The "C" List: to help with finding a topic look at the words in BOLD print.

Reply to a response on "Questions on Witchcraft"  A respondent to "Questions on Witchcraft" has present the idea that there was race upon earth who did not have Adam and Eve for their genealogy. She says CAIN married one of these "other people" who are first mentioned in Gen. 4:16. She claims to be of this so called "other people." The reply shows how her claim doesn't fit with the scriptures in the Bible.

Bible Endings For Torn Relationships  Five important Bible relationships are presented while giving emphasis to the importance of entreaty and reconciliation. The relationships discussed in this article include CAIN & ABEL, Esau & Jacob, Saul & David, Paul & Barnabas and Euodia & Syntyche. Here are some goals for entreating: 1. To be of the same mind, Phil. 2:2; 2. To be at peace, I Th. 5:13; 3. To understand the outcome of dissension. It strengthens the enemy of the gospel; the weak when pulled in to dissensions are caused to stumble; 4. To repent and return to the work, Rev. 3:19-20; 5. To use with older men, I Tim. 5:1; 6. To implement with God's wisdom which is easy to be entreated, Ja. 3:17-18. Thus one is to be both approachable and easily persuaded to do that which is right.

Selected Newspaper Articles for 2013 These newspaper articles from 2013 include: (1) “Using ‘Christendom’ to Cover Religious Error”; (2) “The Ways of the Street Mugger”; (3) “Murders, Murderers, Victims”- CAIN; (4) “Surely not a Hot Head” and (5) “Surely not a Greedy Person.”

Why I Am Not A Nazarene  This article written by B.J. Bronger explains, as one who at one time was in the Nazarene church, the injustices done to the Lord’s plan of salvation by the church of the Nazarene. We invite you to read this carefully for many find themselves in either his or similar circumstances found in denominationalism. Here is an excellent example of the detriment of the so called “altar call” and “praying through” that stands in opposition to the New Testament requirements for salvation. One “CALLS UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD” when he arises and is baptized as the servant of God said in Acts 22:16.

Things Often Missing During Afflictions The applications in this brief study will deal with those who are in affliction.  Dear reader, you will notice God has no pleasure with some; for others, they see God’s faithfulness during their afflictions.  The pattern for the sick is that they CALL for brethren to pray for them, James 5:14-15.

Various Errors Concerning Salvation:  Often times the problem is not one’s sincerity but “what” one has been taught. Today much emphasis is put on “belief” (just as long as one is sincere) rather than the necessity of the Truth being believed. Moreover, too many push “sincerity” is good enough regardless of what is believed. They say believing (whatever) is the important thing. This is wrong. Why not read these articles with this in mind? Then ask, What does the New Testament really teaching concerning initial salvation? Articles included: 1. The So Called “Sinner’s Prayer” (Jan. 31, 2015); 2. A Wrongful Understanding of Confessing Sins (Feb. 28, 23015); 3. One Must Confess Jesus is the Christ the Son of God (Mar. 28, 2015); 4. There Is No Such Thing as “Infant Baptism” (April 25, 2015); 5. There Is No Such Thing as the “ALTAR CALL” (May 30, 2015).

Why Aren’t Your Kids In Camp?  (1997) Summer time of the year obviously appears to be what some have referred to as the time for "youth summer CAMP," "youth rallies," and "FLORIDA COLLEGE CAMP" time. I offer the following by way of warning. If you think I'm too concerned about nothing of any importance then you may be the one who needs the warning. NOTE: You will also find a series of articles answering arguments made for the existence of FLORIDA COLLEGE on our Home Page. Simply access “Florida College” or click here  . (For Human Organizations or Institutions doing the work of the local church see “Human Organizations” (H index); “Institutions” (I index).

It’s Not A Church! (2010) Once accepted one human organization spawns others. A kinship develops through acceptance, and the influence of even one “type” of human society can weigh strongly in others’ desire for yet another. The common defense of the human society amongst us is “It’s not a church” --- thus the arguments that the school, THE CAMP and the benevolent society engaged in works God gave the local church are to be accepted. But defining the human society by what it is “not” by no means scripturally justifies it. This article presents this common defense with current application. This article contains a description of a Florida College Camp for application.

The Great Apostasy is Done, Finished! (2012) This article brings the apostasy of Individual Societies built by Christians up to date. What was proposed in the 1800s and then again in our lifetime has taken root. Faithful members have always recognized that the congregational plan is the divine arrangement. Societies built today to do the works God gave His organization, the local church, to do are additions to His plan. They are not as is said just another avenue, or tool, for the church to do its work. Again, they are additions to God’s divine plan! This article is applicable to the Guardian of Truth Foundation Lectureship, Florida College engaged in worship and evangelism, and multiple CAMPS that engage in worship and edification. In conjunction with this you might also want to read “Individually Supported Societies on the Sideline.”

NOTE: You will also find a series of articles answering arguments made for the existence of FLORIDA COLLEGE on our Home Page. Simply access “Florida College” or click here  .      It’s Camp Time Again! (2013) Brethren building human organizations to function in worship and edification is again addressed by referencing the Camps. Such CAMPS are our children’s introductions to brethren building unauthorized human institutions for worship, edification and evangelism. Local churches should teach on human organizations depreciating God’s own divinely given organization, the local church. You will find points such as: (1) The Fallacy of “You’re another one!”  An example of falsely claiming you’re another: “Well it is just like the family when you have someone over for a bible study.” God authorized the family (Gen. 2:24-25). The family is a God ordained institution. When we have a bible study with others there is no collective treasury for all. The Camp is a man made religious organization; (2) “The Apology that is an Admission”: Some have sought to offer an explanation that their aim is to be neither a church nor a Bible Camp in the popular sense, but to instill moral principles and other virtues taught in the Bible. They say that they include Bible study and worship in daily activities but the “main thrust” of the Camp is not evangelism. Smooth words and fair speeches!  The “dual-purpose” argument — that the primary purpose authorized the secondary is often used but is of no value. There’s nothing right about worshipping with the human organization.

Our Brethren’s “Sole Purpose” Argument & “The Percentage Justification” (2014): Note: This article applies to Camps as well as other Human Organizations brethren build!  “Some of our brethren have built and maintained human organizations (businesses) that do a portion of the above works belonging to the local church. Such will often seek to justify their own organization’s work in these areas by citing a percentage basis. They will reason if the “sole purpose” is evangelism to save the lost world then it would be wrong. Then they say that the “spiritual work” done is not the primary work of the legitimate business in question. This is an all too obvious maneuver or trick that intentionally takes away the importance of the “whole” as belonging to God’s specified organization -- the local church arrangement given to His people.” (For Human Organizations or Institutions doing the work of the local church see “Human Organizations” (H index); “Institutions” (I index).

Florida College Camp Arizona ~ Your Child’s Introduction to Institutionalism (2018) Unauthorized human organizations built by brethren that intrude into the work Christ gave for the churches are discussed here. The emphasis is on CAMPS and the obvious part they take as well as their promotion of Florida College.

Patterns of Apostasy Repeat Themselves: The following brief outline on “Patterns of Apostasy” repeating themselves is used in our congregation for a “special class” when needed. The outline of itself presents a quick view of patterns repeating themselves through the years of even our own lives. It presents both “individual” and “church” supported societies that have been built by brethren: In 1845 J.T. Johnson’s evangelistic plan for individual not a congregational association; 1849 the American Christian Missionary Society supported by churches; (methods promoting apostasy during this period were used to introduce Instrumental Music in worship: (1) as early as 1851 in Kentucky “We are far in the rear of Protestants on the subject of church music”; (2) L. L. Pinkerton of Midway Ky. 1860 – can pinpoint the suggestions and argument “for”; (3) back again in 1864 W.K. Pendleton admits no N.T. usage but argues on basis of “silence of the scriptures” and “expediency” – it was an expedient like the  church building); 1942 Planning for Florida Christian College begins and in 1946 first students. This was not church supported but tactics similar to earlier apostasies; 1948 the Akin Foundation established as an organization for the support of churches of Christ; 1950s the Gospel Press organized to initially be supported by individuals – then started soliciting churches; 1950s the church support of Human Societies – Orphan Homes, the College, etc. The Sponsoring Church movement: The Herald of Truth, Feb. 10,1952 the Highland Church of Christ, Abilene, Tx. – was not same false pattern as A.C.M.S. was; 1970s-80s talk about our brethren building human societies for evangelistic purposes – as with other apostasies can pin point beginnings – 1973 the Cogdill Foundation appealed for contributions (donations) to send free tracts to the Philippines – questioned and dropped the appeal – late 1970s Mike Willis, the Guardian of Truth Foundation – discussions with Gene Frost, etc.; 2004 The first Guardian of Truth Foundation Lectureship in just some 30 years a major apostasy again! Today we see a most “institutional” non-institutional brotherhood – to list a few through the years: Florida College, Guardian of Truth Foundation, F.C. Camps and others now, the Barnabas Ministry, WOW, Bread Upon the Waters, 1213. * For more detail see the outline.

What You Can And Will Do In Christ  This brief study should offer assurance to Christians that their efforts to serve God faithfully are attainable, as well as being greatly aided by others' prayers on their behalf. What one CAN and will do by remaining faithful in Christ is declared through the words of Paul's prayer for the church at Colossae in Col. 1:9-12. Here are the key thoughts: A. Be filled with knowledge, all wisdom and spiritual understanding. B. Walk worthy, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. C. Strengthened for attaining all steadfastness and patience, with Joy. D. Joyously giving thanks to the Father. Following is a "Check Your Spiritual Growth With Self-Test Questions" giving further emphasis to our growth and development into mature children of God. The stated "goal" of our efforts is seen in Philippians 1:10-11.

