus is LORD (cp. Lk. 6:46). And again, notice in our study what knowing and doing “the will of My Father” does to the statement often heard, i.e. all you have to do is believe in God.

And there is if the church is doing its work as it should. By refusing the often sought “marketing approach” the Truth becomes apparent. It is the Truth that is important in contrast to sin and religious error. Included is an exposure of the oft used “Try Us And You’ll Like Us” pitch.

People should be implored to come to the light of God’s word, and not come because they’ll “like” the flattery, the socials and entertainment. Such advertisements seek to take away the “fear” of having one’s immorality exposed and thus one being seen in the true light of the Scriptures, Jesus said:

Joh 3:19  "This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil.

Joh 3:20  "For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.

Joh 3:21  "But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God."

It is more than obvious that those who are constantly church shopping — always looking for the next “biggest show” in town — really hate the light of God’s Word while professing to love Jesus. Jesus said, “And why call ye me, LORD, LORD, and do not the things which I say?” (Lk. 6:46). People are undeniably being led to believe that all they need to do is show up for a service they’re sure to like — then they can go right back to their worldly life styles!

The Worship of the Church. This is Lesson Five in our Series: "Fundamental Lessons on the Church." Lesson Five: "The Worship of the Church." In this lesson you will be studying the items of worship for the church:

   1. The LORD'S SUPPER upon the first day of the week.

   2. Instruction in God's word.

   3. Singing.

   4. Prayer.

   5. Giving.

By studying these items of worship you can learn what   "edification" means and how it was practiced in the assemblies of the first century church.

A Review of “Church Validation of The Lord’s Supper” by Robert Turner (Torch Mag. 1984) Brother Turner’s article was printed in Torch Magazine in 1984. He presents the roots of the assembly of the local church as being essential to the Lord’s Supper as those of Catholicism. This is wrong! When he finds the LORD’S SUPPER in the New Testament what “kind” of assembly does he find it in? He tells you himself as you read his article. It is really hard to write about the Supper and not get the assembly of the local church for that purpose in there.

Have you changed the pattern for the Lord’s Supper because of the Virus to please yourself? So what is this thing that some brethren in small groups, at home, etc. are partaking of the LORD’S SUPPER? One of the concerns brethren have had is that some would do that and change the saints assembling together to break bread (Acts 20:7; I Cor. 11: 17, 18, 20, 33). Brethren viruses do not change that! The pattern is that the Lord’s Supper was in a planned assembly of the local church for that purpose, and partaken of by those Christians who assembled (Acts 20:7; I Cor. 11:33). You don’t throw that out just because of a Pandemic! How lightly do some think of scriptural authority?

A Review of Bob Owen’s “Individual Communion” Here is a review of Bob Owen’s “Individual Communion” talk he gave concerning the LORD’S SUPPER and the corona virus restrictions. He presented no scripture that justifies his teaching that the individual may take the Lord’s Supper at home outside the assembly of the local church. The Lord set the venue for the Lord’s Supper is a planned assembly of the local church for that purpose. Those Christians who assembled partook together (Acts 20:7; I Cor. 11:18, 20, 33).

Addendum to A Review of Bob Owen’s “Individual Communion” Here are further comments on Bob Owen’s “Individual Communion” talk and on the LORD’S SUPPER. It takes a closer look at the context of I Cor. 11: 17-34.

I’m Ok, You’re Ok! Really? Truthfully – the use of a Principle   “How popular has the so called principle “that anything a person does in violation of his own conscience is sinful” become? Is there not a longstanding history of the misuse of Rom. 14 in the brotherhood? Wouldn’t that of itself cause one to proceed with caution should a new teaching of “Individual Communion” and the LORD’S SUPPER using this Rom. 14 “principle” be spreading through the church? (Cf. I Th. 5:21).”

How a Lesson on Humility Became a “Church Ordinance”  : Jesus did wash His disciples’ feet and the lesson explained in that context is that they must serve one another. However Ellen G. White, a supposed prophetess of the Seventh-day Adventist church, takes it upon herself to teach that the LORD’S SUPPER is to be preceded by a “foot washing” as a church ordinance. This lesson should help one to understand the difference between individual obligations and the “collective” works God gave for the local church as a functioning body or organization.

