The A list:  to help with finding a topic look at the words in BOLD print.

Bible Endings For Torn Relationships  Five important Bible relationships are presented while giving emphasis to the importance of entreaty and reconciliation. The relationships discussed in this article include Cain and ABEL, Esau & Jacob, Saul & David, Paul & Barnabas and Euodia & Syntyche. Stated goals for entreating are: 1. To be of the same mind, Phil. 2:2; 2. To be at peace, I Th. 5:13; 3. To understand the outcome of dissension. It strengthens the enemy of the gospel; the weak when pulled in to dissensions are caused to stumble; 4. To repent and return to the work, Rev. 3:19-20; 5. To use with older men, I Tim. 5:1; 6. To implement with God's wisdom which is easy to be entreated, Ja. 3:17-18. Thus one is to be both approachable and easily persuaded to do that which is right.

“All You Really Have To Do Is Believe In God”  Jesus said, “Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven” (Matt. 7:21). See below for TO ABIDE IN JESUS’ LOVE IS TO ABIDE IN THE FATHER’S LOVE.

Points made concerning both the Father’s will and JESUS are:

  1.   Jesus did the will of the father who sent Him (cf. John 6:37-38).

  2.   Jesus’ words are the Father’s (John 17:14, 17).

  3.   Jesus was seeking the Father’s glory not His own (Jo. 7:17-18).

  4.   Jesus’ authority was the Father’s! (Read John 12:48-50).

  5.   Jesus gave us the Father’s word which is truth (John 17:14, 17).

  6.   One cannot come to Christ except by the will of the Father (Jo. 6:37).

  7.   The Father’s will is that you believe in Jesus His Son (Jo. 6:45).

  8.   The “work of God,” or requirement of God is that one believes in Jesus whom He has sent (John 6:26-29).

  9.   The Father’s will is that eternal life comes through belief in Christ (John 6:40).

10.   Eternal life is gained by knowing His Father and the Son whom He sent (Jo. 17:3).

11.  Jesus is the only way to the Father (Jo. 14:6).

12.  The doing of the Father’s will establishes one’s relationship with Christ (Matt. 12:50).

13.  Those who do believe will not perish (Jo.3:16).

14.  The belief in Christ that saves is a belief that obeys Him, else the wrath of God abides upon one (cf. Matt. 7:21; Jo. 3:36; Heb. 5:9).

15.  The one who doesn’t believe God has given us eternal life in His Son makes God a liar ( I John 5:10-11).

16.  This is all based in the Scriptures (John 5:39; De. 18:18-19).

17.  Jesus didn’t say that they “can’t” believe and obey but they “would not” (John 8:24).

18.  His word which was the Father’s necessitates baptism for initial obedience in order that one might be saved (cf. Matt. 28:18-20 “all” authority for “all” nations; Mk. 16:15-16; Acts

16:31; Acts 22:16 an example of Saul obeying the Son of God).

19.  Christ was “end of the Law” (Rom. 10:4). Both Jew and Gentile are saved the same way by obeying the Gospel (Rom. 1:16, 17, Rom. 3:29-30).

20.  To believe in Christ is to believe in the Father (cf. John 12:44-45). Of course, for that is the Father’s will! (see above)

21.  To reject Christ is to reject the Father’s word (cf. John 12:48-50, 14:24). Read the boldness of Peter and John in the newspaper article above (Acts 4:12-13).

22.  To receive Christ is to receive the Father (cf. John 13:20). Jesus told why some do not receive Him (cf. John 5:43-44).

23.  If you don’t love Christ you don’t keep the Father’s words (cf. John 14:24).

24.  If you keep the Father’s will you will keep Christ’s commandments (cf. John 14:15, 24, 12:49).

25.  To abide in Jesus’ love is to abide in the Father’s love (cf. John 14:21, 15:9-10; I John 4:16).

26.  To be in Christ is to be in the Father (cf. I John 4:15-16).

27.  Knowing the Son is knowing the Father (cf. John 14:7-10, 1:18, 10:15; Matt. 11:27 Plain!).

28.  If you deny the Son you do not have the Father (cf. I John 2:23). You’ve called God a liar! (I John 5:10). You will die in your sins (John 8:24). Those who deny the Son are in the power of Satan (I John 5:19-20).

29.  Whoever confesses the Son has the Father (cf. I John 2:23).

30.  Does the Father’s will really say all that one must do is believe in God in a very general way? No! This becomes, when we understand the expression “the will of My Father,” the very lesson people need who say Jesus is Lord and then profess there are other religions that lead to the Father that don’t believe Jesus is Lord (cp. Lk. 6:46). And again, notice in our study what knowing and doing “the will of My Father” does to the statement often heard, i.e. all you have to do is believe in God.

Abominations are not Funny! (A serious look at Worship offered to God.): Have you seen these frivolous church advertisements that mention "hypocrites" with somewhat of an amusing tone? They will even state that they only have a few so feel free to come and worship with them. In contrast the Bible teaches the worship a hypocrite offers is an ABOMINATION to God. But such hypocrites actually think, "God is glad to see me here!" And have you ever thought of how "others" such as the preacher and members themselves might contribute to this polluting of worship? Also, what condition is a church in that tolerates even one hypocrite as a member?

The Real Sin In Sodom  This article is a reply to a respondent who was delighted with the error that was presented in News Week’s Dec. 15ths feature article “Gay Marriage: Our Mutual Joy.” I wasn’t delighted and had something to say scripturally concerning those who justify the wicked as being an ABOMINATION to the Lord (cf. Prov. 17:15).  The following presented ensued as he replied to what I had said. And I in turn to what he said. There is a great of deal scriptural information here concerning what Jesus and inspired writers said about the sin of homosexuality. There are descriptions of Sodom both from the Old and New Testaments.

About the Label “Advertisement” On Our Articles   I’m often asked why there is a label of “advertisement” at the bottom of the church’s articles. They’ll often say, “No one else’s does, why yours?” The newspaper places it there. Consider this: While the designation is accurate, for our articles tell people about the church of Christ, it is obvious that the content is what we are seeking to get forward (Cf. 1 Tim. 3:15). There should be a distinct difference in what a church of Christ presents to the community, and that of the various false religions. And there is if the church is doing its work as it should. By refusing the often sought “marketing approach” the Truth becomes apparent. It is the Truth that is important in contrast to sin and religious error. Included is an exposure of the oft used “Try Us And You’ll Like Us” pitch. … People are undeniably being led to believe that all they need to do is show up for a service they’re sure to like — then they can go right back to their worldly life styles!

Church is like a club for them, but the club is like this: “How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and not honour that cometh from God only?” (Jo. 5:44). Such can forsake assembling, show up occasion when convenient for them and still receive praise from the members and leaders: “Oh, it is so good to see you again.” They give them the false praise so they’ll be praised in return: “Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false Prophets” (Lk. 6:26). They desire the things highly esteemed among men that are an ABOMINATION to God (Lk. 16:15).

Selected Newspaper Articles   These are selected articles that appeared in our local newspaper, The Sun. The intent of these articles is that each shows a love for and desire to present the Truth without incorporating the emotional flavor so popular with other religious bodies today. Included is “King Solomon And Child Murder” with a modern-day application to ABORTION.

Selected Newspaper Articles on Political Correctness You might enjoy reading these newspaper articles as they are grouped together: “Politics Does Not Make Evil to be Good,” “What Presidents Do When They Promote ABORTION And Gay Marriage,” “When the Governing Powers Refuse to Listen” and “Women Bishops And Gay Marriage Are Both Sinful.”

Selected Newspaper Articles from 2017 These four newspaper articles include: (1) Surely All the Men’s Fault ~ So Called “Forced Heterosexuality”; (2) Surely Empowerment and Courage ~ ABORTION; (3) Surely the Ends of the World ~ But Don’t Quit Your Job!; (4) Surely Not the Time for Two Drinking Parties ~ Christmas & New Years.

Infanticide ~ #2 Cultural, Political and Moral Aspects  Here is a brief look at cultural, political and moral aspects of INFANTICIDE and ABORTION. Using Will Durant’s “Caesar and Christ” the depths to which a society is capable of sinking in pagan immoralities is seen in ancient Carthage and Rome. Our nation has similar connections of abortion and infanticide with sexual immoralities, adultery, prostitution and the deterioration of marriage and the family structure. “Limiting” by abortion and infanticide are products of our own godless society! In addition there is an attached applicable newspaper article: “The Pharaoh Party ~ The Party of Death (Infanticide).”

What You Can And Will Do In Christ This brief study should offer assurance to Christians that their efforts to serve God faithfully are attainable, as well as being greatly aided by others' prayers on their behalf. What one can and will do by remaining faithful in Christ is declared through the words of Paul's prayer for the church at Colossae in Col. 1:9-12. Here are the key thoughts: A. Be filled with knowledge, all wisdom and spiritual understanding. B. Walk worthy, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. The fruitfulness of the virtues that are in us and ABOUND are paralleled from Peter's list, 2 Peter 5:1-11. C. Strengthened for attaining all steadfastness and patience, with Joy. D. Joyously giving thanks to the Father. Following is a "Check Your Spiritual Growth With Self-Test Questions" giving further emphasis to our growth and development into mature children of God. The stated "goal" of  our efforts is seen in Philippians 1:10-11.

The Quran On Jesus (Series)  This series presents the basic teaching about Jesus --- the blessing of ABRAHAM comes on both the Jews and Gentiles through Christ Jesus. Those baptized into Christ are ABRAHAM’S SEED. You will often hear that Islam honors all prophets, including Jesus. Just what “kind” of honor does Islam give to the Lord Jesus Christ? It is certainly not that they believe in His deity because they do not. The truth is Islam repeatedly denies that Jesus is God. Islam also denies the basic tenants of the New Testament teaching about Jesus and salvation. How do you supposedly honor Him when the honor you give to Him is the dishonor of saying He was not who He said He was? Why not follow this series and see the many truths that Islam denies about Jesus that the New Testament teaches and Christians believe?

Loving Israel for the Wrong Reasons  The history of Israel goes back to God’s promise of Christ through ABRAHAM’S SEED (Gen 12:1-3). It was through Christ, Abraham’s seed, that all nations (all men everywhere) would have the offer of eternal salvation (Rom 1:16-17; Gal 3:26-29). Read this and you will see the fulfillment and understand that the New Testament is God’s will for all of mankind today. Here is a contrast of Israel under the Old Testament for a definite period which has passed, and salvation for all men through the gospel of Christ as revealed in the New Testament.  When you study the salvation of Jews or Gentiles (including Arabs) the New Testament points to their baptisms into Christ for the remission of their sins (Mk 16:15-16; Gal 3:26-29). Read this article and you will see the difference between contending for political and national interests, and contending for salvation offered through Christ for all men.

1. The name Israel applied to the nation that developed in Egypt.

2. That nation, Israel, was given the Old Covenant law for a definite period, which has ended, with a view to Christ being the end of the law (see Rom 10:4 “end”) --- the Old Covenant kept them together and brought them to Christ. The New Covenant is for all men today, both Jews and Gentiles.

3. Blindness of the Jews is seen in those who reject Christ and the New Testament.

4. ANY TRUE CHRISTIAN DESIRES THE SALVATION OF ALL MEN REGARDLESS OF RACE OR NATIONALITY.

5. The offer of salvation through the gospel of Christ is not antisemitic – both Jews and Gentiles are equal in Christ’s church.