Jeremiah and the Unfaithful Remnant  In a prior article “Zedekiah Would not Listen” God repeated the same warning to Zedekiah, and to all the people. You may desire to read that article that deals with the same period of Judah’s history. The ACCOUNT JEREMIAH GIVES OF THE UNFAITHFUL REMNANT is one chalked full of their lies, false requests for prayer on their behalf, and idolatry as God repeats His warning. They “should clearly understand” that God has spoken and what God says He’ll do to those who do not listen is what He does! Read this lesson and understand God. For a study of Jeremiah and “The Three Stages of the BABYLONIAN CAPTIVITY of Judah and Jerusalem” see “b” list: An End! The Babylonian Captivity   (Part One: Focus On First & Second Stages) ; An End! The Babylonian Captivity (Part Two: The Third Stage, Focus On Zedekiah) ; An End! The Babylonian Captivity (Part Three: Jeremiah’s Lamentations).

Jeremiah’s Lamentations – Look Who’sCast into Hell! Two prior articles deal with the days of Jeremiah: Zedekiah Would not Listen and Jeremiah and the Unfaithful Remnant (REMNANT). This article describes the abject misery in Jerusalem as God brings His judgments upon Judah and destroys Jerusalem. Although the word “hell” is not found in the LAMENTATIONS of JEREMIAH it is seen everywhere. Read about the various classifications of individuals who were cast into eternal torment. For a study of Jeremiah and “The Three Stages of THE BABYLONIAN CAPTIVITY of Judah and Jerusalem” see “b” list: An End! The Babylonian Captivity   (Part One: Focus On First & Second Stages) ; An End! Eze 7:2 “And you, son of man, thus says the Lord GOD to the land of Israel: 'AN END! The end has come upon the four corners of the land.

Eze 7:3 Now the end has come upon you, And I will send My anger against you; I will judge you according to your ways, And I will repay you for all your abominations.

I thought it would be good for the younger christians in the church here to see clearly the truth in these statements concerning Israel's provocation and rebellion against God -- and especially through their lust for idolatry:

*SEE THE TRUTH IN THESE STATEMENTS: •Deu 9:6 Therefore understand that the LORD your God is not giving you this goodland to possess because of your righteousness, for you are a stiff-neckedpeople.•Deu 9:7 "Remember! Do not forget how you provoked the LORD your God to wrath in the wilderness. From the day that you departed from the land of Egypt until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against the LORD.•Deu 9:24 You have been rebellious against the LORD from the day that I knew you.

One repeated important application in this study: Pro19:27 Cease listening to instruction, my son, and you will stray from the words of knowledge.

Someone Christians Never Need --- The Corporate Chaplain   The corporate Chaplain is unknown in the New Testament church. Here is your “physical future” generally speaking (Eccl. 12:1-8). With that in mind this article presents Duties one must fulfill. First, there is duty to self to not forsake the truth in old age. There is also the duty to relieve and care for one’s own family. Thirdly, this article presents some of the dangers for Christians in CARE CENTERS and lessons learned from the elderly, both good and bad.

The Majority Know Another Jesus The church at Corinth gladly tolerated fools who taught another Jesus and different gospel, Paul said (cf. 2 Cor. 11:4, 19).  It is possible for one to read the trifling literature of fools and possess a completely false view of Jesus. Read the Gospels for your self and see what He really did do and teach. Here’s a start with applications from the Gospels themselves that show the stark differences between what most think Jesus taught and what He really did teach! Verses are presented that deal with: (13) those guilty of allowing the CARES of life, its pleasures and riches to choke the Word out of their life…

Rule of Law Points From the authority implied in the “name” of Jesus Christ, who has all authority, several points are made concerning the Gospel as the power of God unto salvation for all men, Jesus authority to judge by His law, Sin as a violation of Christ’s law and how His law convicts of sin. Major emphasis is also given to the RULE OF LAW of law being attacked by ignorance, wrongful intent, good intentions, sincerity, CARELESSNESS, ignoring, impulse and inconsistency, showing partiality, outright defiance, distortion of one’s words and partial narratives of the Word (to neglect to teach the whole counsel of God, Acts 20:27, 32.). Applications include God is no respecter of persons, to show respect of persons is sin, the kind of judgment that condemns oneself, and the one who boasts in God’s law but dishonors God through breaking the law.

C. Strengthened for attaining all stedfastness and patience, with Joy. D. Joyously giving thanks to the Father. Following is a "Check Your Spiritual Growth With Self-Test Questions" giving further emphasis to our growth in knowledge and ability to discern both good and evil.  To do this the Christian must put to death  CARNALITY AND THE WORKS OF THE FLESH that make us dull of hearing, and spiteful of one another (I Cor. 3:1-3). The stated "goal" of  our efforts is seen in Philippians 1:10-11.

Let Us Get You A New Kind Of Preacher! Those full of CARNALITY (works of the flesh) accuse the faithful unjustly with wicked intent, spread strife with their mouths, and set an example of evil for others to imitate (cf. 3 John 10-11). They have a goal, an objective, and will sacrifice the truth and brethren to achieve it! These are looking forward to and working towards division in order that they might have their own way, and that with the “kind of preaching” that lacks application and pleases the ungodly (cf. 2 Tim. 4:1-5). Understand that the longer the church postpones dealing with them scripturally the closer they get to their unscriptural goals (cf. Rev. 2:20). There is nothing more CARNAL, and full of the works of the flesh, that I can think of at this age in my life than brethren who work to stop applicable preaching and teaching. They will stop at nothing to get the “new kind” of preacher. Old warnings need to be issued! As in the past there will always be bigger churches somewhere ready to aid the pattern of apostasy and provide the “new kind” of teachers and preachers. That is how apostasy is able to continue. Brethren beware! It is quite possible that you know of such things happening among us.

The Appreciation Of Godly Sisters In Christ The tremendous value of our sisters in Christ is set forth in this article. Beginning with the honor that is due to faithful women in Christ, the study sets forth the various duties enjoined upon them in regards to their family and service rendered to the church that Christ built. They are to be ready unto every good work (Eph. 2:10, I Tim. 5:10, Titus 3:1, 2:14). We are all to stay ready unto every good work (Titus 3:1). The first thing said about the unappreciated sister(s) is she gives herself to wanton pleasure and is dead while she lives (I Tim. 5:6). Sensual desires lead to her CASTING OFF THE FAITH (I Tim. 5:10-13). Paul says others would follow what some had already done in turning aside after Satan (I Tim. 5:15). Why not study the nine points of application directed towards their being scripturally appreciated?

The Catholic rule of faith is not the New Testament This article discusses the "additions" of CATHOLICISM along with its frank admission that the New Testament scriptures are not its sole authority. These additions, the Catholic hierarchy claims have equal authority to the sacred Scriptures. It is through these "additions" that the hierarchy of the Catholic Church maintains and exercises its control over its people. At the end of the article Christ's scriptural qualifications for a bishop or elder in His church is contrasted with a so-called Bishop in Catholicism. You will be able to see the difference between the two!

Baptism As Taught From The Bible   An example of baptism in the first century is set in contrast with teaching from the CATHOLIC ENCYLOPEDIA, "Baptism, Sacrament of." The explanation that the Catholic Encyclopedia gives simply does not equate with what the New Testament teaches about baptism being an immersion. The mode of baptism taught in the New Testament is immersion and not "pouring." Neither does the New Testament teach a blessing of the water before baptism! Above all the New Testament does not teach Infant Baptism.

Selected Newspaper Articles From The Valley Church of Christ  This short article contains several important points on the apostles of Christ. Moreover it shows that the CATHOLIC Pope is sadly lacking among the apostles. “Among The Apostles There Was No Pope!” Paul was the last apostle and taught along with the other apostles that their authority was not legislative authority; they simply presented to the world what Christ through the Holy Spirit gave to them (Cf. John 16:13; Mk. 16:15-16). They were guided into “all” the truth, the revelation of His will was completed in the first century, and those who would add to it or take from it were to be accursed (Cf. John 16:13; Gal. 1:8-12; Jude 3).

The Bible Does not Teach Praying to Animals  Amazingly during the celebration of the “blessing of animals” this year one church, not Catholic, offered this opportunity: “In addition to the blessing, all present can offer special prayers to the animal friends who have died. Each person may name the pet.” At least this what appeared in the newspaper article promoting this event. Read this article and you will notice several strange and divergent views that some hold concerning animals as part of God’s creation. Other scriptural points made are: 1. Living members of the church at Philippi were called “saints” in the first century church (read Phil. 1:1). The New Testament knows nothing of the elaborate process that CATHOLICISM practices in making one a so called “Saint” such as St. Francis of Assisi, and then honoring them. 2. Human myths and traditions when practiced and believed as one’s religion make void the commands of God (read Matt. 15:3-8; Col. 2:8; I Tim. 1:3-4, 6:4). 3. Titles such as Rabbi, Father, Master, Reverend, etc. are man’s credentials given by the human institutions men build that bestow them. They simply have no place in Christ’s church – read Matt. 23:8-10.

Selected Newspaper Articles   These are selected articles that appeared in our local newspaper, The Sun. The intent of these articles is that each shows a love for and desire to present the Truth without incorporating the emotional flavor so popular with other religious bodies today. These contain “An Old Fear And Shame ~ EASTER.”  Like most today leaders in the second century were desirous of making the church more attractive. They were fearful that the simple worship God gave His church would be held in contempt by those used to pompous ceremonies as part of their old systems. This fear was coupled with their being ashamed of the truths of the Gospel (Cf. Rom. 1:16-17; 2 Tim. 4:1-6).  This departing from the faith was a refusal to accept the admonition given by Paul in Col. 2:14-16 and Gal. 4:10. Leaders today stand guilty of the same refusal, fear, and being ashamed in their binding the observance of days, festivals and CELEBRATIONS upon their churches (Cf. Gal. 1:6-9; Rev. 22:18-19).

Of course, there is also the duty to relieve and care for one’s own family. Thirdly, this article presents some of the dangers for Christians in care centers and lessons from the elderly, both good and bad.