“I’m Staying with Zoom” The current pride in technology denominational invite is “Worship online or in person here.” We must be certain that what we do with high tech is scriptural as regards the work and worship of Christ’s church. If “zoom” and “online” are let stray, as some among us already have, then you will have a developed human tradition that will cause many to lose their souls. The impact itself on the body of Christ can be like a spreading spiritual virus in years following upon member’s zeal for assembling (Cf. Eph. 4:14; 2 Tim. 2:17; Heb. 10:24-27). You must know the difference between the word “home” and “house” and “houses” and the words “come together as a church” and “assembling of ourselves together” and “in the church.” Read here for proper definitions that lead to proper applications of what it means to ASSEMBLE TOGETHER.

DO BRETHREN KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE WORD “HOME” AND “HOUSE” AND “HOUSES” AND THE WORD “ASSEMBLY” OR “CHURCH”?

INCLUDED IN THE INSTRUCTION (SOUND DOCTRINE) FOR THE PARTAKING OF THE LORD’S SUPPER:

1Co 11:17 Now in giving these instructions I do not praise you, since you come together not for the better but for the worse.

1Co 11:18 For first of all, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you, and in part I believe it.

Application: In I Cor. 11:18 “as a church” is not at home!

1Co 11:22 What! Do you not have houses to eat and drink in? Or do you despise the church of God and shame those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you in this? I do not praise you.

Application: “houses” [G3614 oikia] Thayer Definition: 1) a house; a. prop. an inhabited edifice, a dwelling.

1Co 11:34 But if anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, lest you come together for judgment. And the rest I will set in order when I come.

Application: “home” [G3624 oikos] Thayer definition: 1) a house 1c3) the place where one has fixed his residence, one’s settled abode, domicile.

As regards other instruction concerning the assembly:

1Co 14:35  And if they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is shameful for women to speak in church.

Application: Asking “at home” [G3624] is not asking in the assembly.

One more time:

1Co 11:17 Now in giving these instructions I do not praise you, since you come together not for the better but for the worse.

1Co 11:18 For first of all, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you, and in part I believe it.

Application: “come together” [G4905 sunerchomai] Thayer Definition:

1) to come together, i.e.

1a) to assemble

Application: “as a church” [G1577 ekklēsia] Thayer Definition:

1) a gathering of citizens called out from their homes into some public place, an assembly

1a) an assembly of the people convened at the public place of the council for the purpose of deliberating: Acts 19:39

Application: Well it is plain that when the people get there they aren’t elsewhere --- they’ve convened at the place.

1d) in a Christian sense

1d1) an assembly of Christians gathered for worship:  in the religious meeting: I Cor. 14:19, 35; 34; I Cor. 11:18.

Part of Speech: noun feminine A Related Word by Thayer’s/Strong’s Number: from a compound of [G1537 “ek” 1) out of, from, forth from] and a derivative of [G2564 kaleō] Thayer Definition: 1) to call 1b) to invite.

WE HAVE SOUND DOCTRINE ON ASSEMBLING

Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

Heb 10:24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,

Heb 10:25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

Heb 10:26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,

Heb 10:27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.

Application: “assembling of ourselves together” [G1997 episunagōgē] Thayer Definition:

1) “a gathering together in one place.”

2) the (religious) assembly (of Christians)

Compare: 1Co 11:20 “Therefore when you come together in one place, it is not to eat the Lord's Supper.”

Application: This is not one at his home – another at her home -- others in their home – or a portion of the church in someone’s home and other portions elsewhere.

IF A LOCAL CHURCH ZOOMS A BIBLE CLASS IS IT THE ASSEMBLY? NO!

14:19 “in the church”, 35 “in church”; 34 “in the churches”; I Cor. 11:18 “as a church.”

IS A HUMAN TRADITION BEING DEVELOPED NOW AMONG CHURCHES?

Are brethren being led to believe that an online presentation is “assembling”?

A Case Of Compromise  The primary part of this study concerns Jehoshaphat (the king of Judah) and his compromise with wicked Ahab the king of Israel (the northern kingdom). It compares Ahab's religion with the description of Jehoshaphat who did not let the Levitical service and the Temple deteriorate, but was diligent in having the law of God taught in Judah (2 Ch. 17:6-9). LOT'S choice to stay in wicked Sodom is a secondary point used to show how compromising destroys our warnings offered to others for they see our inconsistencies. This simple lesson shows why people compromise the Truth along with the attendant consequences for doing such.