6. The offer of salvation through the gospel of Christ does not favor Arabs or Gentiles over others – all are equal in Christ’s church.

7. WHEN YOU STUDY THE JEWS’ SALVATION > THE NEW TESTAMENT POINTS TO THEIR BAPTISMS.

8. WHEN YOU STUDY THE JEWS’ LEVITICAL PRIESTHOOD UNDER THE OLD TESTAMENT > THE NEW TESTAMENT TEACHES THE PRIESTHOOD CHANGED FOR THE JEWS TO CHRIST AS THE ETERNAL HIGH PRIEST.

9. WHEN YOU STUDY THE JEWS’ O.T. LAW > THE NEW TESTAMENT TEACHES IT WAS TAKEN OUT OF THE WAY HAVING BEEN NAILED TO THE CROSS.

10. WHEN YOU STUDY OLD COVENANT WORSHIP FOR JEWS > THE NEW TESTAMENT TEACHES IT “VANISHED,” AND THEY COULD BE GOD’S PEOPLE UNDER THE NEW COVENANT (JER. 31:31-34).

11. WHEN YOU STUDY THE JEWS’ TEMPLE IN JERUSALEM > THE NEW TESTAMENT TEACHES ITS DESTRUCTION BY GOD WHICH CAME IN AD 70.

12. WHEN YOU STUDY THE JEWS AS A NATION > THE NEW TESTAMENT CONFIRMS THEY ABUSED THE BLESSING OF BEING CHOSEN BY GOD – THEY LOVED THE IDOLS AND FALSE GODS OF THE NATIONS, BEING A STIFF-NECKED REBELLIOUS PEOPLE (CF. STEPHEN’S SPEECH TO FELLOW JEWS, ACTS 7; READ DE 9:6-7, 24).

13. WHEN YOU STUDY THE JEWS’ HUMAN TRADITIONS AS A NATION > THE NEW TESTAMENT TEACHES THEIR HUMAN TRADITIONS WERE “VAIN WORSHIP” (CF. MATT 15:3-9; MAR 7:5-9).

14. THAT GOD CHOSE ISRAEL THROUGH WHOM CHRIST CAME ACCORDING TO THE FLESH, AND THEN MOST JEWS REJECTED JESUS CHRIST WAS A GRIEF TO PAUL, HIMSELF A JEW.

15. PARTIAL BLINDNESS OF ISRAEL IS SEEN IN THEIR REJECTING THE NEW COVENANT, AND BECOMING ENEMIES OF THE TRUTH OF THE GOSPEL (ROM 11:25-32). PAUL (A JEW HIMSELF) IS TRUTHFUL AND IMPARTIAL IN STATING THIS. BUT THERE IS ALSO A REMINDER TO THE GENTILE CHRISTIANS THAT THEY MUST REMEMBER THEY WERE ONCE DISOBEDIENT TO GOD, AND SO THE HOPE REMAINS THAT MORE AMONG THE JEWS WILL BE CONVERTED TO CHRIST THROUGH THE GOSPEL, I.E., THE NEW COVENANT. IT IS THE NEW COVENANT THAT IS GIVEN TO BOTH JEWS AND GENTILES THAT IS SPOKEN OF HERE.

16. PAUL QUOTED ISAIAH’S TRUTHFUL AND HONEST STATEMENT TO FELLOW JEWS WHO IN UNBELIEF REJECTED THE PREACHING OF THE GOSPEL (ACTS 28:17-31).

17. JESUS WILL APPEAR “A SECOND TIME” TO AWARD SALVATION ON THE DAY OF JUDGMENT.

18. EVERY PERSON OF EVERY RACE INDIVIDUALLY WILL STAND BEFORE CHRIST ON THAT DAY.

19. CHRISTIANS ARE NOT TO BE IGNORANT ABOUT THAT DAY!

20. STUDY INTERNATIONAL POLITICS AND YOU ARE NOT STUDYING SALVATION IN CHRIST!

21. HE COMES IN THAT DAY TO BE GLORIFIED IN HIS SAINTS.

22. THE DAY OF THE LORD WILL COME AS A THIEF IN THE NIGHT.

23. WHEN CHRIST JUDGES “ALL” ON THAT DAY ANYONE NOT FOUND IN THE BOOK OF LIFE IS CAST INTO HELL.

24. WHO DO CHRISTIANS THANK GOD FOR WHO GIVES US THE VICTORY? GOD WHO GIVES US CHRIST.

25. STUDY THE NEW TESTAMENT AND THE ISRAEL OF GOD IN GAL 6:16 IS THE CHURCH OF CHRIST.

26. THE RECOGNIZED “JEW” RELIGIOUSLY BY GOD IS NOT IN PHYSICAL OUTWARD APPEARANCE, OR BY PHYSICAL CIRCUMCISION, BUT INWARDLY HAVING OBEYED THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST -- WHOSE PRAISE IS NOT FROM MAN BUT GOD.

Selected Newspaper Articles for 2013 These newspaper articles from 2013 include: (1) “Using ‘Christendom’ to Cover Religious Error”; (2) “The Ways of the Street Mugger”; (3) “Murders, Murderers, Victims”; (4) “Surely not a Hot Head” and (5) “Surely not a Greedy Person.” – Points on ABUNDANCE, Possessions, Treasure and one’s Heart.

The Appreciation Of Godly Sisters In Christ The tremendous value of our sisters in Christ is set forth in this article. Beginning with the honor that is due to faithful women in Christ, the study sets forth the various duties enjoined upon them in regards to their family and service rendered to the church that Christ built. Children and family members must practice piety towards their “own” and requite their parents, Paul said (I Tim. 5:4). This is good and ACCEPTABLE in the sight of God. Moreover, they are to be ready unto every good work (Eph. 2:10, I Tim. 5:10, Titus 3:1, 2:14). Why not study the nine points of application directed towards their being scripturally appreciated?

Hating Homosexuality This article from 1999 relates to the meeting between Jerry Falwell and the so-called gay Christians. The press presented them as "gay Christians" meaning that they were practicing homosexuals and lesbians. The purpose of that meeting was to reduce violence and hatred toward homosexuals. The purpose of that meeting was to reduce violence and hatred toward homosexuals. When the press presents practicing homosexual and lesbians as Christians who present themselves in good standing with God, then the contradictions from a religious point of view must be exposed! And that's what the article does. It shows clearly how "practicing" homosexuals and lesbians are not to be accepted or fellowshipped in the church. Many young people are taking ACCEPTANCE, TOLERANCE and DIVERSITY INSTRUCTION to mean that there is nothing wrong "morally" with being gay. You will hear them say, "What’s wrong with being gay?" Such I believe is the aim of the homosexual activists. Tell your children that being taught "tolerance" does not make sinful acts right. It changes nothing! Such instruction in school should never leave the impression that one should not, cannot or does not have the right to hold the conviction that homosexuality is perversion.

Selected Newspaper Articles   These are selected articles that appeared in our local newspaper, The Sun. The intent of these articles is that each shows a love for and desire to present the Truth without incorporating the emotional flavor so popular with other religious bodies today. Included in these short articles is “War Protesters.” This article is about the great spiritual warfare that is being waged against Satan today. Those on Satan’s side protest with “Peace, peace, when there is no peace” (cf. Ezek. 13:10). For such war protesters the only evil is another’s INTOLERANCE! These protesters brag on themselves, with their fleshly wisdom, while speaking against those who are striving to please God and not man (cf. Jo. 5:44; 12:43). They are cowards who fear man and not God! They compromise with Satan being driven by their own lusts to gain wealth, status, power and ACCEPTANCE with man, not God (cf. Ja. 3:14). Their carnal wisdom tells them their silence in speaking for the truth will render them the approval they seek from men. Moreover, they love to hear one another speak! (cf. I Tim. 4:1-4).

The Majority Know Another Jesus The church at Corinth gladly tolerated fools who taught another Jesus and different gospel, Paul said (cf. 2 Cor. 11:4, 19).  It is possible for one to read the trifling literature of fools and possess a completely false view of Jesus. Read the Gospels for yourself and see what He really did do and teach. Here’s a start with applications from the Gospels themselves that show the stark differences between what most think Jesus taught and what He really did teach! Verses are presented that deal with: (1) The reason for NOT ACCEPTING CHRIST’S WORD is you love darkness rather than light

Selected Newspaper Articles Dear reader the following titles are selected newspaper articles that appeared in our local newspaper the Yuma Sun. Advertising for many churches tends to follow the current trend for advertising in general and has an emotional “pitch” to possibly interest the reader. The intent of these articles is that each shows a love for and desire to present the Truth without incorporating the emotional flavor so popular with other religious bodies today. There is nothing comparable to the truth of God’s words with its wisdom. The topics are: “The Buyer Is Like The Seller; The Creditor Is Like The Debtor” (What God’s word says about liars, cheats and murderers applies to all – the rich and poor!); “Wicked Kids, Teens, Beating & Stomping Others” (This exposes the lie, “Oh they’re just too young to know better!”); “Some Wrights Are So Wrong” (When so called “Pastors” are asked if John 14:6 is true and if they think Islam is another way to salvation, and then suggest that there is another path to the Father they deny what Jesus and the apostles taught! (cf. John 12:48). That different cultures see differently thus this truth (John 14:6) must of necessity be set aside is a lie! (cf. Gal. 3:26-29). Jesus is the object of faith that allows all ACCESS to the Father!

A Review of “Questions of Women’s roles…requires grace, humility” by Cana Moore (Part One) Part One: Here is an article concerning WOMEN’S ROLES in the church. It especially centers on the woman is not to USURP AUTHORITY over a man in I Tim. 2:12. Paul said: 1Ti. 2:11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 1Ti. 2:12  But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. I’ve got some things I want to say that I believe apply to some of the contexts in the article; the article should elicit thoughts of your own as well. You will also find information on MAN’S HEADSHIP in reading about ADAM’S ACCOUNTABILITY along with Eve’s, his wife, in the Garden.

Let Us Get You A New Kind Of Preacher! Those full of carnality (works of the flesh) ACCUSE the faithful unjustly with wicked intent, spread strife with their mouths, and set an example of evil for others to imitate (cf. 3 John 10-11). They have a goal, an objective, and will sacrifice the truth and brethren to achieve it! These are looking forward to and working towards division in order that they might have their own way, and that with the “kind of preaching” that lacks application and pleases the ungodly (cf. 2 Tim. 4:1-5). Understand that the longer the church postpones dealing with them scripturally the closer they get to their unscriptural goals (cf. Rev. 2:20). There is nothing more carnal, and full of the works of the flesh, that I can think of at this age in my life than brethren who work to stop applicable preaching and teaching. They will stop at nothing to get the “new kind” of preacher. Old warnings need to be issued! As in the past there will always be bigger churches somewhere ready to aid the pattern of apostasy and provide the “new kind” of teachers and preachers. That is how apostasy is able to continue. Brethren beware! It is quite possible that you know of such things happening among us.

Be Successful Where You Are Too often, I’m afraid, small churches are lacking in the duty of “liberality” or giving (I Cor. 16:1-3). The article encourages local churches to be successful in such. There is indeed an ACCOUNT for churches, as churches, so far as God is concerned (Phil. 4:17).  Question: How is your liberality doing concerning the local church you are a member of? Why not take time to read some of the important reminders for us to be good at imparting? You will notice that we are to be taught to be good at imparting.