Selected Newspaper Articles The following are selected newspaper articles ran by the Valley church of Christ for 2009-2010. We put some together periodically in order to post them on our website. Both churches and preachers would do well to consider that just offering a few scriptural points on important topics can go a long way in helping others. Consider the following points on (1) Why Pentecostal / Charismatic Tactics Easily Deceive; (2) Complaining With No Intention Of Making Things Scriptural; (3) Stupid Kid’s Games Draw Customers; (4) Liberation Theology & Marxist Ideology; (5) Human Creeds & Statements of Faith.

Selected Newspaper Articles Dear reader the following titles are selected newspaper articles that appeared in our local newspaper the Yuma Sun. Advertizing for many churches tends to follow the current trend for advertizing in general and has an emotional “pitch” to possibly interest the reader. The intent of these articles is that each shows a love for and desire to present the Truth without incorporating the emotional flavor so popular with other religious bodies today. There is nothing comparable to the truth of God’s words with its wisdom. The topics are: (1) “The Buyer Is Like The Seller; The Creditor Is Like The Debtor” (What God’s word says about liars, cheats and murderers applies to all – the rich and poor!); (2) “Wicked Kids, Teens, Beating & Stomping Others”(This exposes the lie, “Oh they’re just too young to know better!”; considers the CHILDREN who mocked Elisha; “Even a CHILD is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right” (Pr. 20:11); (3) “Some Wrights Are So Wrong” (When so called “Pastors” are asked if John 14:6 is true and if they think Islam is another way to salvation, and then suggest that there is another path to the Father they deny what Jesus and the apostles taught! Cf. Jo. 12:48).

The Transgender Attack This contains two newspaper articles: (1) Surely Not Shameless ~ The Transgender Directive; (2) Surely Not Living a Lie ~ The Transgender Directive. These present both the spiritual and physical dangers tied to the recent “I think I identify with transgender” decree from President Obama. This is moving quickly in our society and especially so when the media’s bias is presenting the kind of things that promote LGBT (Lesbian, Gay *Homosexual, Bi-sexual, Trans-sexual) – included are scriptures on evil thoughts, evil desire, lewdness, shameless behavior, uncleanness, motives, the mind, and depraved passions that belong with God’s wrath upon the Children of disobedience.

Selected Newspaper Articles From The Valley Church of Christ With a view in mind that there are still parents and young adults who care about morality and integrity we issued three important scriptural warnings to parents for graduation night:  (1) Do not be the parent whose CHILD knows you are a hypocrite; (2) Do not give in to your CHILD’S wrongful wish; (3) Do not allow your CHILDREN to make provision for sinful lusts. These three warnings are developed in this article titled “Scriptural Warnings Appropriate For Grad Night.”

“THEY DELIGHT IN DESTROYING!”; “THEY ARE NOT GOOD PEOPLE, NOR CHILDREN.” : “THEY ARE NOT GOOD PEOPLE, NOR CHILDREN.” …These two articles connect both adults and children to the destructive influence of WOKE philosophy, LGBTQ, and TRANS INFLUENCE.

From Youth through the Prime of Life (Eccl. 11:9-12:1)  There are degrees of progression of age in this text. Accountability is seen throughout and the “right” things done are contrasted with things sinful that must be removed. These portions of life merge together and are fleeting, thus the necessity of remembering one’s Creator in the days of youth. Those in young adulthood are to know that for all things done God will bring you into judgment (Eccl. 11:9). Thus they must remove sorrow (grief and anger) from their lives, and pain from their body for CHILDHOOD and the prime of life are fleeting!

The Quran On Jesus (Series)  You will often hear that Islam honors all prophets, including Jesus. Just what “kind” of honor does Islam give to the Lord Jesus Christ? It is certainly not that they believe in His deity because they do not. The truth is Islam repeatedly denies that JESUS CHRIST is God. Islam also denies the basic tenants of the New Testament teaching about Jesus and salvation. How do you supposedly honor Him when the honor you give to Him is the dishonor of saying He was not who He said He was? Why not follow this series and see the many truths that Islam denies about Jesus that the New Testament teaches and Christians believe? This series presents these BASIC TEACHINGS ABOUT JESUS CHRIST all people need to hear: Jesus is God – the Word was God; He is before all things & created all things; The significance of His Birth -- He took the body prepared for Him and came into the world; He came from Heaven to do the Father’s will; The significance of His being Worshipped – He received worship because He was God; Jesus preached the Kingdom was near; His Kingdom is not of this world; He was delivered over and put to death by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, but God raised Him up; Through His Sacrifice upon the cross he obtained eternal redemption; He finished the work the Father gave Him to do here on earth; He ascended to the Father’s right hand being both Lord and Christ; In Jesus we have redemption and He is the propitiation the sins of the world; His commission given to the Apostles declares the necessity of obedience in baptism to obtain salvation; The beginning of the church of Christ, Acts 2; His Kingdom has come – the Present Reign & Kingdom of Christ; Christians have been translated into the Kingdom of Christ; The Seed Promise made to Abraham; All baptized into Christ are Abraham’s Seed and heirs according to God’s promise; The Gospel is for all the world thus one can hear it and obey it anywhere upon the earth; His Kingdom is not of this world; The Second Coming of Christ is what is coming next in point of time; The Second Coming is the Resurrection Day; The Judgment Day is the Resurrection Day; The Resurrection Day is the End of the World.

A Jewish Claim Refuted It is sometimes argued that the Bible's holding Jews responsible for the crucifixion of CHRIST might foster feelings of hatred towards the Jewish people in general. When one considers all of the circumstances connected with the death of Jesus who is called Christ (Messiah is translated Christ in the scriptures), still there is just no place for such a hatred. The reason being that Christians accept Peter's recorded statement that "God exhalted Jesus to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins." How can any true Christian hate anyone since they believe man's only hope of salvation is connected with the sacrifice of the Messiah, whose blood was shed for the remission of sins? The two (hating any race and desiring any man's salvation) just don't go together. Learn more about man’s part in the crucifixion of CHRIST.

A Study of the Antichrists  Here is a study that corrects false views that many today have of what the Bible teaches about the antichrists. John's teaching states that antichrists are liars who deny that Jesus is the CHRIST, i.e. the Messiah.

9-11-2001 ~ Things I Can Count On Today  America was attacked by terrorists on this date. This is a “time” when people thrive upon inappropriate statements and misleading applications of God’s Word. Illustrations of such would be “Nostradamas said…,” “Armageddon has come,” statements about “the Mark of the Beast” etc. When the world asks why things happen and what the future holds Christians have precious things they depend upon in times of turmoil. These precious things are where a Christian's life really is any day, and any place that they might be. The first of these things is that CHRIST Jesus (God) reigns over all things in heaven and on earth (Matt. 28:18-20).

One Nation Under God  This article begins with an example of patronage to our flag and pledge of allegiance, but respectfully submits that the mention of God brings with it an even greater lesson concerning "Allegiance." For Christians the words "under God" are illustrative of CHRIST’S RULE over all the nations of mankind (Ps. 2:7-12; Matt. 28:18-20; I Tim. 6:15; Rev. 2:27).  He is over the earth and all who dwell therein -- all souls are His (Ps. 24:1; Ezk. 18:4; Haggai 2:8). Through simple deduction and reduction (simple scriptural truths) one soon comes to understand on a personal individual basis that they do indeed belong to God, for He created man (Gen. 1:27). Applying the principle of God's ownership on an individual personal level means that we respond to the fact that His ownership demands our personal loyalty and obedience to His commands. Sadly, herein is where Americans are failing today!

Things in Christ not found in Islam  One simple but effective way of explaining the difference between a major “world” religion and the gospel of Christ (the New Testament, Matt. 26:28) is to show the things found “in CHRIST” that are not found elsewhere.

Messianic Jewish churches  ~ A critique of one of the newer movements (denominations) today, Messianic Judaism. These are Jews who profess belief in Jesus of Nazareth as the Messiah. Their worship appears to be a combination of Old and New Testament items. They look for a return of Christ, whom they do believe is the Messiah, back to the earth in order to reign from Jerusalem. The belief that CHRIST will return to earth to reign over all nations from Jerusalem has been an error since the first century (John 17:4, 11; John 18:36-37). Jesus is King today!

Selected Newspaper Articles for 2013 These newspaper articles include: (1) “Using ‘CHRISTENDOM’ to Cover Religious Error”; (2) “The Ways of the Street Mugger”; (3) “Murders, Murderers, Victims”; (4) “Surely not a Hot Head” and (5) “Surely not a Greedy Person.”

Identity Theft   Here is a lesson based upon the prevalence of “identity theft.” This answers what identity theft is, how thieves steal an identity, what thieves do with a stolen identity, how you find out your identify has been stolen and what you can do to help fight identity theft --- all with a spiritual view as to the use of Christ’s name without proper permission and how Christ name theft crimes take many forms. Spiritually the unity of belief and practice of the one Gospel is the means by which we fight identity theft and protect against those who wear Christ’s name who are frauds. It is important that both of the names “CHRISTIAN” and “brethren” be carefully guarded. You will find twelve scriptural and helpful applications for detecting these impostors who preach another Gospel. Such will “rob” you of your prize if you let them (Col. 2:18-19).

The Name “Christian” and the “Churches of Christ”  Concerning the NAMES “CHRISTIAN” and the “Churches of Christ” (Rom. 16:16).  By the early 1900s the clear distinction between the Church of Christ and the Disciples of Christ had been drawn: Concerning churches that opposed the use of instrumental music in the worship, and missionary organizations: “In 1906, J.W. Shepherd and others had representations to the Census Bureau of the United States government that churches of this persuasion should no longer be listed with the Disciples of Christ but be designated as Church of Christ.” (Murch, pg. 218) “By 1909…some three hundred thousand members were listed under “Churches of Christ,” in comparison with 1, 300,000 listed as “Disciples of Christ.” (Murch, pg. 218)

The Centennial Celebration of Thomas Campbell’s Declaration and Address & “Casual Listeners” Concerning the NAMES “CHRISTIAN” and the “Churches of Christ” (Rom. 16:16). This article presents once again the difference in the “Churches of Christ” and the “Disciples of Christ” --- further shown with a brief discussion of what is called “The Great Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Gathering of 1909” when the Disciples celebrated the centennial celebration of Thomas Campbell’s Declaration and Address.