Things in Christ not found in Islam One simple but effective way of explaining the difference between a major “world” religion and the gospel of Christ (the New Testament, Matt. 26:28) is to show the things found “in Christ” that are not found elsewhere.  The following are things found in Jesus Christ that are not found in Islam. In God's offering His Son we understand God's LOVE.

The Conduct God Expects From Our Members Read this article and it should help you to better understand the "unity of the Spirit" in the bond of peace and LOVE (Eph. 4:1-3; Col. 3:12-14). Understanding these in this context answers such important questions as: Whom can I talk to?, When do I go to another?, Can I speak publicly in rebuking to thus maintain this unity?, What would a refusal to listen indicate? And, What happens to one who does not forgive if one repents?

What You Can And Will Do In Christ  This brief study should offer assuramce to Christians that their efforts to serve God faithfully are attainable, as well as being greatly aided by others' prayers on their behalf. What one can and will do by remaining faithful in Christ is declared through the words of Paul's prayer for the church at Colossae in Col. 1:9-12. Here are the key thoughts: A. Be filled with knowledge, all wisdom and spiritual understanding. B. Walk worthy, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. C. Strengthened for attaining all stedfastness  patience, with Joy. D. Joyously giving thanks to the Father. Following is a "Check Your Spiritual Growth With Self-Test Questions" concerning our LOVE for God, giving further emphasis to our growth and development to maturity. The stated "goal" of  our efforts is seen in Philippians 1:10-11.

The List That Justifies The Ungodly  Using the instruction from Prov. 9:7-9 that says, “Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate you…” this article deals with the ungodly who have no real concern for the whole of God’s commandments and doing all He requires (cf. Ps. 119:160). Such will often “keep records” (lists) of others’ sins that they have repented of. Such wicked “mark” another’s sins in order to use them against them in an unrighteous way! And of course their “list,” so far as they are concerned, is reason enough for them to reject reproofs / rebukes for their own present sins. Study this and realize that the wicked do NOT LOVE the one who rebukes them, neither will they go to the wise for counsel! (Prov. 15:12).

Read what God says about those who hate the one who reproves sin and speaks uprightly; who LOVE the ungodly and hate those who love the Lord; who hate the truth of God’s word that states the sins; who have changed the truth for a lie; who being covetous and not fearing God flatter the arrogant rich and powerful in society; who are companions of those who lapse into falsehood for fear of being persecuted; who hate the good and LOVE the evil. Such make up the list of those God knows (and those who study His word know) who would like to fix things to prevent true Christians from speaking about sins that damn the soul.

Verses are presented that deal with: (1)  the reason for not accepting Christ’s word is you LOVE DARKNESS rather than light …

“All You Really Have To Do Is Believe In God”  Jesus said, “Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven” (Matt. 7:21). See below for proof one does NOT LOVE Christ.

A Review of “Questions of Women’s roles…requires grace, humility” by Cana Moore (Part One) Part One: Here is an article concerning WOMEN’S ROLES in the church. It especially centers on the woman is not to USURP AUTHORITY over a man in I Tim. 2:12. Paul said: 1Ti. 2:11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 1Ti. 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.” I’ve got some things I want to say that I believe apply to some of the contexts in the article; the article should elicit thoughts of your own as well.

You will find key points made concerning the necessity of our KEEPING CHRIST’S COMMANDMENTS and ABIDING IN HIS LOVE by WALKING according the works He prepared for us from eternity before the world began.

Paul said: 1Ti. 2:11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 1Ti. 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. I’ve got some things I want to say that I believe apply to some of the contexts in the article; the article should elicit thoughts of your own as well.

5:19), accept those in HOMOSEXUAL and LESBIAN relationships which are sinful (I Cor. 6;9, Rom.

Do Not Let Your Heart Envy Sinners The purpose of this article is to emphasize the importance of enabling others to develop speech that correctly describes the sinner ---- and especially our children. Applications are made for this important question: If you can’t say the wicked are so what are some likely problem you will have? Often a young woman who has a bad husband will not say so. She wants to be with him. There is the fear of losing marriage status and more. This can be reversed --- consider the man with an evil wife who fails in the same way. We must NOT LOVE FAMILY MORE THAN GOD (cf. Matt. 10:47; Lk. 14:26).

2:17; Heb. 10:24-27). You must know the DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE WORD “HOME” AND “HOUSE” AND “HOUSES” and the words “come together as a church” and “ASSEMBLING OF OURSELVES TOGETHER” and “IN THE CHURCH” - Read here for proper definitions that lead to proper applications of what it means to ASSEMBLE TOGETHER.