From Youth through the Prime of Life (Eccl. 11:9-12:1) There are degrees of progression of age in this text. Accountability is seen throughout and the “right” things done are contrasted with things sinful that must be removed. These portions of life merge together and are fleeting, thus the necessity of remembering one’s Creator in the days of youth.

God Turns The Way Of The Wicked Upside Down This lesson considers the path of the wicked that is a familiar topic throughout the Psalms. You will learn about the wicked by the following: (1) God thwarts the way of the wicked (Ps. 146:9); (2) God puts the wicked in great fear (Ps. 53); (3) ACCUSERS are filled with their own ways (Ps. 109). This section tells you exactly what will happen to the wicked; (4) You will learn about the purpose of their traps they set for the righteous; (5) God overthrows the best of secret counsel (Ps. 64).

A Study of Sin Confessed  (This article addresses the responsibility that Christians have to confess the sins they commit in order that they might be forgiven. It explores various reasons and motives that lay behind one's willingness to confess their wrongdoing.  ACHAN in Johshua 7 illustrates how as a result of investigation one is brought to confess the sins he committed.)

A Study of Sin Confessed  (This article addresses the responsibility that Christians have to confess the sins they commit in order that they might be forgiven. Various definitions of confession are presented to show that it means to "ACKNOWLEDGE" or "agree fully.")

Just Good Advice Versus The Gospel That Saves The world’s remedy is offered by the world but God’s remedy for sinful situations in the lives of His creation is found in the Gospel of Christ. Concerned reader, God’s remedy begins by identifying the sin and stating the penalty. In this article you will see the vast difference between just offering another ADVICE and telling them the truth about God’s remedies that deal with the soul, the need of instruction from His word, the penalty for having sinned, and what is necessary for one to receive the remission of their sins.

After Baptism, Then What?  (A major point in this article concerns the friends and ACQUAINTANCES of new Christians who are not yet members of Christ's church. The new Christian is to deal with them scripturally rather than emotionally. The material offers appropriate encouragement and warnings for those recently baptized for the remission of their sins.)

Unwise Unsuspiciousness (Jer. 40:14) This is based upon Gedaliah’s mistake as recorded by Jeremiah. We see stupidity in the pattern presented by refusing to credit information given by “all”; being indignant towards the informant and accusing him of lying (Lies). “You liar!” You will often hear that when the evidence points to something one doesn’t want to believe. He should have listened. You see some great ACTING in this lesson in order to deceive.

Reply to a response on "Questions on Witchcraft" (A respondent to "Questions on Witchcraft" has present the idea that there was race upon earth who did not have ADAM and Eve for their genealogy. She claims to be of this so called "other people." The reply shows how her claim doesn't fit with the scriptures in the Bible.)

A Review of “Questions of Women’s roles…requires grace, humility” by Cana Moore (Part One) Part One: Here is an article concerning WOMEN’S ROLES in the church. Here’s a start with applications from the Gospels themselves that show the stark differences between what most think Jesus taught and what He really did teach! Verses are presented that deal with: ( 11) bad conduct comes from the heart, thus only flatterers and those who stand to gain for themselves blame alcohol, drugs and “ADDICTIONS” for one’s bad conduct

Light Beer Is Not So Light! Perhaps you've wondered what the alcohol content is in light beer. In this brief article you will find an answer to that important question. Dear reader do not believe everything that you hear concerning light beer. And especially comments to this effect, "What's the big deal after all it is only light beer?" Why not read this article and give careful consideration to the scriptural warnings about the deceitfulness of alcohol, and its attendant state of drunkenness and ADDICTION?

Be Sure to Keep Christ at New Years! Professions of love for the “baby” Jesus at Christmas time are often nothing more than hypocrisy. Such are often followed within a very short period of time with drinking and revelry at New Years. Here is a description of ADDICTION and what the drunkard brings upon himself.

1 Tim. 3:15).      Aids & Additions (Expediencies Reviewed)  Most churches never speak out on the necessity of having “scriptural authority” for what one believes and practices. In fact, most are not willing to deal with the subject because of the lack of authority for things they are doing. It is important to know the difference between “AIDS” (expediencies) used to carry out what is authorized versus “ADDITIONS” which are things not authorized. This lesson should help with that distinction.

A Simple Biblical Pattern For Explaining “Why?”  A respondent who questioned the matter of judging those who live together without marriage stated, “I think these days it can be a good thing to live together before getting married....  This obviously goes against your feelings, but they're just your feelings, not everyone's." Last of all she stated, "As far as your last sentence, it's not an idea that it's acceptable and normal, these days, IT IS acceptable and normal.... If you don't like it, then don't do it.... I wouldn't criticize you...why do you judge about people who choose to live together?"
This individual wants to know “Why” I would determine that people who choose to live together are wrong in doing so? I presumed this to be an honest question deserving of an answer.

In part, one must understand that following a desire to know God's will as one reads the Bible they must learn to make the proper applications. Proper applications necessitate distinguishing between what is "right" and what is "wrong."  Paul said concerning God’s word, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: [17] That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works” (2 Tim. 3:16-17). This article presents the profit of God’s word as seen in doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness that one might be perfect (ADEQUATE), thus equipped for every good work. “Instruction” in the Word plainly states that fornication as described above is a work of the flesh that leads to eternal destruction if  not repented of (I Cor. 6:9; Gal. 5:19-21).

The Conduct God Expects From Our Members Read this article and it should help you to better understand the "unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace" (Eph. 4:1-3; Col. 3:12-14). These 7 Virtues are discussed as being necessary for each member of the local church: Lowliness (Humility), Meekness (Gentleness), Longsuffering (Patience), Forebearing (Showing Tolerance), Tender Mercies (Heart of Compassion), Kindness and Forgiving one another.  Understanding these in this context answers such important questions as: Who can I (ADMONISH) talk to? When do I go to another?, Can I speak publicly in rebuking to thus maintain this unity?, What would a refusal to listen indicate? And, What happens to one who does not forgive if one repents?

What does the New Testament teach on divorce? Anytime that one desires to study the matter of scriptural divorce they should consider the applicable passages from the New Testament. Jesus taught, "But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit ADULTERY: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth ADULTERY" (Matt. 5:32). Hear Jesus again, "And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth ADULTERY: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit ADULTERY" (Matthew 19:9).  An innocent mate has the right to divorce his or her mate for the cause of their mate's ADULTERY and remarry. He also taught that whoever marries one who is put away commits ADULTERY. My advice to anyone is that they read these verses first, and do so without getting into philosophical discussions that do not take these scriptures to heart. God's word is truth (John 8:32; 17:17). I've listed them here for that very purpose, so why not just take time to read them and read them from your Bible as well? I caution ~ avoid emotional arguments based upon "I feel like it should be this way," or "I think in my heart that such and such will be allowed or overlooked by God" (Pr. 14:12; Lk. 6:46).

Casting Down Eloquence & Sophistry Series (2 Cor. 10:4-5) While professing love and understanding false teachers make a mockery of Christ’s teaching in “how” they use Matt. 22:39 – they twist “love thy neighbor as thyself.” They fail to put it properly with the preceding first and greatest commandment – to LOVE GOD WITH ONE’S “ALL” (cf. Matt. 22:37-38). This love (agapao) is found in both the Old and New Testaments (cp. Rom. 13:8-10). It carries with it the idea of duty and obedience to God. If you love God you will keep His commandments (cf. Jo. 14:15, 21, 23; I Jo. 5:6). To “not” love God is to “not” keep His commands, Jesus said (Jo. 14:24).

Love does no wrong to one’s neighbor! (Rom. 13:10). This love does not rejoice in unrighteousness but in the truth (I Cor. 13:6). All unrighteousness is sin, John said (I Jo. 5:17). “Everyone” who practices sin transgresses God’s law, for sin is a transgression of God’s law (I Jo. 3:4). Great deceivers are using “love your neighbor” to put their own stamps of approval on iniquity! They teach the local church is to accept and fellowship heterosexual couples living together in fornication (sin, Gal. 5:19), those in homosexual and lesbian relationships (sin, I Cor. 6:9, Rom. 1:26-27), condone and fellowship ADULTEROUS marriages (Matt. 19:9), etc. These deceivers are guilty of rejoicing in iniquity, not loving God and being religiously injurious to all in their wicked deceptions! Their churches are full of iniquity and their members love to have it so (2 Tim. 3:1-5, 4:3).

So Somebody Told You a Christian Cannot Sin This larger article begins with two brief newspaper articles that illustrates the habit some develop of picking a favorite verse, or verses, without considering “all” that the New Testament teaches on a particular topic. Thus we have an example of “the favorite verses syndrome.” This happens to concern the matter of Christians and when they do sin. It includes important points and topics such as “God Knows,” “Why Confess?,” “Our ADVOCATE is Jesus Christ,” “The Wholeness of the Doctrine of Christ,” “God Gave Us His Word so We Can Practice Righteousness” and “When Considering the Devil and Christians.” Understand that John is emphasizing our “practicing righteousness” as our “walk” or manner of life (I Jo. 1:6, I Jo. 3:7). We are to walk in the light and not in darkness.

Things Often Missing During Afflictions The applications in this brief study will deal with those who are in AFFLICTION. Dear reader, you will notice that with some of these God has no pleasure. For others, they see God’s faithfulness during their AFFLICTIONS. Why not read this either for yourself or with a view to being able to help another?

The Way of Integrity Psalms 119 This Psalm is often avoided because of its length. This study begins with eight points on integrity with God. Follow these application is made from each of the remaining sections. Understand that it is on the grounds of your integrity that you may plead to God for protective care against the wicked (Ps. 119:121-128). The author is a companion of all who fear God, because he considered his ways and turned his feet! So did the Prodigal Son when he was reduced to misery (Lk. 15:17-18). In this Psalm we see that AFFLICTION is part of God “making” one to understand His precepts and keep them! These are but a few of the good lesson presented through studying this Psalm. Why not read the article and while doing so read it along with your Bible?

The Way of Integrity Psalms 119 This Psalm is often avoided because of its length. This study begins with eight points on integrity with God. Follow these application is made from each of the remaining sections. Understand that it is on the grounds of your integrity that you may plead to God for protective care against the wicked (Ps. 119:121-128). Because he did not want to wander from God the scriptures would be his counselors (lit., the men of his counsel) to establish his ways. It is God’s word alone that can make you wise, even wiser than your enemies, teachers, and the AGED! These are but a few of the good lesson presented through studying this Psalm. Why not read the article and while doing so read it along with your Bible?

A Case Of Compromise The primary part of this study concerns Jehoshaphat (the king of Judah) and his compromise with wicked AHAB the king of Israel (the northern kingdom). It compares AHAB'S RELIGION with the description of Jehoshaphat who did not let the Levitical service and the Temple deteriorate, but was diligent in having the law of God taught in Judah (2 Ch. 17:6-9). There are eleven questions on compromise for one to consider as they read 2 Ch. 18-19. This simple lesson shows why people compromise the Truth along with the attendant consequences for doing such.

The List That Justifies The Ungodly  Using the instruction from Prov. 9:7-9 that says, “Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate youthis article deals with the ungodly who have no real concern for the whole of God’s commandments and doing all He requires (cf. Ps. 119:160). A major point on reproofs combines the above passage with the Lord’s warning, “Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you” (Matt. 7:6). These dogs and swine have no regard or use for instruction from God’s word, which is holy. Moreover, their mistreatment of one who gives instruction from His word can be severe! Wicked AHAB is an example of hating the one who rebukes you. AHAB’S hatred and pride blinded his eyes to the truth about what was going to happen to him!