Replacing the Truth with Christmas Tradition ~ There are many who think mere human tradition is truth today. This article exposes religious errors that a majority practice during the CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY.

Be Sure to Keep Christ at New Years! Professions of love for the “baby” Jesus at CHRISTMAS time are often nothing more than hypocrisy. Such are often followed within a very short period of time with drinking and revelry at New Years. Here is a description of what the drunkard brings upon himself.

Selected Newspaper Articles from 2016  These four newspaper articles include: (1) Surely Such Beautiful People (In this article “Beautiful people are just everywhere here!” People, and especially our youth, do not understand the vanity that is evil and destructive). (2) Surely Correct Thinking ~ Although It Does Not Begin With the Fear of the Lord (In this article “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge” (Pr. 1:9) – “beginning” meaning the first step in acquiring and then applying God’s revealed word. This is not your own “I think” or “I believe.” Four important applications display what men are willing to do when they lack the fear of the Lord. (3) Surely Not Their Kind of Preacher ~ Hired to Protect the Ungodly (Based upon I Tim. 3:16-17 it is the members themselves who are responsible for maintaining such preachers; these men pleasers are standing in line to take the place of those who preach the truth and are dismissed or cast out for doing so. (4) Surely Displays Great Love for Jesus ~ Cancelling Church for Sunday Dec. 25 (Lk. 2:11 says “For you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.” That’s right, all we have is “this day” --- thus the obvious flaw in saying that anyone today knows the exact day Jesus was born. Since no one knows then how can “cancelling” church figure in at all on “CHRISTMAS”? Put this with the command not to forsake assembling and you see that love of the Traditions of men, not God’s Word, is all important and mighty self-serving.

Don’t Call it Easter just “Resurrection Sunday” and Keep the Human Tradition : This article contains a complaint spoken by one who read a newspaper article wherein Lent’s law of fasting is exposed as human tradition, and not the teaching of the New Testament. Most who observe Easter services know nothing about the apostasies in the 2nd Century and what happened from the Period 100 A.D. to 325 A.D. A short view of apostasies from Phillip Schaff’s History of the Christian Church is presented with specific mention of the observance of the so called Christian Sabbath, Pentecost, Passover, Easter, Epiphany and CHRISTMAS.

Civil Government Out of Control (Series) Civil Government -- This is a series of Newspaper Articles that we published in the Yuma Sun. There are six short article based upon activities in the life of the apostle Paul. These present where government officials either failed or succeeded in doing their work. Actually there is a great deal of information here about civil rulers, workers, and politicians dealing with such things as motives, consequences, civil harassment, rumors and lies, hatred, mob violence, intent to murder, greed and man pleasing – the desire and advantage for political figures as they work at pleasing others.

Should “Grass Roots” Pol. Movements Address Local Churches of Christ : This is election year and I’m hearing that a pastor (denominational usage) is afraid if he doesn’t allow his church to have a requested political presentation from our grass root political movement. It never dawned on such that a church of Christ would be in scriptural agreement that such is not authorized as part of an assembly of the church. Where did personal conscience suddenly go? What happened to religious liberty? Read this study to understand why all the members of the local church are in agreement, and make no apologies for respecting the authorized work of the assemblies of the church.

INCLUDED are point on:

  1. Christ’s Kingdom is a Spiritual Kingdom, Col. 1:13.

  2. The Local Church With It’s Own Oversight & Collective Work.

  3. Assemblies are the Collective Function of the particular Local “Body” as an Organization.

  4. Some Scripturally Authorized Purposes for the Assemblies of the Local Church.

  5. Christians as Individuals Participated in Government.

  6. God did not give the Gospel to Civil Government.

  7. A Civil or State Religion.

  8. Concerning Political Movements & Organizations.

  9. Man’s Ways are not God’s Ways (Isa. 55:8-9).

10. It is Not a Matter of Just Losing One’s Tax Exempt Status.

Civil Government – A Hot Topic Civil government is a hot topic and for good reasons — just look at what covid19 restrictions have brought to our nation. Here are a few brief articles that highlight important aspects of a government out of control even according to our own Bill of Rights — much less having intruded into God’s authority! There is an IF that is well known in Acts 4:19, 5:29. If the government’s rules are not a violation of God’s laws then we are to submit to them. When man’s rules seek to restrict God’s commands, then we are restricted by God’s commands!

Included are: The Corona Virus and Worship (April 2020); The Corona Virus and Worship #2 (May 2020); The Corona Virus and Worship #3 – Seeking to Trump God with the Health Card (June 2020); Civil Government #1 ~ The Kind of Government God Approves of Rewards Good Works and not Evil (July 2020) and Civil Government #2 ~ The Kind of Government God Approves of Allows Worship, Work & Provides Protection (August 2020).

The Majority Know Another Jesus The church at Corinth gladly tolerated fools who taught another Jesus and different gospel (cf. 2 Cor. 11:4, 19).  It is possible for one to read the trifling literature of fools and possess a completely false view of Jesus. Read the Gospels for yourself and see what He really did do and teach. Here’s a start with applications from the Gospels that show the stark differences between what most think Jesus taught and what He really did teach! Verses are presented that deal with: (13) those guilty of allowing the activities of life, its pleasures and riches to CHOKE the Word out of their life

Various Newspaper Articles from 2018 There are four newspaper articles selected from 2018: (1) Jezebel A Woman Politician ~ Surely Quality Skills, Empathy with Honor (2) Surely God Had No Place in the Creation ~ But If You Could Only Talk to Stephen Hawking Now! (3) Surely Very Beneficial ~ The “Virtues” of Vulgar Language (4) The “Y” CHROMOSOME ~ Surely “Men” (Males) Disappear in less than 5 Million Years.

Things in Christ not found in Islam One simple but effective way of explaining the difference between a major “world” religion and the gospel of Christ (the New Testament, Matt. 26:28) is to show the things found “in Christ” that are not found elsewhere. Jesus purchased the CHURCH with His own blood (Acts 20:28).  Emphasis is given to the scriptural teaching that Jesus is the head of the church, and the savior of the body (Col. 1:18). The "body" that makes up the saved is the church (Eph. 1:22-23). The church is the saved here on this earth!

You Were Pagans Carried Away Unto Dumb Idols (I Cor. 12:2) Many are simply not aware of the various “other” designations for the Gentiles – such as “pagans,” “heathens,” “infidels” and “unbelievers.” This is especially true when some of these refer to idolaters. The world is divided into two divisions: Christians and the whole world that lies in the power of the evil one, Satan (I Jo. 5:19). Notice the emphasis given to one either being “in Christ” or “without” i.e. “outside” of Christ (Col. 4:5). The CHURCH is presented here as it is – a HOLY NATION (I Pet. 2:9) – the SPIRITUAL ISRAEL, citizenship is in heaven – the church is made up of both Jews and Gentiles. There is no praise here for “man” from a physical, ethnic or national background (cf. Rom. 2:28-29).

“What defines a Church of Christ” Questionnaire (Reviewed)   A questionnaire, totaling 640 plus respondents, titled “What is a Church of Christ” deals with the above question. Some of the answers unscriptural as they were did not surprise me in the least — they echoed the same cat calls we have heard for years to join in fellowship with the denominations and other church types. It set forth the clear division between non-institutional (N.I.) churches and those supporting para-church organizations and missions. It mentioned churches that have added instruments of music for worship, jointly ministered with denominational groups and have changed the name but “still identify with the fellowship of autonomous congregations.” In their mind perhaps, but they fail miserably in thinking that those studying the New Testament see them somewhere in there.

Not looking for "the Church"  Are you looking for "THE CHURCH" you read about in the New Testament? Many who say they are religious are most often not looking for the church of Christ. How about reading this simple presentation that helps to put one's perspective of "the church" where it should be? Notice carefully the continuum as the scriptures present the death of Christ (Matt. 26:28), the establishment of “the church” as His purchased possession (Matt. 16:18), the forgiveness of sins enjoyed by members of the church, being Christians (Lk. 24:46-47; Acts 2:38, 41), and the inheritance the church is promised that awaits the faithful and is yet in the future (Eph. 1:14; I Pet. 1:3-4).

The Local Church The full title of this article is, "Why the difficulty in getting people to see God gave the LOCAL CHURCH?" It is certainly a difficult task to get people who are enthralled with "their" organization (human); human societies built by men to do the work that God gave the LOCAL CHURCH to do are a depreciation of the divine organization God gave. Such is the focus of this article.

They Don’t Have A Right To Be Supported By Our Local Churches The matter of the Truth Magazine Lectureship has come up again (Guardian Of Truth Foundation’s). I ask you to consider the following points: (1) What they cannot accept tells what they are; (2) Their use of old liberal institutional slogans tell what they are; (3) Their silly comparisons tell what they lack. Here is an excerpt on the all-sufficiency of the individual and the LOCAL CHURCH: “…And get this, sometimes they’ll claim that whereas their brethren speak of the all-sufficiency of the local church they are somehow denying them their viewpoint of the all-sufficiency of the “individual.” We aren’t denying them anything! If they want to follow the New Testament pattern just mentioned then they can be as capable and active as they have ability and energy. Paul was very effective in his sufficiency as an individual and I think that we are all aware of that!” (For Human Organizations or Institutions doing the work of the local church see “Human Organizations” (H index); “Institutions” (I index).

It’s Not A Church! Once accepted one human organization spawns others. By defining the human society by what it is “not” by no means scripturally justifies it. This article presents this common defense with current application. The article contains a mention of Ron Holbrook’s “Let the Church be the Church” article for application. (For Human Organizations or Institutions doing the work of the local church see “Human Organizations” (H index); “Institutions” (I index).