IS A HUMAN TRADITION BEING DEVELOPED NOW AMONG CHURCHES?

Are brethren being led to believe that an online presentation is “assembling”?

DO HUMAN TRADITIONS AGAINST THE WORD PLEASE FALSE TEACHERS AND FALSE BRETHREN?

Where do false motive come from? Just how much in such a developed human tradition is there a pleasing of self and others? Enough to leave sound doctrine!

THE KIND OF SPIRIT GOD HAS GIVEN US (2 TIM. 1:7)

2Ti 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and OF LOVE and of a sound mind.

“SPIRIT” [G4151 pneuma] – Thayer 5. “disposition, desire…”

a. NOT OF “FEAR” (timidity, NASB) [G1167 deilia, n.] Thayer: 1) timidity, fearfulness, cowardice. From [G1169 deilos, adj.] > From δέος deos (dread); timid, that is, (by implication) faithless: - fearful > Rev. 21:8 “cowardly” followed by “unbelieving” [G571 apistos] 1) unfaithful, faithless, (not to be trusted, perfidious).

b. “BUT OF POWER” [G1411 dunamis] Thayer: strength, ability, power – from [G1410 dunamai] to be able or possible: - be able, can (do, + -not), could, may, might, be possible, be of power; Rom. 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.”

Notes: “spirit” (mind, mental or desire):  “…not ...of fear” (timidity, cowardice), “but of power” (*seen in believing and doing the Word, 2 Tim. 1:8, 2 Tim. 3:5 denied the power thus weak and unfit; Ja. 1:22 doers of the word);

Some verses where we are told to be able and are able: Jas 1:22 doers of the word; Lk. 6:46-48; Jo. 12:42-43; I Th. 2:2; Eph. 3:16-17; Col. 1:9-12.

c. “OF LOVE AND A SOUND MIND” – “sound” [G4995 sōphronismos] Thayer:

1) an admonishing or calling to soundness of mind, to moderation and self-control.

Application: You can’t separate the sound mind from sound doctrine!

CAN’T SEPARATE THE WORD FROM STRENGTH!

VERSES: Rom. 1:16-17 “the Gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation”; Eph. 6:11 “put on the whole armor of God that you might be able to stand”, 16 “shield of faith” (cf. Rom. 10:17 faith comes by hearing the word), 17 “the sword of the Spirit…the word of God”, 19 “prayer and supplication for all saints.” Christ’s strength would have gotten all of His churches through “lock down” whatever it took: 1) Back Yards 2) Open Spaces 3) Parking Lots etc.

“THE CHURCH IS NOT THE BUILDING!”

Remember way back when we were explaining that the church is not the building – that church buildings are expedients of the command to assemble (Heb. 10:25) and the work of edifying the body (I Cor. 14:26) – there was common way of putting it plainly back then, “You can meet under a tree for that matter!” Let’s hear that again, “You can meet under a tree for that matter! Yes, “You can meet under a tree for that matter! Until it came time to! Let’s hear that again. Until it came time to!

The Majority Know Another Jesus The church at Corinth gladly tolerated fools who taught another Jesus and different gospel, Paul said (cf. 2 Cor. 11:4, 19).  It is possible for one to read the trifling literature of fools and possess a completely false view of Jesus. Read the Gospels for your self and see what He really did do and teach. Here’s a start with applications from the Gospels themselves that show the stark differences between what most think Jesus taught and what He really did teach! Verses are presented that deal with: (4) LOVING THE PRAISE OF MEN more than God will not get one honor from God…

The ungodliness of all such who hate the good and love evil is contrasted with the man who is blessed. The man who is blessed trusts in God, and has not shown respect to the proud, nor to those who lapse into falsehood (cf. Ps. 40:4). This man hates evil, and LOVES the good and establishes justice so that God will be gracious to him (cf. Amos 5:15).