Be Successful Where You Are Too often, I’m afraid, small churches are lacking in the duty of “Liberaliity” or giving  (I Cor. 16:1-3). The article encourages local churches to be successful in such.  Question: How is your liberality doing concerning the local church you are a member of? Why not take time to read some of the important reminders for us to be good at imparting? You will notice that we are to be taught to be good at imparting. Moreover, all AID rendered to others is with a view to the time we will enter eternal life.

It’s Not A Church! Once accepted one human organization spawns others. A kinship develops through acceptance, and the influence of even one “type” of human society can weigh strongly in others’ desire for yet another. The common defense of the human society amongst us is “It’s not a church” --- thus the arguments that the school, the camp and the benevolent society engaged in works God gave the local church are to be accepted. By defining the human society by what it is “not” by no means scripturally justifies it. This article presents this common defense with current application. The article contains a mention of the AKIN FOUNDATION for application. NOTE: You will also find a series of articles answering arguments made for the existence of FLORIDA COLLEGE on our Home Page. Simply access “Florida College” or click here  .

Sects, and Sects Among Us  Here is an outline / notes, etc., on the sects of the Pharisees and Sadducees, as well as application to sects among us today. When speaking of the church Jesus said “I will build My church” (Matt 16:18). It is His church: 1Co 3:10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.; 1Co 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.; Eph 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; …the sect of the Pharisees added “more” to God’s word than was written in the Old Testament – today sects add “more” than revealed in the New Testament concerning the church of Christ.

The article contains information on the Sects, Pharisees, Sadducees, Scribes, Lawyers, Jewish Council or Sanhedrin, the Herodians, Human Tradition handed down and bound thus making void the law of God, Heresy is defined, Paul gave up the sect of the Pharisees to be a Christian, problems sects caused to the church in the first century and how they were dealt with, how some think they can Counsel God, Traditions Handed Down today Have a Beginning, Sects Among Us Associated with Human Tradition are Florida College and the Guardian of Truth Foundation, the Arlington Meeting (1968) between some chosen “Institutionals and Non-Institutions” is exposed --- some of both sides being intent on justifying the Human Societies of their own choosing, how the AKIN FUND AMONG NON-INSTITUTIONALS is used against them at the Arlington Meeting, Emphasis being: “To keep the church as God gave it the society that intrudes into the works He gave the churches must go! All necessary correction (restoration) must be made back to the New Testament scriptural pattern for Christ’s church.”

Light Beer Is Not So Light! Perhaps you've wondered what the ALCOHOL CONTENT is in light beer. In this brief article you will find an answer to that important question. Dear reader do not believe every thing that you hear concerning light beer.

(ALCOHOL) Professions of love for the “baby” Jesus at Christmas time are often nothing more than hypocrisy. Such are often followed within a very short period of time with DRINKING and revelry at New Years. Here is a description of what the drunkard brings upon himself.

The Majority Know Another Jesus The church at Corinth gladly tolerated fools who taught another Jesus and different gospel, Paul said (cf. 2 Cor. 11:4, 19).  It is possible for one to read the trifling literature of fools and possess a completely false view of Jesus. Read the Gospels for your self and see what He really did do and teach. Here’s a start with applications from the Gospels themselves that show the stark differences between what most think Jesus taught and what He really did teach! Verses are presented that deal with: ( 11) bad conduct comes from the heart, thus only flatterers and those who stand to gain for themselves blame ALCOHOL, DRUGS and “ADDICTIONSfor one’s bad conduct.

Aliens and National Ignorance: The concerns of SPACE ALIENS AND EXTRATERRESTRIAL ACTIVITY in recent balloon intercepts, present a totally wrong perspective of the earth, life here, and mankind having been given the earth as a dwelling place (Gen. 1:26; Ps. 115:16). There are no space aliens!

The Conduct God Expects From Our Members Read this article and it should help you to better understand the "unity of the Spirit" in the bond of peace" (Eph. 4:1-3; Col. 3:12-14).  Love is stated said to be the "bond of perfectness" or "the perfect bond of unity." These 7 Virtues are discussed as being necessary for each member of the local church: Lowliness (Humility), Meekness (Gentleness), Longsuffering (Patience), Forebearing (Showing Tolerance), Tender Mercies (Heart of Compassion), Kindness and Forgiving one another. Moreover to walk worthy each Christian is to possess ALL of these (Eph. 4:2; Col. 3:14).  Understanding these in this context answers such important questions as: Whom can I talk to? When do I go to another? Can I speak publicly in rebuking to thus maintain this unity? What would a refusal to listen indicate? and, What happens to one who does not forgive if one repents?

What You Can And Will Do In Christ This brief study should offer assuramce to Christians that their efforts to serve God faithfully are attainable, as well as being greatly aided by others' prayers on their behalf. C. Strengthened for attaining ALL steadfastness and patience, with Joy. The emphasis is on the "whole, "ALL," "fully," "every." D. Joyously giving thanks to the Father. Following is a "Check Your Spiritual Growth With Self-Test Questions" giving further emphasis to our growth and development into mature children of God. The stated "goal" of our efforts is seen in Philippians 1:10-11.

This individual wants to know “Why” I would determine that people who choose to live together are wrong in doing so. I presumed this to be an honest question deserving of an answer. In part, one must understand that Christians believe that Jesus fulfilled His promise to guide the Apostles into ALL TRUTH in the first century (John 14:26, 15:26,  16:13-15, Jude3; 2 Tim. 3:16-17). The truth in Christ’s Word plainly states that fornication as described above is a work of the flesh that leads to eternal destruction if  not repented of (I Cor. 6:9; Gal. 5:19-21).

In part, one must understand that following a desire to know God's will as one reads the Bible they must learn to make the proper applications. Proper applications necessitate distinguishing between what is “right” and what is “wrong.” Paul said concerning God’s word, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: [17] That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto ALL GOOD WORKS (2 Tim. 3:16-17). God’s word is profitable for Doctrine, Reproof, Correction, Instruction In Righteousness, that one might be perfect (complete), thus throughly equipped unto ALL GOOD WORKS. “Instruction” in the Word plainly states that fornication as described above is a work of the flesh that leads to eternal destruction if not repented of (I Cor. 6:9; Gal. 5:19-21).

Memory #3 of 3 This is the third portion of a brief series on “Memory” (April, May and June 2016). This article’s emphasis is on not using memory to prevent spiritual danger and destruction, letting greed overpower remembering God’s presence in times past, using memory to correct one’s life and the necessity of being REMINDED TO BE READY FOR EVERY GOOD WORK. God’s people are to maintain GOOD WORKS for necessary uses (to meet urgent needs), that they be not unfruitful (Titus 3:14). When you “forget” you neglect brethren in dire circumstances and no longer care for them spiritually in prayer, or materially. Thus we are admonished “to DO  GOOD, and to COMMUNICATE (SHARING) forget not” (Heb. 13:16). When brethren are SHARING things are good for all who are worthy, and there’s no reason for any member to be overly anxious about material things. We are also as we have opportunity to DO GOOD TO ALL MEN (Gal. 6:10).

They Don’t Have A Right To Be Supported By Our Local Churches The matter of the Truth Magazine Lectureship has come up again (Guardian of Truth Foundation’s). I ask you to consider the following points: (1) What they cannot accept tells what they are; (2) Their use of old liberal institutional slogans tell what they are; (3) Their silly comparisons tell what they lack. Here is an excerpt on the ALL-SUFFICIENCY of the individual and local church: “…And get this, sometimes they’ll claim that whereas their brethren speak of the all-sufficiency of the local church they are somehow denying them their viewpoint of the all-sufficiency of the “individual.” We aren’t denying them anything! If they want to follow the New Testament pattern just mentioned then they can be as capable and active as they have ability and energy. Paul was very effective in his sufficiency as an individual and I think that we are all aware of that!”

Great deceivers are using “love your neighbor” to put their own stamps of approval on iniquity! They teach the local church is accept and fellowship heterosexual couples living together in fornication (sin, Gal. 5:19), those in homosexual and lesbian relationships (sin, I Cor. 6:9, Rom. 1:26-27), condone and fellowship adulterous marriages (Matt. 19:9), etc. These deceivers are guilty of rejoicing in iniquity, not loving God, and being religiously injurious to all in their wicked deceptions! Their churches are full of iniquity and their members love to have it so (2 Tim. 3:1-5, 4:3).

All Lives Matter – A Hot Topic! When one turns to the Gospel of Christ immediately its emphasis is ALL LIVES MATTER (Mk. 16:15-16).  Saying “black lives matter” became political and enforceable and people followed like sheep! All lives matter — don’t be stupid and endorse the Black Lives Matter organization that is evil. Have the courage as a Christian to say all lives matter. This is fundamental to our example as a teaching element and concern for lost souls (Cf. Mk. 16:15-16, Gal. 6:10, etc.). There is NO PARTIALITY WITH GOD (Rom. 2:5-11; Acts 10:34 …God is no RESPECTER OF PERSONS).

Various Errors Concerning Salvation:  Often times the problem is not one’s sincerity but “what” one has been taught. Today much emphasis is put on “belief” (just as long as one is sincere) rather than the necessity of the Truth being believed. Moreover, too many push “sincerity” is good enough regardless of what is believed. They say believing (whatever) is the important thing. This is wrong. Why not read these articles with this in mind? Then ask, What does the New Testament really teaching concerning initial salvation? Articles included: 1. The So Called “Sinner’s Prayer” (Jan. 31, 2015); 2. A Wrongful Understanding of Confessing Sins (Feb. 28, 23015); 3. One Must Confess Jesus is the Christ the Son of God (Mar. 28, 2015); 4. There Is No Such Thing as “Infant Baptism” (April 25, 2015); 5. There Is No Such Thing as the “ALTAR CALL” (May 30, 2015).

Why I Am Not A Nazarene  This article written by B.J. Bronger explains, as one who at one time was in the Nazarene church, the injustices done to the Lord’s plan of salvation by the church of the Nazarene. We invite you to read this carefully for many find themselves in either his or similar circumstances found in denominationalism. Here is an excellent example of the detriment of the so called “ALTAR CALL” and “praying through” that stands in opposition to the New Testament requirements for salvation.

9-11-2001 ~ Things I Can Count On Today   AMERICA was attacked by terrorists on this date. This is a “time” when people thrive upon inappropriate statements, and misleading applications of God’s Word. Many love to “go with the flow,” and jump on the bandwagon! Illustrations of such would be, “Nostradamas said…,” “Armageddon has come,” “the Mark of the Beast.“ When men ask, “Why?“ or “What is the future?“ then Christians know ...”

One Nation Under God  This article begins with an example of patronage to our flag and pledge of allegiance, but respectfully submits that the mention of God brings with it an even greater lesson concerning "Allegiance." For Christians the words "under God" are illustrative of God's rule over all the nations of mankind (Ps. 2:7-12; Matt. 28:18-20; I Tim. 6:15; Rev. 2:27). Moreover the earth, the world, and all who dwell therein ~ all souls are His (Ps. 24:1; Ezk. 18:4; Haggai 2:8). Through simple deduction and reduction one soon comes to understand on a Personal Individual basis that they do indeed belong to God, for He created man (Gen. 1:27). Applying the principle of God's ownership on an individual personal level means that we respond to the fact that His ownership demands our personal loyalty and obedience to His commands. The article shows clearly that AMERICANS must not confuse patriotism with personal obedience that saves the soul. Sadly, herein is where Americans are failing today!