Should “Grass Roots” Pol. Movements Address Local Churches of Christ  This is election year and I’m hearing that a pastor (denominational usage) is afraid if he doesn’t allow his church to have a requested political presentation from our grass root political movement.

INCLUDED are points on the following:

1. Christ’s Kingdom is a Spiritual Kingdom, Col. 1:13.

2. The LOCAL CHURCH with Its Own Oversight & Collective Work.

Aids & Additions (Expediencies Reviewed) Most churches never speak out on the necessity of having “scriptural authority” for what one believes and practices. In fact, most are not willing to deal with the subject because of the lack of authority for things they are doing. It is important to know the difference between “aids” used to carry out what is authorized versus “additions” which are things not authorized. This lesson should help with that distinction. Before brethren justify something based upon expediency they must first state the authorized work, need or ting commanded to be done. Sadly, some brethren will reason on the basis of what they “like” or “enjoy” and seek to incorporate it into the work and worship of the local church.  This sometimes happens when brethren seek to justify a practice by saying it makes them feel better. Some just flat reject what is authorized, get mad, and leave. The truth never causes anyone to stumble, but rejecting it will! (I Jo. 2:10). At times you will find members who will accept what is authorized in the work and worship of the church while admitting that in their own mind they’d be willing to do that which is not authorized — this usually comes with the promise that they’d never cause trouble or go against the majority. Error in the mind is still error!

Applications are made to these important topics: (1) Instruction to Assemble; (2) The Example of a Treasury; (3) Why the CHURCH BUILDING is authorized; (4) Social Functions: Kitchens, Fellowship Halls & Game Rooms On Church Grounds; (5) The ASSEMBLIES of the CHURCH in I Cor. 11, 14; (6) Acts 2:42-46; (7) The Serving of the Widows, Acts 6:1-6.

Casting Down Eloquence & Sophistry Series (2 Cor. 10:4-5) While professing love and understanding false teachers make a mockery of Christ’s teaching in “how” they use Matt. 22:39 – they twist “Love thy neighbor as thyself.” They fail to put it properly with the preceding first and greatest commandment – to love God with one’s “all” (cf. Matt. 22:37-38). This love (agapao) is found in both the Old and New Testaments (cp. Rom. 13:8-10). It carries with it the idea of duty and obedience to God. Great deceivers are using “love your neighbor” to put their own stamps of approval on iniquity! They teach the LOCAL CHURCH is to accept and fellowship heterosexual couples living in fornication (sin, Gal. 5:19), accept those in homosexual and lesbian relationships (sin, I Cor. 6:9, Rom. 1:26-27) and condone and fellowship adulterous marriages (Matt. 19:9). These deceivers are guilty of rejoicing in iniquity, not loving God, and being religiously injurious to all in their wicked deceptions! Their churches are full of iniquity and their members love to have it so (2 Tim. 3:1-5, 4:3).

In The House of Public Issues  Here is information on the National Cathedral in D.C. hosting same-sex nuptials. This is a present example of the fallacy of human conventions making man made laws and binding them on their church. Such displays how corrupt churches really are! This includes a brief history of the EPISCOPAL CHURCH and its progression into gay marriage. The Anglican fellowship and Church of England’s love for human tradition is also exposed as they battle for Women Bishops.

Why Churches Fear Applying “Scriptural Authority” ~ Selected Newspaper Articles  The outright fear of LOCAL CHURCHES to study and apply “Scriptural Authority.” When a group practicing that which is immoral is given status “civilly” --- suddenly it is “hate speech” when others continue as they always have to identify “religiously” a specific immorality; those claiming to be for freedom of speech want censorship while crying Phobia! Hate! All must uniformly speak as “they” else the motives are to be impugned and the characters assassinated. A great weakness and lack of respect for “religious” freedom of speech is seen in objecting to specific sins being identified and requiring that others speak in generalities.

There Is No Such Thing as Sprinkling or Pouring for Baptism  Many members of Christ’s church have come out from human denominations in order to be such. They came to understand that modes of baptism other than that taught in the New Testament are additions to God’s word and do not save. In denominations offering options for baptism “CHURCH MANUALS” override immersion by stating baptism may be administered to believers by sprinkling, pouring or immersion. Many falsely view baptism as a “sacrament” and not what it is, i.e. an initial step of obedience necessary for the forgiveness of sins. This explains why some wait until they have a group they can baptize. Why not read this article to understand neither sprinkling nor pouring are authorized as an option for baptism?

Why I Am Not A Nazarene  This article written by B.J. Bronger explains, as one who at one time was in the Nazarene church, the injustices done to the Lord’s plan of salvation by the church of the Nazarene. We invite you to read this carefully for many find themselves in either his or similar circumstances found in denominationalism. Here is an excellent example of the detriment of CHURCH MANUALS written by men that stand in opposition to the New Testament requirements for salvation.

“I’m Staying with Zoom” The current pride in technology denominational invite is “Worship online or in person here.” We must be certain that what we do with high tech is scriptural as regards the work and worship of Christ’s church. If “zoom” and “online” are let stray, as some among us already have, then you will have a developed human tradition that will cause many to lose their souls. The impact itself on the body of Christ can be like a spreading spiritual virus in years following upon member’s zeal for assembling (Cf. Eph. 4:14; 2 Tim. 2:17; Heb. 10:24-27). You must know the difference between the word “home” and “house” and “houses” and the words “come together as a church” and “assembling of ourselves together” and “in the church” read here for proper definitions that lead to proper applications of what it means to ASSEMBLE TOGETHER.

DO BRETHREN KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE WORD “HOME” AND “HOUSE” AND “HOUSES” AND THE WORD “ASSEMBLY” OR “CHURCH”?

Included in the instruction (sound doctrine) for the partaking of the Lord’s Supper:

1Co 11:17 Now in giving these instructions I do not praise you, since you come together not for the better but for the worse.

1Co 11:18 For first of all, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you, and in part I believe it.

Application: In I Cor. 11:18 “as a church” is not at home!

1Co 11:22 What! Do you not have houses to eat and drink in? Or do you despise the church of God and shame those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you in this? I do not praise you.

IS A HUMAN TRADITION BEING DEVELOPED NOW AMONG CHURCHES?

Are brethren being led to believe that an online presentation is “assembling”?

Jesus Came to Fulfill the Law (Matt. 5:17-18) People are quick to quote these passages to justify using a combination of the Mosaic Law (Old Testament or Covenant) along with the New Testament. This is used for any number of things, but especially for items of worship that they particularly like that cannot be justified by the New Testament teaching concerning the church of Christ. The attraction of special clothing (cf. Ex. 28) for ministers and priests, along with the use of instruments, candles, incense, etc. would be examples. Demanding CIRCUMCISON along with wanting to bind the Old Covenant upon the church is refuted by Paul as an example of seeking justification by the Law and falling from grace (Gal.5:1-4). Paul said the Jews blinded by the Law were holding to a ministry of death and condemnation (2 Cor. 3:4-16). But when they turned to Christ and His New Covenant that blindness would cease (I Cor. 3:12-16).

God Turns The Way Of The Wicked Upside Down  This lesson considers the path of the wicked that is a familiar topic throughout the Psalms. You will learn about the wicked by the following: (1) God thwarts the way of the wicked (Ps. 146:9); (2) God puts the wicked in great fear because He despises them! (Ps. 53; Lev. 26:14-33); (3) Accusers are filled with their own ways (Ps. 109). God CLOTHES the wicked with shame and dishonor! (4) You will learn about the purpose of their traps they set for the righteous; (5) God overthrows the best of secret counsel (Ps. 64).

"What went you out…to see?"  Points on CLOTHING include anxiety from Jesus Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 6:25-34); the use of "clothing" as a metaphor in warning against false religious teachers who come in sheep’s clothing (Matt. 7:15); religious hypocrites who dress to be seen of men (Matt. 23); what it means to present one's self as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God (Rom. 12:1-2), is viewed in the light of proper CLOTHING and conduct (I Tim. 2:8-9).

Human Life And Cloning  This article contains a simplified explanation of what human CLONING might consist of for the benefit of all. Additionally there are Scriptures from the Bible concerning human life and spirit of man. And this along with some Questions for one's own meditation.

“What Do You Mean By Collective Responsibility?”  One asked, “Oh yes, and what do you mean by COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITIES?” When carefully considering the New Testament scriptures that present individuals not acting “individually” you can see the importance of COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITIES such as belonging to, worshipping and working with a local church belonging to Christ.

How a Lesson on Humility Became a “Church Ordinance”   Jesus did wash His disciples’ feet and the lesson explained in that context is that they must serve one another. However Ellen G. White, a supposed prophetess of the Seventh-day Adventist church, takes it upon herself to teach that the Lord’s Supper is to be preceded by a “foot washing” as a church ordinance. This lesson should help one to understand the difference between INDIVIDUAL OBLIGATIONS and the “COLLECTIVE” WORKS God gave for the local church as a functioning body or organization.

Withdrawal: Family Reunions, Vacations, Special Days etc. This article presents the local church’s COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY to withdraw from a member who walks disorderly, as well as each individual Christian’s duty to not associate with any brother who leads an unruly life. The “individual” responsibility is often overlooked in teaching and practice in churches. It includes information on invites and feasts found in the New Testament. Verses include Matt. 18:15-17; I Cor. 5:11; 2 Th. 3:6, 14, 15; 2 Cor. 2:6-8[B1] .

Has Someone Pulled The Plug From Your Life?  Jesus said, COME unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” Matthew 11:28 (KJV). Read this article if you are concerned for those, possibly yourself, who never understand how to find happiness or satisfaction in life.

“All You Really Have To Do Is Believe In God”  Jesus said, “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven” (Matt. 7:21). Please look below for HOW ONE COMES TO CHRIST.