Selected Newspaper Articles from 2016  These four newspaper articles include: (1) Surely Such Beautiful People (In this article “Beautiful people are just everywhere here!” People, and especially our youth, do not understand the vanity that is evil and destructive). (2) Surely Correct Thinking ~ Although It Does Not Begin With the Fear of the Lord (In this article “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge” (Pr. 1:9) – “beginning” meaning the first step in acquiring and then applying God’s revealed word. This is not your own “I think” or “I believe.” Four important applications display what men are willing to do when they lack the fear of the Lord. (3) Surely Not Their Kind of Preacher ~ Hired to Protect the Ungodly (Based upon I Tim. 3:16-17 it is the members themselves who are responsible for maintaining such preachers; these men pleasers are standing in line to take the place of those who preach the truth and are dismissed or cast out for doing so. (4) Surely Displays Great Love for Jesus ~ Cancelling Church for Sunday Dec. 25 (Lk. 2:11 says “For you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.” That’s right, all we have is “this day” --- thus the obvious flaw in saying that anyone today knows the exact day Jesus was born. Since no one knows then how can “cancelling” church figure in at all on “Christmas”? Put this with the command not to forsake assembling and you see that love of the Traditions of men, not God’s Word, is all important and mighty self-serving. Some might even be thinking why not for New Year’s Day too.

The Appreciation Of Godly Sisters In Christ The tremendous value of our sisters in Christ is set forth in this article. Beginning with the honor that is due to faithful women in Christ, the study sets forth the various duties enjoined upon them in regards to their family and service rendered to the church that Christ built. Children and family members must practice piety towards their “own” and requite their parents, Paul said (I Tim. 5:4). Moreover, they are to be ready unto every good work (Eph. 2:10, I Tim. 5:10, Titus 3:1, 2:14). Christians who are ready and yield their bodies unto God as instruments of righteousness in sacrificial service are fulfilling the perfect will of God (cf. Rom.  12:1-2, 6:13). They exemplify those whom God takes pleasure in and favors because they fear Him (cf. Ps. 149:4, 147:10-11). These are the ones who can be taught, and have been (Ps. 34:11-15). Their glory (boast) is in understanding and knowing God who delights in LOVING-KINDNESS, judgment, and righteousness in the earth! (Cf. Jer. 9:23-24). Obedience unto righteousness is what God takes pleasure in, thus these are the scriptural reasons why all of our godly sisters are appreciated. Why not study the nine points of application directed towards their being scripturally appreciated?

The Conduct God Expects From Our Members Read this article and it should help you to better understand the "unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace" (Eph. 4:1-3; Col. 3:12-14). Understanding these in this context answers such important questions as: Whom can I talk to?, When do I go to another?, Can I speak publicly in rebuking to thus maintain this unity?, What would a refusal to listen indicate? And, What happens to one who does not forgive if one repents?

The Foolishness In Forgetting God’s Word Trials should not cause us to forget God’s law! We can receive strength in remembering past trials we persevered in (Cf. Heb. 10:32-34). The one who perseveres does not shrink back! Specifically, when one turns their back upon God they will forget His word,  benefits, past deliverances, that man’s wrath can be over ruled by God’s anger, that God’s victories display his righteous judgments, and one would be forgetting the LOVINGKINDESS of the Lord! Why not read this article and acquaint yourself with what is happening when one forgets God’s law?

Memory #3 of 3  This is the third portion of a brief series on “Memory” (April, May and June 2016). This article’s emphasis is on not using memory to prevent spiritual danger and destruction, letting greed overpower remembering God’s presence in times past, using memory to correct one’s life and the necessity of being reminded to be ready for every good work. Israel’s Complaining / Murmuring towards Moses and Aaron, and thus towards God Himself, that they had been brought out into the wilderness to be killed by thirst and starvation led to the destruction of many (cf. Nu. 11:1 Taberah; 11:33-34 Kibrothhathtaava). Letting “GREED” (LUST) overpower remembering God’s presence in times past resulted in a great plague upon the people (Nu. 11:33-34).

The Correct Delight of Kings “The appreciation of “the delight of kings” of Israel --- kept in proper context under the Old Covenant --- is seen in their fear of God and obedience to His commands given to Israel. The commands for them to LOVE TRUTH AND RIGHTEOUSNESS, and some doing so, stands in contrast to the wickedness of civil government today!”

There is also the importance of our not forgetting even one of God’s benefits of salvation in Christ. Once restored one must not revert back--- thus once again forgetting the necessary obedience for salvation in Christ.

Why I Left The Lutheran Church  Katy Jones wrote this worthwhile and beneficial article explaining how her world was turned up side down upon hearing the pure gospel of Christ. She explains why she left the LUTHERAN CHURCH. We publicize her article with the hopes that it might benefit others who may be coming to the realization that denominationalism is not found in the New Testament. Should you find yourself in a similar situation as she found herself in, then you too can find the truth if you seek for it (John 8:32).  Don't delay your search for the truth!