In The House of Public Issues Here is information on the National Cathedral in D.C. hosting same-sex nuptials. Here is a present example of the fallacy of human conventions making man made laws and binding them on their church. Such displays how corrupt churches really are! This includes a brief history of the Episcopal Church and it progression into gay marriage. The ANGLICAN FELLOWSHIP and Church of England’s love for human tradition is also exposed as they battle for Women Bishops.

A Review of “Questions of Women’s roles…requires grace, humility” by Cana Moore (Part One) Part One: Here is an article concerning womens’roles in the church. It especially centers on the woman is not to USURP AUTHORITY over a man in I Tim. 2:12. Paul said “And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence” (I Tim. 2:12). I’ve got some things I want to say that I believe apply to some of the contexts in the article; the article should elicit thoughts of your own as well.

Light Beer Is Not So Light!  Perhaps you've wondered what the alcohol content is in light beer. In this brief article you will find an answer to that important question. Dear reader do not believe every thing that you hear concerning light beer. And especially comments to this effect, "What's the big deal after all it is only light beer?" Why not read this article and give careful consideration to the scriptural warnings as to how alcohol mocks the drinker and presents one who rages and is ANGRY, their woes, the deceitfulness of alcohol, and its attendant state of drunkenness and addiction?

A Case Of Compromise The primary part of this study concerns Jehoshaphat (the king of Judah) and his compromise with wicked Ahab the king of Israel (the northern kingdom). It compares Ahab's religion with the description of Jehoshaphat who did not let the Levitical service and the Temple deteriorate, but was diligent in having the law of God taught in Judah (2 Ch. 17:6-9). A secondary point is that another's antecedent conduct can be just grounds at times for ANGER when warning one not to go and put their self in the same situation with a person who has already proven to be a bad influence upon them. This simple lesson shows why people compromise the Truth along with the attendant consequences for doing such.

The Foolishness In Forgetting God’s Word Trials should not cause us to forget God’s law! We can receive strength in remembering past trials we persevered in (Cf. Heb. 10:32-34). The one who perseveres does not shrink back! Specifically, when one turns their back upon God they will forget His word, benefits, past deliverances, that man’s wrath can be over ruled by God’s ANGER, that God’s victories display his righteous judgments, and one would be forgetting the lovingkindness of the Lord! Why not read this article and acquaint yourself with what is happening when one forgets God’s law?

What To Tell Your Mate When They Are Guilty of Wrath Christians need to study and then be honest and make the right applications to one another, all family members, and especially with their own mates (Cf. I Th. 5:14). Read this article to understand the things one should tell a mate concerning their ANGER.

Wicked Ahab’s ANGER displays this hatred. Moreover, he was arrogant and careless with God’s ANGER!

A Case Study of Mourning Sin:  This article explains in detail what it truly means to mourn the sins we see others commit. For example, the first point given emphasis is we mourn the sins of others when we are justifiably ANGRY (ANGER), Ex. 32:18-21. Several applicable points are presented.

God Turns The Way Of The Wicked Upside Down This lesson considers the path of the wicked that is a familiar topic throughout the Psalms. You will learn about the wicked by the following: (1) God thwarts the way of the wicked (Ps. 146:9); (2) God puts the wicked in great fear because He despises them! (Ps. 53; Lev. 26:14-33); (3) Accusers are filled with their own ways (Ps. 109). This section tells you exactly what will happen to the wicked. Seeing the good works of the one he curses causes him to be filled with more ANGER, indignation; (4) You will learn about the purpose of their traps they set for the righteous; (5) God overthrows the best of secret counsel (Ps. 64).

Selected Newspaper Articles for 2013 These newspaper articles from 2013 include: (1) “Using ‘Christendom’ to Cover Religious Error”; (2) “The Ways of the Street Mugger”; (3) “Murders, Murderers, Victims”; (4) “Surely not a Hot Head” – points on ANGER, the ANGRY MAN, and (5) “Surely not a Greedy Person.”

Those in young adulthood are to know that for all things done God will bring you into judgment (Eccl. 11:9). Thus they must remove SORROW (GRIEF and ANGER) from their lives, and pain from their body for childhood and the prime of life are fleeting!

The Bible Does not Teach Praying to Animals  Amazingly during the celebration of the “blessing of animals” this year one church, not Catholic, offered this opportunity: “In addition to the blessing, all present can offer special prayers to the ANIMAL FRIENDS who have died. Each person may name the pet.” At least this is what appeared in the newspaper article promoting this event. Read this article and you will notice several strange and divergent views that some hold concerning ANIMALS as part of God’s creation.

A Read the Bible Story worth Telling The importance of reading the Bible is stressed along with appropriate applications concerning the blessings of reading it, hearing it and keeping it. Maturity only comes one way – in time with study and application (Heb. 5:12-14). This is not a commendation: “For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.” When you don’t study this is where you are at. How do you know “ANOTHER Jesus,” “ANOTHER spirit,” or “ANOTHER gospel” if you haven’t mastered the one and only gospel Christ gave? (2 Cor. 11:4; Gal. 1:6-9). There is this warning: If you could not understand the Bible you would not know the difference between human tradition, man’s so called spiritual wisdom, and God’s Word (Col. 2:8). With that in mind the article presents a conversation with a man who said that he is reading the Bible for himself for the first time in his life. Moreover, he’s seeing the differences between what man is willing to teach for the sake of human tradition, power, prestige, etc. and how the Bible really reads.

A Study of the Antichrists (Here is a study that corrects false views that many today have of what the Bible teaches about the ANTICHRISTS.)

Loving Israel for the Wrong Reasons  The history of Israel goes back to God’s promise of Christ through Abraham’s see (Gen 12:1-3).

5. The offer of salvation through THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST IS NOT ANTISEMETICboth Jews and Gentiles are equal in Christ’s church.

A Request: Pray For Me! This article deals with Christians who request prayer on their behalf. One point given emphasis is "Are they working at controlling ANXIETY with prayer?" Additional points are applied concerning the one making the request. It also presents the need for repentance and confession of one's sin as well as an appropriate rebuke at times (I Pet. 3:12, Acts 8:22-24, James 4:4, I John 1:9).

"What went you out…to see?" This is a lesson on dress. The study looks at Jesus' teaching concerning "ANXIETY" and dress (Matt. 6, the Sermon on the Mount). Following this, application is drawn from the use of "clothing" as a metaphor in warning against false religious teachers (Matt. 7:15).  A very important lesson is drawn from His teaching concerning the hypocritical Jewish leaders who were skilled in identifying their "own" holy signs of dress, yet so unskilled in listening to God's word and identifying "proper" conduct. What it means to present one's self as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God (Rom. 12:1-2), is viewed in the light of proper dress and conduct. The kind of conduct that shows respect for oneself, for others, and manifests one's self control (I Tim. 2:8-9).

There’s So Much More to Tell One Another about Anxiety Being Christians there’s just so much more truthful things we can tell one another about ANXIETY. These things are matter of respecting the Lord’s authority – they are given to us in the Scriptures. Read about these and apply Luke 6:46 “And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?”

Memory #2  You may desire to read “Memory #1” for April 2016 before this continuing article concerning some simple applications pertaining to one’s memory. Emphasis in this article is given to the importance of our remembering our own past conduct. Paul did not exclude himself when speaking of past conduct before his conversion – stating plainly that he was a blasphemer, persecutor and violent aggressor against the church. There is also the importance of our not forgetting even one of God’s benefits given to us in Christ. Sometimes you make more than one trip through a “wilderness” you’ve been through before – you can do it without being overly ANXIOUS when you continue to serve God, trust in His deliverances, and do not serve Mammon (cf. Matt. 6:24-25).

Man Telling God What Is Authorized  Specifics of descriptions given in the Scriptures, for our admonition and learning concerning those going into APOSTASY are: 1. They are rebellious; 2. They are liars; 3. They will not hear the law of the Lord; 4. They bear rule by their own means; 5. The people love to have it so. In this article both Jeremiah and Isaiah are quoted as presenting the mindset of those who are intent on shutting the mouths of the faithful who are content with trusting in God’s ways in order to receive His blessings.

The Lies Of Apostasies The full title of this article is “The Pattern Of Lies Producing And Sustaining Apostasies.” You don’t see much on this particular part of APOSTASY in spite of the fact that those involved are frequently said to have misrepresented others’ statements, twist what others say in confronting them, and that they just flat make false statements. Read this article to study what Jeroboam did wrong when he said in his heart that God’s established order would not work. Besides Jeroboam’s APOSTASY, the article presents in detail the pattern of lies producing APOSTASIES from the book of Jeremiah. Application is made to our brotherhood’s HUMAN INSTITUTIONS. Now, today, as some men speak of the “danger” involved in what Florida College and now the Guardian Of Truth Foundation (Truth Magazine Lectureship) are doing they say it competes with the Local Church God ordained, and has the potential to “replace” the local church in this country.

NOTE: You will also find a series of articles answering arguments made for the existence of FLORIDA COLLEGE on our Home Page. Simply access “Florida College” or click here  .      “When the Lord opens the door…” This article relates two separate incidents with regard to those who think instruments of music are acceptable in church worship. Both serve, I believe, as a reminder of how APOSTASY works and presents itself in order to perpetuate its working of error. The second incident illustrates how APOSTASY never stands still. You should know this and be able to see this. The next generation goes yet further progressing in error. Some churches calling themselves churches of Christ have now added the instrument of music! For more information on the worship of the church go to: The Worship of the Church.      Going to Church with the Easter Bunny Paying close attention is hard work (Heb. 2:1-3). W. E. Vine states commenting upon the word correctly translated “Passover” (Acts 12:4), “The term Easter is not of Christian origin. It is another form of Astarte, one of the titles of the Chaldean goddess, the queen of heaven. The festival of Pasch held by Christians in post-apostolic times was a continuation of the Jewish feast, but was not instituted by Christ, nor was it connected with Lent. From this Pasch the Pagan festival of Easter was quite distinct and was introduced into the apostate Western religion, as part of the attempt to adapt Pagan festivals to Christianity” (Vine’s Expository Dictionary). Why not read this presentation and understand fully that the churches of Christ in the first century were not given a special Easter service. The development of SPECICAL DAYS and FESTIVALS for the church after the death of the apostles was the result of APOSTASY.

The Great Apostasy is Done, Finished! This article brings the APOSTASY of Individual Societies built by Christians up to date. What was proposed in the 1800s and then again in our lifetime has taken root. Faithful members have always recognized that the congregational plan is the divine arrangement. Societies built today to do the works God gave His organization, the local church, to do are additions to His plan. They are not as is said just another avenue, or tool, for the church to do its work. Again, they are additions to God’s divine plan! This article applicable to the Guardian of Truth Foundation Lectureship, Florida College engaged in worship and evangelism, and multiple CAMPS that engage in worship and edification. In conjunction with this you might also want to read “Individually Supported Societies on the Sideline.” (For Human Organizations or Institutions doing the work of the local church see “Human Organizations” (H index); “Institutions” (I index).