Points made concerning both the Father’s will and JESUS are:

  1.   Jesus did the will of the father who sent Him (cf. John 6:37-38).

  2.   Jesus’ words are the Father’s (John 17:14, 17).

  3.   Jesus was seeking the Father’s glory not His own (Jo. 7:17-18).

  4.   Jesus’ authority was the Father’s! (Read John 12:48-50).

  5.   Jesus gave us the Father’s word which is truth (John 17:14, 17).

  6.   One cannot COME TO CHRIST except by the will of the Father (Jo. 6:37).

  7.   The Father’s will is that you believe in Jesus His Son (Jo. 6:45).

  8.   The “work of God,” or requirement of God is that one believes in Jesus whom He

         has sent (John 6:26-29).

  9.   The Father’s will is that eternal life comes through belief in Christ (John 6:40).

10.   Eternal life is gained by knowing His Father and the Son whom He sent (Jo. 17:3).

11.  Jesus is the only way to the Father (Jo. 14:6).

12.  The doing of the Father’s will establishes one’s relationship with Christ (Matt. 12:50).

13.  Those who do believe will not perish (Jo.3:16).

14.  The belief in Christ that saves is a belief that obeys Him, else the wrath of God abides upon one (cf. Matt. 7:21; Jo. 3:36; Heb. 5:9).

15.  The one who doesn’t believe God has given us eternal life in His Son makes God a liar ( I John 5:10-11).

16.  This is all based in the Scriptures (John 5:39; De. 18:18-19).

17.  Jesus didn’t say that they “can’t” believe and obey but they “would not” (John 8:24).

18.  His word which was the Father’s necessitates baptism for initial obedience in order that one might be saved (cf. Matt. 28:18-20 “all” authority for “all” nations; Mk. 16:15-16; Acts 16:31; Acts 22:16 an example of Saul obeying the Son of God).

19.  Christ was “end of the Law” (Rom. 10:4). Both Jew and Gentile are saved the same way by obeying the Gospel (Rom. 1:16, 17, Rom. 3:29-30).

20.  To believe in Christ is to believe in the Father (cf. John 12:44-45). Of course, for that is the Father’s will! (see above)

21.  To reject Christ is to reject the Father’s word (cf. John 12:48-50, 14:24). Read the boldness of Peter and John in the newspaper article above (Acts 4:12-13).

22.  To receive Christ is to receive the Father (cf. John 13:20). Jesus told why some do not receive Him (cf. John 5:43-44).

23.  If you don’t love Christ you don’t keep the Father’s words (cf. John 14:24).

24.  If you keep the Father’s will you will keep Christ’s commandments (cf. John 14:15, 24, 12:49).

25.  To abide in Jesus’ love is to abide in the Father’s love (cf. John 14:21, 15:9-10; I John 4:16).

26.  To be in Christ is to be in the Father (cf. I John 4:15-16).

27.  Knowing the Son is knowing the Father (cf. John 14:7-10, 1:18, 10:15; Matt. 11:27 Plain!).

28.  If you deny the Son you do not have the Father (cf. I John 2:23). You’ve called God a liar! (I John 5:10). You will die in your sins (John 8:24). Those who deny the Son are in the power of Satan (I John 5:19-20).

29.  Whoever confesses the Son has the Father (cf. I John 2:23).

30.  Does the Father’s will really say all that one must do is believe in God in a very general way? No!

This becomes, when we understand the expression “the will of My Father,” the very lesson people need who say Jesus is Lord and then profess there are other religions that lead to the Father that don’t believe Jesus is Lord (cp. Lk. 6:46). And again, notice in our study what knowing and doing “the will of My Father” does to the statement often heard, i.e. all you have to do is believe in God.

About the Label “Advertisement” On Our Articles   I’m often asked why there is a label of “advertisement” at the bottom of the church’s articles. They’ll often say, “No one else’s does, why yours?” The newspaper places it there. Consider however that our articles tell people about the church of Christ in the New Testament and it is obvious that the content is what we are seeking to get forward (Cf. 1 Tim. 3:15). There should be a distinct difference in what a church of Christ presents to the community, and that of the various false religions. And there is if the church is doing its work as it should. By refusing the often sought “marketing approach” the Truth becomes apparent. Included is an exposure of the oft used “Try Us And You’ll Like Us” pitch. People should be implored to COME to the light of God’s word, and not COME because they’ll “like” the flattery, the socials and entertainment. Most mere advertisements seek to take away the thought that immoralities will be preached on so that one can see their self in the true light of the Scriptures (read Jo. 3:19-21).

The Way of Integrity Psalms 119 This Psalm is often avoided because of its length. This study begins with eight points on integrity with God. It is on the grounds of your integrity that you may plead to God for protective care against the wicked (Ps. 119:121-128). Because he did not want to wander from God the scriptures would be his counselors (lit., the men of his counsel) to establish his ways. Through knowledge of the scriptures he would be able to COMFORT himself for he had learned that God is faithful to His promises!

Things Often Missing During Afflictions Applications in this brief study  deal with those who are in affliction. Dear reader, you will notice that with God has no pleasure with some; for others they see God’s faithfulness during their afflictions. God’s word revives, strengthens, and COMFORTS during afflictions! Why not read this either for yourself or with a view to being able to help another?

The Majority Know Another Jesus The church at Corinth gladly tolerated fools who taught another Jesus and different gospel (cf. 2 Cor. 11:4, 19).  It is possible today for one to read the literature of fools and possess a completely false view of Jesus. Read the Gospels for yourself and see what He really did do and teach. Here’s a start with applications from the Gospels themselves that show the stark differences between what most think Jesus taught and what He really did teach! Verses are presented that deal with: (2) NOT COMING to Christ for fear that one’s evil will be identified

Excuses ~ Oldies Are Still the Goodies! There’s nothing so entertaining to some as tuning in to the “Oldies” program on their available radio network. Some of those hits you just don’t get tired of hearing, and there are some excuses for evading scriptural authority that you are always hearing from those who never tire of using them. Here are several oldies that are still goodies for those disrespecting scriptural authority: I. We are all part of the body of Christ; II. The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; III. Jesus said, I am the vine and ye are the branches; IV. God loves sinners too; V. We’ve all been left under human tradition; VI. Only God can judge another; VII. I’d never tell you that you are in the wrong church; VIII. Never place a period where God has placed A COMMA.

How Can One Understand the Word of God? (A Brief Study of Scriptural Authority)  Most churches never speak out on the necessity of having “scriptural authority” for what one believes and practices. In fact, most are not willing to deal with the subject because of the lack of authority for things they are doing. Here is a brief study on how to establish scriptural authority by using Statements, COMMANDS, Examples, and Necessary Inferences found in the Word of God. Each person is expected to read and understand God’s Word, just the same as if someone gave them an important set of instruction dealing with their work, or health, to read for their own benefit.

Before brethren justify something based upon expediency they must first state the authorized work, need or thing COMMANDED to be done.

If you love God you will keep His commandments (cf. Jo. 14:15, 21, 23; I Jo. 5:6). To “not” love God is to “not” keep His commandments (Jo. 14:24). Loving your neighbor is not allowing your friend to sin and not reproving him!

A Review of “Questions of Women’s roles…requires grace, humility” by Cana Moore (Part One) Part One: Here is an article concerning WOMEN’S ROLES in the church. It especially centers on the woman is not to USURP AUTHORITY over a man in I Tim. 2:12. Paul said: 1Ti. 2:11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 1Ti. 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.” I’ve got some things I want to say that I believe apply to some of the contexts in the article; the article should elicit thoughts of your own as well.

You will find key points made concerning the necessity of our KEEPING CHRIST’S COMMANDMENTS and ABIDING IN HIS LOVE by WALKING according the works He prepared for us from eternity before the world began.

A Review of “Questions of Women’s roles…requires grace, humility” by Cana Moore (Part Two)  Part Two: Here is an article concerning WOMEN’S ROLES in the church. It especially centers on the woman is not to USURP AUTHORITY over a man in I Tim. 2:12. Paul said: 1Ti. 2:11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 1Ti. 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. I’ve got some things I want to say that I believe apply to some of the contexts in the article; the article should elicit thoughts of your own as well.

You will find key points made concerning the necessity of our KEEPING CHRIST’S COMMANDMENTS and ABIDING IN HIS LOVE by WALKING according the works He prepared for us from eternity before the world began.

Commending Myself to Others  This article deals with a point often overlooked when teaching on the conscience. “Conscience” here is the other person’s perception! Rather than having approval in my own conscience concerning myself, here the approval (COMMENDING) is in others’ consciences. It’s like saying, “How do you feel about me now?” Why not consider studying this applicable lesson for Christians?

A Case Study of Mourning Sin:  This article explains in detail what it truly means to mourn the sins we see others commit.  We mourn the sins of others when we are willing to engage in controversy, choose appropriate examples of disobedience from the Scriptures and demand a COMMITMENT (Nehemiah 13:23-27). Several applicable points are presented.

Memory #3 of 3  This is the third portion of a brief series on “Memory” (April, May and June 2016). We fail in not using memory to prevent spiritual danger and destruction. Also there is the necessity of being reminded to be ready for every good work. God’s people are to maintain good works for necessary uses (to meet urgent needs), that they be not unfruitful (Titus 3:14). When you “forget” you neglect brethren in dire circumstances and no longer care for them spiritually in prayer or in material assistance.  We are admonished “…to do good and to COMMUNICATE (*share) forget not…” (Heb. 13:16). When brethren are “sharing” things are good for all who are worthy, and there’s no reason for any member to be overly anxious about material things.

Have you changed the pattern for the Lord’s Supper because of the Virus to please yourself? So what is this thing that some brethren in small groups, at home, etc. are partaking of the LORD’S SUPPER? One of the concerns brethren have had is that some would do that and change the saints assembling together to break bread (Acts 20:7; I Cor. 11: 17, 18, 20, 33). Brethren viruses do not change that! The pattern is that the Lord’s Supper was in a planned assembly of the local church for that purpose, and partaken of by those Christians who assembled (Acts 20:7; I Cor. 11:33). You don’t throw that out just because of a Pandemic! How lightly do some think of scriptural authority? *See the “INIDIVIDUAL COMMUNION” articles along with this.