Patterns of Apostasy Repeat Themselves: The following brief outline on “Patterns of APOSTASY” repeating themselves is used in our congregation for a “special class” when needed. The outline of itself presents a quick view of patterns repeating themselves through the years of even our own lives. It presents both “individual” and “church” supported societies that have been built by brethren: In 1845 J.T. Johnson’s evangelistic plan for individual not a congregational association; 1849 the American Christian Missionary Society supported by churches; (methods promoting apostasy during this period were used to introduce Instrumental Music in worship: (1) as early as 1851 in Kentucky “We are far in the rear of Protestants on the subject of church music”; (2) L. L. Pinkerton of Midway Ky. 1860 – can pinpoint the suggestions and argument “for”; (3) back again in 1864 W.K. Pendleton admits no N.T. usage but argues on basis of “silence of the scriptures” and “expediency” – it was an expedient like the  church building); 1942 Planning for Florida Christian College begins and in 1946 first students. This was not church supported but tactics similar to earlier apostasies; 1948 the Akin Foundation established as an organization for the support of churches of Christ; 1950s the Gospel Press organized to initially be supported by individuals – then started soliciting churches; 1950s the church support of Human Societies – Orphan Homes, the College, etc. The Sponsoring Church movement: The Herald of Truth, Feb. 10,1952 the Highland Church of Christ, Abilene, Tx. – was not same false pattern as A.C.M.S. was; 1970s-80s talk about our brethren building human societies for evangelistic purposes – as with other apostasies can pin point beginnings – 1973 the Cogdill Foundation appealed for contributions (donations) to send free tracts to the Philippines – questioned and dropped the appeal – late 1970s Mike Willis, the Guardian of Truth Foundation – discussions with Gene Frost, etc.; 2004 The first Guardian of Truth Foundation Lectureship – in just some 30 years a major apostasy again! Today we see a most “institutional” non-institutional brotherhood – to list a few through the years: Florida College, Guardian of Truth Foundation, F.C. Camps and others now, the Barnabas Ministry, WOW, Bread Upon the Waters, 1213. * For more detail see the outline.

Educational Institutions Among The Brethren by Robert F. Turner (Preceptor 1962)   EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS AMONG THE BRETHREN. Preface: The below is the first of six articles written in 1962 by brother Robert Turner as duplicated by brother Dan Gatlin. A link will be provided should you desire to read them in full, and I believe it will benefit you to do so. However, I’m compelled to warn that the below approach captioned with the catch phrase “hasten leisurely” was not and is not today the way to deal with apostasy. The phrase as you’ll see was taken from the president of Franklin College who urged brethren in 1850 to “hasten leisurely” in their conclusions touching the subject of the Bible in Colleges, Professorships in Sacred History and Theological Schools. Brother Turner adopts and repeats it as that which best expresses his own personal feelings on this matter in 1962 — some 112 years later. We must never convince ourselves as Christians only that to deal with error (*APOSTASY) immediately and demand repentance will do more harm than good — those involved in error must repent and stop the practice thereof (Cf. Acts 15:1-2; Gal. 2:14). Although you find no scriptures in the several pages of these articles — “church history” has been and easily may be accompanied by New Testament Scriptures to expose the false practices, motives and patterns produced by the human wisdom that seeks to establish human organizations to do the work Christ gave the churches of Christ to do.

At This Point In My Life…. Warnings concerning brethren not desiring sound doctrine, was well as commands to speak the things concerning sound doctrine are easily found throughout the epistles (2 Tim. 4:3; Titus 1:9, 2:1 etc). Looking back institutional error can be much more serious than one might think when participating. We see the inability to believe that APOSTASIES affect one’s eternal destiny. God requires an account of what is past. We need to gather up those passages on remembrance, reminding, and how putting in remembrance is a safe thing for all.

“What defines a Church of Christ” Questionnaire (Reviewed)   A questionnaire, totaling 640 plus respondents, titled “What is a Church of Christ” deals with the above question. Some of the answers unscriptural as they were did not surprise me in the least — they echoed the same cat calls we have heard for years to join in fellowship with the denominations and other church types. You see their APOSTASY. It set forth the clear division between non-institutional (N.I.) churches and those supporting para-church organizations and missions. It mentioned churches that have added instruments of music for worship, jointly ministered with denominational groups and have changed the name but “still identify with the fellowship of autonomous congregations.” In their mind perhaps, but they fail miserably in thinking that those studying the New Testament see them somewhere in there.

How to Deal With Issues While Loving and Following Jesus Those who deal with issues that come up concerning sound doctrine are often called arrogant for doing so. But think of the arrogance that exempts from the task. Brethren (including all members) don’t get to decide “which issues” they’ll deal with for the “issue” comes to you and your church by evil men entering in among you, and from within i.e. from among yourselves men arise speaking perverse things. It is sheer arrogance for one to think they are so important that they do not have to deal with any issue that involves sound doctrine.  APOSTASIES repeat themselves – some are listed as a reminder of how faithful brethren contended against them.

When “Mr. Make a Show” Visits There are all kinds of visitors – some are beneficial, some are benefitted by edification and instruction and humble themselves (Cf. I Cor. 14:25), and some are to be watched carefully (Cf. Acts 20:28-29) for in seeking to join in fellowship they’ll lead you into APOSTASY!

Selected Newspaper Articles From The Valley Church of Christ  This short article contains several important points on THE APOSTLES of Christ. Moreover it shows that the Pope is sadly lacking among the APOSTLES. Paul was the last apostle and taught along with the other apostles that their authority was not legislative authority; they simply presented to the world what Christ through the Holy Spirit gave to them (Cf. John 16:13; Mk. 16:15-16). They were guided into “all” the truth, the revelation of His will was completed in the first century, and those who would add to it or take from it were to be accursed (Cf. John 16:13; Gal. 1:8-12; Jude 3). Why not read this short article titled, “Among The Apostles There Was No Pope!”

"He who receives you receives Me" (Matthew 10:40). The foremost lesson in this article is the authority Christ vested in His APOSTLES and their conduct in preaching the Gospel. But the article also gives emphasis to the matters of both "giving" and "receiving."

Human Creeds and Statements of Faith Many believe that their church’s creed – often written long ago – is equal in authority to the New Testament scriptures. This article is written with the intent of showing that creeds and statements of faith often contain error. Many statements of faith are written to “attract” by stating social goals. Sadly, these are lacking in stating truthfully what is necessary for one to believe and do in order to be saved. Even the ancient Apostles’ Creed is not enough!

Identity Theft   Here is a lesson based upon the prevalence of “identity theft.” This lesson answers the questions, “What is identity theft?”, “How do thieves steal an identity?”, “What do thieves do with a stolen identity?”, “How can you find out if your identity was stolen?” and ”What can you do to help fight identity theft?” --- All with a spiritual view as to the use of Christ’s name without proper permission and how Christ name theft crimes take many forms. There is but “one” Gospel just as there is but one of each of our persons (cf. Gal. 1:6-10). Spiritually the unity of belief and practice of the one Gospel is the means by which we fight identity theft and protect against those who wear Christ’s name who are frauds. Describing spiritual impostors Paul said they are FALSE APOSTLES, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ and servants of righteousness (cf. 2 Cor. 11:13-15). You will find twelve scriptural and helpful applications for detecting these impostors who preach another Gospel. Such will “rob” you of your prize if you let them (Col. 2:18-19).

Casting Down Eloquence & Sophistry Series (2 Cor. 10:4-5) This series title is aimed at the eloquence and sophistry of false teachers. Modern teachers love to emphasize some of the teaching of Jesus while discounting the teaching of His APOSTLES. This “discount” includes all prophets who wrote the New Testament. Their prejudice against the whole of the New Testament scriptures makes it easy to identify them. It is the Scriptures themselves that expose their unwillingness to accept the whole of the New Testament teaching as the revealed will of Christ. The APOSTLES had executive authority not legislative authority. The real problem is such teachers do not believe what Jesus said! Why not take time to read the exposure of such false teachers in these newspaper articles.

Things in Christ not found in Islam One simple but effective way of explaining the difference between a major “world” religion and the gospel of Christ (the New Testament, Matt. 26:28) is to show the things found “in Christ” that are not found elsewhere.  Among the items listed that are not found elsewhere is the APPEASEMENT of God's wrath through the sacrifice of Christ.

A Read the Bible Story worth Telling The importance of reading the Bible is stressed along with appropriate applications concerning the blessings of reading it, hearing it and keeping it. Maturity only comes one way – in time with study and APPLICATION (Heb. 5:12-14).

“Thank you for the strong words.” The title is also a quotation from a visitor. She said, “I want you to know it is good to hear strong words used. Back home we don’t get that.” The thing that bothers too many brethren today is direct and proper APPLICATION to the brotherhood, the local church, other local churches and individual lives. She made some good “application” herself – a wonderfully strong statement concerning a member who isn’t coming. In no way did she indicate that it was otherwise and that she just could not attend at all. She said they had a member who says she’s sick, but sets at home and watches that “dribble” from the fake T.V. evangelists on healing, and then when we admonish her we’re not loving enough and too hard.” Sound familiar?

A Simple Biblical Pattern For Explaining “Why?”  A respondent who questioned the matter of judging those who live together without marriage stated, “I think these days it can be a good thing to live together before getting married....  This obviously goes against your feelings, but they're just your feelings, not everyone's." Last of all she stated, "As far as your last sentence, it's not an idea that it's acceptable and normal, these days, IT IS acceptable and normal.... If you don't like it, then don't do it.... I wouldn't criticize you...why do you judge about people who choose to live together?"
This individual wants to know “Why” I would determine that people who choose to live together are wrong in doing so. I presumed this to be an honest question deserving of an answer.

In part, one must understand that following a desire to know God's will as one reads the Bible they must learn to make the proper APPLICATIONS. Proper APPLICATIONS necessitate distinguishing between what is "right" and what is "wrong."  Jesus stated His requirement for proper judgment with, "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment" (John 7:24). Righteous judgment is based upon His word, the truth, and that without partiality (Cf. I Tim. 5:21, James 2:4). Moreover God’s teachings and warnings are to apply to every man (Col. 1:28). Instruction in the Word plainly states that fornication as described above is a work of the flesh that leads to eternal destruction if  not repented of (I Cor. 6:9; Gal. 5:19-21).

What To Tell Your Mate When They Are Guilty of Wrath Christians need to study and then be honest and make the right applications to one another, all family members, and especially with their own mates (Cf. I Th. 5:14). Often those given to wrath rage against faithful preachers and teachers because they make the right APPLICATIONS.

What You Can And Will Do In Christ This brief study should offer assuramce to Christians that their efforts to serve God faithfully are attainable, as well as being greatly aided by others' prayers on their behalf. C. Strengthened for attaining all stedfastness and patience, with Joy. D. Joyously giving thanks to the Father. Following is a "Check Your Spiritual Growth With Self-Test Questions" giving further emphasis to our growth and development. Here we find such questions as: Do I APPROVE the things that are excellent? The stated "goal" of our efforts is seen in Philippians 1:10-11.

Commending Myself to Others  This article deals with a point often overlooked when teaching on the conscience. “Conscience” here is the other person’s perception! Rather than having approval in my own conscience concerning myself, here the APPROVAL is in others’ consciences. It’s like saying, “How do you feel about me now?” Why not consider studying this applicable lesson for Christians?

(cf. I Tim. 4:1-4).

Bible Endings For Torn Relationships  Five important Bible relationships are presented while giving emphasis to the importance of entreaty and reconciliation. The relationships discussed in this article include Cain & Abel, Esau & Jacob, Saul & David, Paul & Barnabas and Euodia & Syntyche.

5. The offer of salvation through the gospel of Christ is not antisemiticboth Jews and Gentiles are equal in Christ’s church.

6. The offer of salvation through the gospel of Christ does not favor ARABS or Gentiles over others all are equal in Christ’s church.

The mark of the beast, 666,  Rev. 13:16-17  A respondent has stated that people are going around preaching the number 666 about everything. He states that people are even looking for the "mark" on the foreheads of others and requests that something be said about this. The material puts the "mark" in the context (historical setting) where it belongs! Satan, Rome and the false prophet form an alliance as Satan works to destroy Christ's church. The great battle that has been building up between these forces of evil and those of God comes to a head in Revelation chapter19. The battle is depicted in Rev. 16:16 as coming together at a place called ARMAGEDDON. “And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue ARMAGEDDON" (Rev. 16:16).

1. Jesus Is King Of The Jews And Of All Men!

2. The Israel of God Today (With Additional Comments on Zionism).

3. Christianity Does Not Teach Another Temple In Jerusalem!

4. The One Thousand Year Reign Is Not On Earth!

5. The BATTLE OF “ARMAGEDDON.”

Things in Christ not found in Islam One simple but effective way of explaining the difference between a major “world” religion and the gospel of Christ (the New Testament, Matt. 26:28) is to show the things found “in Christ” that are not found elsewhere.  Islam denies the purpose of Christ's ASCENSION into Heaven. The glory and function of Christ in Heaven is stated along with man's attendant responsibilities.

Selected Newspaper Articles   These are selected articles that appeared in our local newspaper, The Sun. The intent of these articles is that each shows a love for and desire to present the Truth without incorporating the emotional flavor so popular with other religious bodies today. These contain “An Old Fear And Shame ~ EASTER.”  Like most today leaders in the second century were desirous of making the church more attractive. They were fearful that the simple worship God gave His church would be held in contempt by those used to pompous ceremonies as part of their old systems. This fear was coupled with their being ASHAMED of the truths of the Gospel (Cf. Rom. 1:16-17; 2 Tim. 4:1-6).  This departing from the faith was a refusal to accept the admonition given by Paul in Col. 2:14-16 and Gal. 4:10. Leaders today stand guilty of the same refusal, fear, and being ASHAMED in their binding the observance of days, festivals and celebrations upon their churches (Cf. Gal. 1:6-9; Rev. 22:18-19).

The Way of Integrity Psalms 119 This Psalm is often avoided because of its length. This study begins with eight points on integrity with God. Follow these application is made from each of the remaining sections. You will note that our inconsistencies are often our reproach in life. And that there is boldness in serving God when there are no inconsistencies. Also, that affliction is one of God’s ways to “make” us understand His precepts. We keep His statues in order that we may not be ASHAMED! Understand that it is on the grounds of your integrity that you may plead to God for protective care against the wicked (Ps. 119:121-128). These are but a few of the good lesson presented through studying this Psalm. Why not read the article and while doing so read it along with your Bible?

What Stubbornness Really Is The prophet Jeremiah had a lot to say about the stubbornness of God’s people. He pulled no punches but stated plainly the carnality involved. The purpose of this study is to ensure that we understand the importance of obedience being commanded us. The seriousness of this study is seen in that the stubborn contend with God, are punished, and while being punished go yet onwards towards that point where iniquity is great, sins are numerous, and God’s punishment painfully serious! The stubborn refuse to be ASHAMED while having their own way!

The Lies Of Apostasies The full title of this article is “The Pattern Of Lies Producing And Sustaining Apostasies.” Read this article to study what Jeroboam did wrong when he said in his heart that God’s established order would not work. Besides Jeroboam’s apostasy, the article presents in detail the pattern of lies producing apostasies from the book of Jeremiah. Some important questions answered are: Why do lies prevail? How has the truth been affected? What Lies? What will God do in the end? They were not ASHAMED of their false way (Jer. 6:15, 16) – God’s old faithful paths were a reproach to them (Jer. 6:10). They refused to be ASHAMED (Jer. 3:3). Apostasies are the result of being ASHAMED of God’s ways and the local church just not being enough for brethren! When God’s people are ashamed of His ways, then God will be ASHAMED of them! (cf. Mk. 8:38; Zech. 11:8).

Seeing evidence of God’s care for the righteous makes him ASHAMED! (4) You will learn about the purpose of their traps they set for the righteous. God’s power over them can make them ASHAMED (disappointed, confounded) and dishonored (feel insult, put to reproach, confusion). They can be driven backwards and humiliated!; (5) God overthrows the best of secret counsel (Ps. 64).

Selected Newspaper Articles The following are selected newspaper articles ran by the Valley church of Christ for 2009-2010. We put some together periodically in order to post them on our website. Both churches and preachers would do well to consider that just offering a few scriptural points on important topics can go a long way in helping others. Consider the following points on (1) Why Pentecostal / Charismatic Tactics Easily Deceive; (2) NOT BEING ASHAMED SEEN ~ Complaining With No Intention Of Making Things Scriptural; (3) Stupid Kid’s Games Draw Customers; (4) Liberation Theology & Marxist Ideology; (5) Human Creeds & Statements of Faith

It is sheer arrogance for one to think they are so important that they do not have to deal with any issue that involves sound doctrine. All must not be ASHAMED of the gospel (2 Ti. 1:8).

How Will God Feel About You When You Ask Him For Help? Do you know someone who is in trouble and needs God’s help? In this brief study the scriptures are related to  three important questions dealing with those times when we need, desire, and ASK for God’s help: (1) When you want God’s help how fast do you want Him there? (2) When we need Him to deliver us how far do we want Him from us? (3) How do you want God to feel about you when you ASK Him to help you?

Vindication Based Upon One’s Righteousness, Integrity This study is linked with a prior article and is a continuation of integrity as defined from Psalms 119, as well as other Psalms. For the first article see the introduction. In this study you will find such points as: (1) Pleading for protection against the wicked, (2) One’s hope for deliverance, (3) ASKING God for vindication, (4) Who is fit for communion with God, (5) What preserves when in distress, (6) The “I Haves” of integrity, and (7) David’s integrity.

Aids & Additions (Expediencies Reviewed) Most churches never speak out on the necessity of having “scriptural authority” for what one believes and practices. In fact, most are not willing to deal with the subject because of the lack of authority for things they are doing. It is important to know the difference between “aids” used to carry out what is authorized versus “additions” which are things not authorized. This lesson should help with that distinction. Applications are made to these important topics: (1) Instruction to ASSEMBLE; (2) The Example of a Treasury; (3) Why the Church Building Is Authorized; (4) Social Functions: Kitchens, Fellowship Halls & Game Rooms On Church Grounds; (5) The ASSEMBLIES of the church in I Cor. 11, 14; (6) Acts 2:42-46; (7) The Serving of the Widows, Acts 6:1-6.

Such As The Father Seeks To Worship Him The following article was written with a view to a better understanding of acceptable worship in the ASSEMBLY, and imploring “all” who are members to help out and join together in a concerted effort to repel the present attack upon worship today. Read the article and then, if you are a Christian, step forward, speak up, give counsel and do not put the sole burden of having to deal with unseemly conduct during worship solely upon those who stand before all and lead!

Telling Members They Are Sinning In Deliberately Missing Church  This article is about brethren’s failures in ASSEMBLING. It is one of the most needed and necessary lessons of our day. Beginning with a list of well known excuses offered by brethren from all over, the blame is placed where it should be and this is with the unfaithfulness of the church as a “whole.” Local churches are failing miserably in making certain of any particular member’s faithfulness, and thus not to be guilty of allowing unfaithfulness. That “fear” is the main reason there is an obvious (manifest) attendance problem in so many churches is plainly stated. Members themselves are afraid of disciplining for fear of losing numbers, finances, status, etc. God’s people should be told their sins! Are you afraid to do that? Also see “Oh yes, what do you mean by collective responsibilities?”

Selected Newspaper Articles Here are four newspaper articles presented to the community with a love for the truth. The intent is to present God’s truths  without incorporating the emotional flavor so popular with other religious bodies: (4) “Justifying Self By Saying Church Responsibility Is Not Necessary” answers four popular self justifications offered for not studying and seeking to worship in a scriptural church. The oft repeated self justification based on the kingdom is: 2. “Jesus said the kingdom of God is within you.” Answer: Christ dwells in the heart of true Christians (Eph. 3:17), and they will not disobey this command to not forsake ASSEMBLING themselves together: “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching” (Heb. 10:25). Why not read the pitiful self-justifications along with their scriptural answers?

Selected Newspaper Articles for 2013 These newspaper articles from 2013 include: (1) “Using ‘Christendom’ to Cover Religious Error”; (2) “The Ways of the Street Mugger”; (3) “Murders, Murderers, Victims”; (4) “Surely not a Hot Head” and (5) “Surely not a Greedy Person.” – Tactics of greedy, covetous members who forsake ASSEMBLING.

“Thank you for the strong words.” The title is also a quotation from a visitor. She said, “I want you to know it is good to hear strong words used. Back home we don’t get that.” The thing that bothers too many brethren today, and it sadly lacking because of that, is proper application to the brotherhood, the local church, other local churches, and individual lives. Some good application on not ASSEMBLING.

Selected Newspaper Articles from 2016  These four newspaper articles include: (1) Surely Such Beautiful People (In this article “Beautiful people are just everywhere here!” People, and especially our youth, do not understand the vanity that is evil and destructive). (2) Surely Correct Thinking ~ Although It Does Not Begin With the Fear of the Lord (In this article “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge” (Pr. 1:9) – “beginning” meaning the first step in acquiring and then applying God’s revealed word. This is not your own “I think” or “I believe.” Four important applications display what men are willing to do when they lack the fear of the Lord. (3) Surely Not Their Kind of Preacher ~ Hired to Protect the Ungodly (Based upon I Tim. 3:16-17 it is the members themselves who are responsible for maintaining such preachers; these men pleasers are standing in line to take the place of those who preach the truth and are dismissed or cast out for doing so. (4) Surely Displays Great Love for Jesus ~ Cancelling Church for Sunday Dec. 25 (Lk. 2:11 says “For you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.” That’s right, all we have is “this day” --- thus the obvious flaw in saying that anyone today knows the exact day Jesus was born. Since no one knows then how can “cancelling” church figure in at all on “Christmas”? Put this with the command not to FORSAKE ASSEMBLING and you see that love of the Traditions of men, not God’s Word, is all important and mighty self-serving.

Should “Grass Roots” Pol. Movements Address Local Churches of Christ :This is election year and I’m hearing that a pastor (denominational usage) is afraid if he doesn’t allow his church to have a requested political presentation from our grass root political movement. It never dawned on such that a church of Christ would be in scriptural agreement that such is not authorized as part of an assembly of the church. Where did personal conscience suddenly go? What happened to religious liberty? Read this study to understand why all the members of the local church are in agreement, and make no apologies for respecting the authorized work of the ASSEMBLIES of the church.

INCLUDED:

1. Christ’s Kingdom is a Spiritual Kingdom, Col. 1:13.

2. The Local Church With It’s Own Oversight & Collective Work.

3. ASSEMBLIES are the Collective Function of the particular Local “Body” as an Organization.

4. Some Scripturally Authorized Purposes for the ASSEMBLIES of the Local Church.

5. Christians as Individuals Participated in Government.

6. God did not Give the Gospel to Civil Government.

7. A Civil or State Religion.

8. Concerning Political Movements & Organizations.

9. Man’s Ways are not God’s Ways (Isa. 55:8-9).

10. It is Not a Matter of Just Losing One’s Tax Exempt Status.

The only kind of ASSEMBLY of a local church that is worth a dime is the kind Paul commanded for Corinth: 1Co 14:24 But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all: 1Co 14:25  And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.