A Review of Bob Owen’s “Individual Communion” Here is a review of Bob Owen’s “Individual Communion” talk he gave concerning the LORD’S SUPPER and the corona virus restrictions. He presented no scripture that justifies his teaching that the individual may take the Lord’s Supper at home outside the assembly of the local church. The Lord set the venue for the Lord’s Supper is a planned assembly of the local church for that purpose. Those Christians who assembled partook together (Acts 20:7; I Cor. 11:18, 20, 33).

Addendum to A Review of Bob Owen’s “Individual Communion” Here are further comments on Bob Owen’s “INDIVIDUAL COMMUNION” talk and on the LORD’S SUPPER. It takes a closer look at the context of I Cor. 11: 17-34.

I’m Ok, You’re Ok! Really? Truthfully – the use of a Principle  “How popular has the so called principle “that anything a person does in violation of his own conscience is sinful” become? Is there not a longstanding history of the misuse of Rom. 14 in the brotherhood? Wouldn’t that of itself cause one to proceed with caution should a new teaching of “INDIVIDUAL COMMUNION” and the LORD’S SUPPER using this Rom. 14 “principle” be spreading through the church? (Cf. I Th. 5:21).”

Vindication Based Upon One’s Righteousness, Integrity This study is linked with a prior article and is a continuation of integrity as defined from Psalms 119, as well as other Psalms. For the first article see the introduction. In this study you will find such points as: (1) Pleading for protection against the wicked, (2) One’s hope for deliverance, (3) Asking God for vindication, (4) Who is fit for COMMUNION with God, (5) What preserves when in distress, (6) The “I Haves” of integrity, and (7) David’s integrity.

The Way of Integrity Psalms 119 This Psalm is often avoided because of its length. This study begins with eight points on integrity with God. Follow these application is made from each of the remaining sections. Understand that it is on the grounds of your integrity that you may plead to God for protective care against the wicked (Ps. 119:121-128). The author is a COMPANION of all who fear God, because he considered his ways and turned his feet! These are but a few of the good lesson presented through studying this Psalm. Why not read the article and while doing so read it along with your Bible?

Withdrawal: Family Reunions, Vacations, Special Days etc. This article presents the local church’s collective responsibility to withdraw from a member who walks disorderly, as well as each individual Christian’s duty to NOT KEEP COMPANY with any brother who leads an unruly life. The “individual” responsibility is often overlooked in teaching and practice in churches. It includes such verses as Matt. 18:15-17; I Cor. 5:11; 2 Th. 3:6, 14, 15; 2 Cor. 2:6-8 as well as information on invites and feasts found in the New Testament.

Age Old Sayings Of Complacency  We often speak of “age old philosophies” in the context of them being man’s flimsy excuses wherein he justifies himself in ungodliness. Solomon said there is nothing new under the sun. Why not take a trip through the ages and look at some age old sayings of COMPLACENCY along with the type of individuals who make them?

The Conduct God Expects From Our Members  Read this article and it should help you to better understand the "unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace" (Eph. 4:1-3; Col. 3:12-14). These 7 Virtues are discussed as being necessary for each member of the local church: Lowliness (Humility), Meekness (Gentleness), Longsuffering (Patience), Forebearing (Showing Tolerance), Tender Mercies (a Heart of COMPASSION), Kindness and Forgiving one another. Understanding these in this context answers such important questions as: Whom can I talk to? When do I go to another? Can I speak publicly in rebuking to thus maintain this unity? What would a refusal to listen indicate? And what happens to one who does not forgive if one repents?

Principles For Helping One Another  Listed in these principles is giving to others because I have been given to myself at my time of need. This stems from COMPASSION (Matt. 18:27, 33). Perhaps you need to read up on some of the improper motives for helping another. You can find some listed here!  Also, you can learn more, perhaps, concerning the improper attitudes manifested towards those who do fulfill their duty to help others.

Be Successful Where You Are  The article encourages local churches to be successful in liberality or giving (I Cor. 16:1-3). You will notice that we are to be taught to be good at imparting. COMPASSION shown through rendering aid to saints in need brings God’s blessings in return!

Memory #3 of 3  This is the third portion of a brief series on “Memory” (April, May and June 2016). This article’s emphasis is on not using memory to prevent spiritual danger and destruction, letting greed overpower remembering God’s presence in times past, using memory to correct one’s life and the necessity of being reminded to be ready for every good work. Israel’s constant COMPLAINING (MURMURING) towards God that they had been brought out into the wilderness to be killed by thirst and starvation led to the destruction of many (Cf. Nu. 11:1 at Taberah; 11:33-34 at Kibrothhathtaava).

Things in Christ not found in Islam  One simple but effective way of explaining the difference between a major “world” religion and the gospel of Christ (the New Testament, Matt. 26:28) is to show the things found “in Christ” that are not found elsewhere. Christians are COMPLETE in Christ (Col. 2:10) and have all things necessary for salvation through Him.

A Case Of Compromise The primary part of this study concerns Jehoshaphat (the king of Judah) and his COMPROMISE with wicked Ahab the king of Israel (the northern kingdom). It compares Ahab's religion with the description of Jehoshaphat who did not let the Levitical service and the Temple deteriorate, but was diligent in having the law of God taught in Judah (2 Ch. 17:6-9). There are eleven questions on COMPROMISE for one to consider as they read 2 Ch. 18-19. This simple lesson shows why people COMPROMISE the Truth along with the attendant consequences for doing such.

Selected Newspaper Articles   These are selected articles that appeared in our local newspaper, The Sun. The intent of these articles is that each shows a love for and desire to present the Truth without incorporating the emotional flavor so popular with other religious bodies today. Included in these short articles is “War Protesters.” This article is about the great spiritual warfare that is being waged against Satan today. Those on Satan’s side protest with “Peace, peace, when there is no peace” (cf. Ezek. 13:10). For such war protesters the only evil is another’s intolerance! These protesters brag on themselves, with their fleshly wisdom, while speaking against those who are striving to please God and not man (cf. Jo. 5:44; 12:43). They are cowards who fear man and not God! They COMPROMISE with Satan being driven by their own lusts to gain wealth, status, power and acceptance with man (cf. Ja. 3:14).

God Turns The Way Of The Wicked Upside Down  This lesson considers the path of the wicked that is a familiar topic throughout the Psalms. You will learn about the wicked by the following: (1) God thwarts the way of the wicked (Ps. 146:9); (2) God puts the wicked in great fear (Ps. 53); (3) Accusers are filled with their own ways (Ps. 109). This section tells you exactly what will happen to the wicked; (4) You will learn about the purpose of their traps they set for the righteous; (5) God overthrows the best of secret counsel (Ps. 64). They shoot from “CONCEALMENT” (SECRET) and without fear of God but only for a while, Ps. 64:2-4.

Demanding circumcision along with wanting to bind the Old Covenant upon the church is refuted by Paul as an example of seeking justification by the Law and falling from grace (Gal.5:1-4). Paul said the Jews blinded by the Law were holding to a ministry of DEATH and CONDEMNATION (2 Cor. 3:4-16). But when they turned to Christ and His New Covenant that blindness would cease (I Cor. 3:12-16).

Scriptures Governing Our Collective Worship You may never have heard about "Spontaneous Singing" as practiced in some churches. It could be that you've have observed one singing so loudly they drowned out the song leader and wondered if there were scriptures that might be used to correct such. Perhaps you would be interested in the scriptures that authorize a song leader and a church doing things decently and in order during worship. Decency and order are demanded in order to maintain a proper standard and CONDUCT suitable for worship.

So Somebody Told You a Christian Cannot Sin This larger article begins with two brief newspaper articles that illustrates the habit some develop of picking a favorite verse, or verses, without considering “all” that the New Testament teaches on a particular topic. Thus we have an example of “the favorite verses syndrome.” This happens to concern the matter of Christians and when they do sin. It includes important points and topics such as “God Knows,” “Why CONFESS?, “Our Advocate is Jesus Christ,” “The Wholeness of the Doctrine of Christ,” “God Gave Us His Word so We Can Practice Righteousness” and “When Considering the Devil and Christians.” Understand that John is emphasizing our “practicing righteousness” as our “walk” or manner of life (I Jo. 1:6, I Jo. 3:7). We are to walk in the light and not in darkness.

Membership Requirements According to the First Century Revelation This is Lesson Three in our Series: "Fundamental Lessons on the Church." Lesson Three: "Membership Requirements According to the First Century Revelation." In this lesson you will learn about what one must do to be saved and become a member of Christ's church. The question, "What must I do to be saved?" is fully answered as you study through the accounts of conversion recorded in Acts. The step of CONFESSING with the mouth that Jesus Christ is the Son of God is fully discussed as you read about the conversion of the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8.

A Study of Sin Confessed  This article addresses the responsibility that Christians have to CONFESS the sins they commit in order that they might be forgiven. It explores various reasons and motives that lay behind one's willingness to confess their wrongdoing.

They say believing (whatever that might be) is the important thing. This is wrong. Why not read these articles with this in mind? Then ask what does the New Testament really teaching concerning initial salvation? Articles included: 1. The So Called “Sinner’s Prayer” (Jan. 31, 2015); 2. A Wrongful Understanding of Confessing Sins (Feb. 28, 23015); 3. One Must CONFESS Jesus is the Christ the Son of God (Mar. 28, 2015); 4. There Is No Such Thing as “Infant Baptism” (April 25, 2015); 5. There Is No Such Thing as the “Altar Call” (May 30, 2015).