Here the visitor is convicted by all who give instruction in God’s word (I Cor. 14:24). In other words, based upon scriptural instruction and application by the teachers, the person is actually told where their sins are leading them — they receive a rebuke even though just visiting. Imagine that!

Here the visitor is judged of all by the instruction given (I Cor. 14:24). The word “judged” has the various definitions of 1a) to investigate, examine, enquire into, scrutinize, sift, question (Thayer’s definitions). Concerned reader, do you see the point clearly? The point is that YOU are just what God’s Word is looking for! Here the secrets of the heart are made manifest to himself (I Cor. 14:24). Those who go a lifetime playing “games” — thinking that they have escaped the eyes of God — are greatly deceived:

Heb 4:12  For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Heb 4:13  Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

Here the visitor did not jump up and leave. He stayed for he had found the truth of God’s Word (I Cor. 14:24). When visitors are looking to please “self” rather than God then you’ll often see them get up and march out. Those who hate the Light aren’t comfortable around applicable teaching. It isn’t that the church is not friendly. It is what Jesus said about those who love darkness rather than light because their deeds are evil.

Covid Restrictions ~ Just Safety or Persecution Included  WORSHIP  - NOT FORSAKING ASSEMBLING -- The CORONA VIRUS ~ COVID19 RESTRICTIONS - Just what kind of “push” did you expect from the ungodly and unbelieving to make? Get the preachers out of the way – make them turn from the rightful order of things – let’s not hear about God and His law.

“I’m Staying with Zoom” The current pride in technology denominational invite is “Worship online or in person here.” We must be certain that what we do with high tech is scriptural as regards the work and worship of Christ’s church. If “zoom” and “online” are let stray, as some among us already have, then you will have a developed human tradition that will cause many to lose their souls. The impact itself on the body of Christ can be like a spreading spiritual virus in years following upon member’s zeal for assembling (Cf. Eph. 4:14; 2 Tim. 2:17; Heb. 10:24-27). You must know the difference between the word “home” and “house” and “houses” and the words “come together as a church” and “ASSEMBLING of ourselves together” and “in the church.” Read here for proper definitions that lead to proper applications of what it means to ASSEMBLE TOGETHER.

DO BRETHREN KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE WORD “HOME” AND “HOUSE” AND “HOUSES” AND THE WORD “ASSEMBLY” OR “CHURCH”?

Included in the instruction (sound doctrine) for the partaking of the Lord’s Supper:

WE HAVE SOUND DOCTRINE ON ASSEMBLING

Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

Heb 10:24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,

Heb 10:25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

Heb 10:26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,

Heb 10:27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.

Application: “assembling of ourselves together” [G1997 episunagōgē] Thayer Definition:

1) “a gathering together in one place.”

2) the (religious) assembly (of Christians)

Compare: 1Co 11:20 “Therefore when you come together in one place, it is not to eat the Lord's Supper.”

Application: This is not one at his home – another at her home -- others in their home – or a portion of the church in someone’s home and other portions elsewhere.

IS A HUMAN TRADITION BEING DEVELOPED NOW AMONG CHURCHES?

Are brethren being led to believe that an online presentation is “assembling”?

Withdrawal: Family Reunions, Vacations, Special Days etc. This article presents the local church’s collective responsibility to withdraw from a member who walks disorderly, as well as each individual Christian’s duty to not ASSOCIATE with any brother who leads an unruly life and not according to the instruction revealed in the New Testament scriptures. It includes such verses as Matt. 18:15-17; I Cor. 5:11; 2 Th. 3:6, 14, 15; 2 Cor. 2:6-8 as well as information on invites and feasts found in the New Testament.

CONSIDERING THE “WHY” OF SEARCHES SEEKING “CONTACT” WITH EXTRATERRESTRIAL BEINGS, AND SEEKING PLANETS CAPABLE OF SUSTAINING LIFE --- THE THINKING IS LIKE EVOLUTION THAT GOES STRAIGHT TO ATHEISM!

Selected Newspaper Articles for 2013 These newspaper articles from 2013 include: (1) “Using ‘Christendom’ to Cover Religious Error”; (2) “The Ways of the Street Mugger”; (3) “Murders, Murderers, Victims”; (4) “Surely not a Hot Head” and (5) “Surely not a Greedy Person.” – Tactics of greedy, covetous members who do not ATTEND as they should.

“Thank you for the strong words.” The title is also a quotation from a visitor. She said, “I want you to know it is good to hear strong words used. Back home we don’t get that.” The thing that bothers too many brethren today, and it sadly lacking because of that, is proper application to the brotherhood, the local church, other local churches and individual lives. Here is some  good application that compels to deal with those not ASSEMBLING.

Telling Members They Are Sinning In Deliberately Missing Church This article is one of the most needed and necessary lessons of our day.

Casting Down Eloquence & Sophistry Series (2 Cor. 10:4-5)   Modern teachers, ATHIESTS and mockers often portray God in the Old Testament as being ruthless and unloving. A common tactic is to present the idea that God in the Old is different from God in the New Testament. Such seek to bypass the fact that the judgments of God brought upon the world, as recorded in the Old Testament, were indeed left as warnings for us today. People love the deception in being told that God today just isn’t like that (cf. Rom.16:17). But God will punish the wicked in hades and eternally in hell (cf. Lk.16:22-26; Matt. 10:28). Sodom’s filthy conduct in the Old (Gen.19) stands as an example of the punishment of such for those who live afterwards in the New Testament period (2 Pet. 2:6-9; Jude 7). Jesus, Himself God, referred to this judgment where the Lord rained fire and brimstone on Sodom and Gomorrah. He said it will be just the same way the day the Son of Man is revealed! (Lk. 17: 27-30). Jesus also referred to the destruction of the ungodly in the world by the Flood (Lk. 17:26-27). Another thing is the Rock who led Israel in the wilderness was Christ (Ex. 13:21; I Cor. 10:4). Moreover, Paul taught the judgments brought upon Israel by God in the wilderness stand as examples; they were written for our warning so that we would not desire to do the evil things they did and likewise be punished by God (I Cor. 10:5-12).

Verses are presented that deal with: (6) ATTENDANCE for entertainment and one’s own selfish desires

Many and Few by Contrast  It is better to have few than to have the human organizations our brethren have formed that intrude into the work God gave the local churches to do. God’s blessings come for the few as well as many who are willing to respect scriptural authority. Here are some applications on ATTENDANCE with SMALL NUMBERS.

Principles For Helping One Another This study presents the duty of Christians helping one another. Perhaps you need to read up on some of the improper motives for helping another. You can find some listed here!  Also, you can learn more, perhaps, concerning the improper ATTITUDES manifest towards those who do fulfill their duty to help others.

The Head And Authority of the Church This is Lesson Two in our Series: "Fundamental Lessons on the Church." Lesson Two: "The Head And Authority of the Church." In this lesson you will learn about the church with Jesus Christ as the one and only head. The church has the responsibility to hold to, uphold, and proclaim the New Testament as the word of Christ, the AUTHORITY that Christ gave to the church. The church is not the authority. The revealed word is the authority Christ gave for the church to uphold and proclaim.

Rule of Law Points  From the AUTHORITY implied in the “name” of Jesus Christ, who has all AUTHORITY, several points are made concerning the Gospel as the power of God unto salvation for all men, JESUS’ AUTHORITY TO JUDGE BY HIS LAW, Sin as a violation of Christ’s law and how His law convicts of sin. Major emphasis is also given to the RULE OF LAW of law being attacked by ignorance, wrongful intent, good intentions, sincerity, carelessness, ignoring, impulse and inconsistency, showing partiality, outright defiance, distortion of one’s words and partial narratives of the Word (to neglect to teach the whole counsel of God, Acts 20:27, 32.). Applications include God is no respecter of persons, to show respect of persons is sin, the kind of judgment that condemns oneself, and the one who boasts in God’s law but dishonors God through breaking the law.

How Can One Understand the Word of God? (A Brief Study of Scriptural Authority)  Most churches never speak out on the necessity of having “SCRIPTURAL AUTHORITY” for what one believes and practices. In fact, most are not willing to deal with the subject because of the lack of authority for things they are doing. Here is a brief study on how to establish scriptural authority by using Statements, Commands, Examples, and Necessary Inferences found in the Word of God. Each person is expected to read and understand God’s Word, just the same as if someone gave them an important set of instruction dealing with their work, or health, to read for their benefit.

Excuses ~ Oldies Are Still the Goodies! There’s nothing so entertaining to some as tuning in to the “Oldies” program on their available radio network. In fact, I have a neighbor who does just such a program — he is a veritable walking encyclopedia on the hits from the 60s. Some of those hits you just don’t get tired of hearing, and there are some excuses for evading SCRIPTURAL AUTHORITY that you are always hearing from those who never tire of using them. Here are several oldies that are still goodies for those disrespecting SCRIPTURAL AUTHORITY.

Why Churches Fear Applying “Scriptural Authority” ~ Selected Newspaper Articles Deals with false plans for unity. Local churches of Christ must continue to be the pillar and support of the truth. These three articles relate to the fear manifested by church leaders who use human wisdom, emotions and lies; whose goals are power, prestige, pleasing self and material gain. Members themselves love their false position that allows them to fulfill their own lusts. Accepting the elements in this shared arrangement led to Unity in Diversity among denominationalists (I’m OK, you’re OK); a mutual agreement that we’ll soft pedal on doctrinal differences and FELLOWSHIP one another. This deliberate deception to ignore the AUTHORITY of the Scriptures expanded as Prayer became an ecumenical tool used to unify the Inter-Faith Movement (So called “Christians,” Jews, Muslims, and those of Eastern faiths joined together in worship); “ONE God many faiths” flies in the face of “ONE Lord,” ONE body” and ONE faith” (cf. Eph. 4:1-4).

Surely Fair is Unacceptable ~ “All” Works of the Flesh are Sinful! Concerning SCRIPTURAL AUTHORITY. One aspect of “RELIGIOUS FREEDOM OF SPEECH” is the right to name specific immoralities (works of the flesh) as well as oppose the teachings of other religions (cf. Matt. 15:12-14). Much is said today in defense of practicing homosexuality as if none have the right to say religiously that it is sinful conduct. However, true Christians believe and teach that “all” works of the flesh identified in the New Testament are sinful and that includes practicing homosexuality (Cf. Rom. 1:24-32; I Cor. 6:9-10; Gal. 5:19-21).

Local Church Autonomy  This is Lesson Six in our Series: "Fundamental Lessons on the Church." Lesson Six: "Local Church Autonomy." Scriptures emphasizing local church AUTONOMY or INDEPENDENCE are presented along with the needed applications for the present day. In this lesson there is a list comprising the work of the local church and this "is" what the elders oversee as elders!  The lesson contains a warning against the unscriptural sponsoring church arrangement. It is impossible to build a religious organization consisting of many local congregations under the oversight of a single administrative body by God's simple plan for governing His church! Not elders or evangelists, separately or in any combination can by God's simple plan find authority for building such religious organizations.