Things in Christ not found in Islam One simple but effective way of explaining the difference between a major “world” religion and the gospel of Christ (the New Testament, Matt. 26:28) is to show the things found “in Christ” that are not found elsewhere. CONFESSING with the mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in the heart that God raised him from the dead is important enough that one cannot be saved with it! (Rom. 10:9-10) You will find this under "Things Concerning the Resurrection."

The Beginning Point Leading To Salvation  This article should help anyone today who has come to realize that the variety of explanations offered today due to diverse human philosophies and beliefs have left many frustrated concerning the important matter of salvation. Three such beliefs: (1) the Pentecostal experience, (2) adults baptizing infants and (3) professing (CONFESSING) belief in Christ without required obedience in baptism are examined in the light of God's word and found wanting! If you will take your Bible and read each scripture in this brief study it will enable you to be honest with yourself (see Acts 17:11) about your own salvation. Moreover, it will help prevent the all too common occurrence of many misleading others by that with which they were led astray themselves.

“All You Really Have To Do Is Believe In God”  Jesus said, “Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven” (Matt. 7:21). See below for WHOEVER CONFESSES THE SON HAS THE FATHER.

  8.   The “work of God,” or requirement of God is that one believes in Jesus whom He has sent (John 6:26-29).

That is the Father’s will! (see above)

Human Creeds and Statements of Faith  Many believe that their church’s creed – often written long ago – is equal in authority to the New Testament scriptures. This article is written with the intent of showing that creeds and CONFESSIONS OF FAITH often contain error. Many statements of faith are written to “attract” by stating social goals. Sadly, these are lacking in stating truthfully what is necessary for one to believe and do in order to be saved. Even the ancient Apostles’ Creed is not enough!

2:17; Heb. 10:24-27). TO “Speak the things proper for sound doctrine you must know the difference between the word “home” and “house” and “houses” and the words “come together as a church” and “assembling of ourselves together” and “in the church.” Read here for proper definitions that lead to proper applications of what it means to “assemble together.”

The kind of SPEAKING DEMANDED is presented in the following points with the definitions given:

1. Showing oneself a lover of the truth is seen in SPEAKING the truth to one another (EPH. 4:20-25).

2. TO SPEAK, EXHORT and rebuke with all authority (TITUS 2:15)

3. PREACHING involves “REPROVE” [G1651], “REBUKE” [G2008] & “EXHORT” [G3870] (CF. 2 TIM. 4:2)

4. QUALIFIED ELDERS BOTH EXHORT (G3870) AND CONVICT or CONVINCE (G1651) THE GAINSAYSERS i.e. THOSE WHO CONTRADICT (G483) (Titus 1:9).

*GAINSAYERS [G483 antilegō] are those who speak against, contradict the truth. Strong’s definition: to dispute, refuse: - answer again, contradict, deny, gainsay (-er), speak against. From G473 anti – “indicating exchange, succession, for, instead of, in the place of” (Thayer 2.) and G3004 legō meaning “to speak, affirm, teach, advise etc. (Cf. Thayer definitions).

In The House of Public Issues Information on the National Cathedral in D.C. hosting same-sex nuptials. Here is a present example of the fallacy of HUMAN CONVENTIONS making man made laws and binding them on their church. Such displays how corrupt churches really are! This includes a brief history of the Episcopal Church and it progression into gay marriage.

Each individual is confronted with the task of seeking the approval of God as set forth in the Scriptures, over the approval of men. Nor must one allow their feelings or emotions to take precedent over the requirements of God’s word (cf. Pr. 14:12). Your parents and family tradition are not the standard of religious authority (cf. Matt. 10:34-37). One’s conscience is not the standard for there are examples where one believed they were right when wrong (cf. Acts 26:9). The preacher is not the standard for the preacher must be preaching the Word (cf. 2 Tim. 4:1-5; Gal. 1:8-9). The elders are not the standard for the elders must be upholding the Word (Titus 1:9). HUMAN CREEDS AND CONFESSIONS OF FAITH written by men are most often found among false standards used today, yet held in high esteem by men and institutions built by men.

Things Often Missing During Afflictions The applications in this brief study will deal with those who are in affliction.  Dear reader, you will notice that God has no pleasure with some; for others they see God’s faithfulness during their afflictions. One must endure and not cast away their CONFIDENCE (“boldness of speech”) during afflictions! Why not read this either for yourself or with a view to being able to help another?

A Request: Pray For Me! This article deals with Christians who request prayer on their behalf. "Ideally, when brethren pray for one another they have CONFIDENCE in each other's devotion and service to the Lord." Several points are made concerning the one making the request.

23); what it means to not be CONFORMED to this world but to present one's self as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God (Rom. 12:1-2).

Scriptures Governing Our Collective Worship You may never have heard about "Spontaneous Singing" as practiced in some churches. It could be that you've have observed one singing so loudly they drowned out the song leader and wondered if there were scriptures that might be used to correct such. . If so, then you'd be interested in this brief study.  Perhaps you would be interested in the scriptures that authorize a song leader and a church doing things decently and in order during worship. The Holy Spirit demanded such in order to maintain a proper standard and conduct suitable for worship. We must not create an atmosphere of CONFUSION!

109). This section tells you exactly what will happen to the wicked (4) You will learn about the purpose of their traps they set for the righteous. God’s power over them can make them ashamed (disappointed, confounded) and dishonored (feel insult, put to reproach and CONFUSION). (5) God overthrows the best of secret counsel (Ps. 64).

What Every Politician Needs to Know  Applicable lessons based upon David’s addresses, and of course God’s, to Solomon concerning his reign upon David’s throne form the background of this particular article. This article applies to politicians. Read about Solomon’s throne and exemplification of one of his own proverbs: “It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness” (Prov. 6:12). The article states what kings, rulers, officials, presidents, CONGRESSMEN, mayors and councilmen need to hear. Applications are also made from the book of Jeremiah and the Psalms denouncing oppression, fraud, extortion, cruelty and the destruction of the foundation of society.

Commending Myself to Others  This article deals with a point often overlooked when teaching on the conscience. “CONSCIENCE” here is the other person’s perception! Rather than having approval in my own conscience concerning myself, here the approval is in others’ consciences. It’s like saying, “How do you feel about me now?” Why not consider studying this applicable lesson for Christians?

A Request: Pray For Me! This article deals with Christians who request prayer on their behalf. One point given emphasis is: "Ideally, when brethren pray for one another they have confidence in each other's devotion and service to the Lord." Several points are made concerning the one making the request. Another point is, "Are they predicating their request on their own good CONSCIENCE and willingness to live honestly and soberly?"

Breaking Scriptural Patterns in Good Conscience Many refuse to recognize and admit that doctrinal matters are included in maintaining a good CONSCIENCE. In other words it is not as if one is always at liberty to do what they want. Just because one chooses to do something, thinks they can do it, and feels good about it doesn’t necessarily make it right! Now why not study about this important matter by reading the article?

The Foolishness In Forgetting God’s Word Trials should not cause us to forget God’s law! We can receive strength in remembering past trials we persevered in (Cf. Heb. 10:32-34). The one who perseveres does not shrink back! Those who depart from the faith are often seduced by liars who are defiled in both mind and CONSCIENCE. Why not read this article and acquaint yourself with what is happening when one forgets God’s law?

What Stubbornness Really Is The prophet Jeremiah had a lot to say about the stubbornness of God’s people. He pulled no punches but stated plainly the carnality involved. The purpose of this study is to ensure that we understand the importance of obedience being commanded us. The stubborn CONTEND with God, are punished, and yet while being punished go onwards to the point that God’s punishment painfully serious!

Selected Newspaper Articles for 2013 These newspaper articles from 2013 include: (1) “Using ‘Christendom’ to Cover Religious Error”; (2) “The Ways of the Street Mugger”; (3) “Murders, Murderers, Victims”; (4) “Surely not a Hot Head” – you see the fools lips in CONTENTION;  (5) “Surely not a Greedy Person.”

You saw it so deal with it!  You can read about the "immediate" approach of our Lord in correcting other others. This is followed with scriptures depicting the responsibility all members have to do the same. There is adequate instruction for those who tend to shy away from CONTROVERSY.

A Case Study of Mourning Sin:  This article explains in detail what it truly means to mourn the sins we see others commit.  For example, one point given is we mourn the sins of others when we are willing to engage in CONTROVERSY, choose appropriate examples of disobedience from the Scriptures, and demand a commitment, Nehemiah 13:23-27. . Several applicable points are presented.

In this lesson you will learn about what one must do to be saved and become a member of Christ's church. The question, "What must I do to be saved?" is fully answered as you study through the accounts of CONVERSION recorded in Acts.

Telling Members They Are Sinning In Deliberately Missing Church This article is one of the most needed and necessary lessons of our day. Beginning with a list of well known excuses offered by brethren from all over, the blame is placed where it should be and this is with the unfaithfulness of the church as a “whole.” Local churches are failing miserably in making certain of any particular member’s faithfulness, and thus not to be guilty of allowing unfaithfulness. Those in error are to be warned and exposed or CONVICTED of their sin (I Th. 5:14; Heb. 10:25-27). That “fear” is the main reason there is an obvious (manifest) attendance problem in so many churches is plainly stated. Members themselves are afraid of disciplining for fear of losing numbers, finances, status, etc. God’s people should be told their sins! Are you afraid to do that?

2:17; Heb.

Civil Government – A Hot Topic  The CORONA VIRUS ~ Civil government is a hot topic and for good reasons — just look at what covid19 restrictions have brought to our nation.

The Correct Delight of Kings “The appreciation of “the delight of kings” of Israel --- kept in proper context under the Old Covenant --- is seen in their fear of God and obedience to His commands given to Israel. The commands for them to love truth and righteousness, and some doing so, stands in contrast to the wickedness of CIVIL GOVERNMENT today!”

Covid Restrictions ~ Just Safety or Persecution Included The CORONA VIRUS ~ COVID19 RESTRICTIONS - Just what kind of “push” did you expect from the ungodly and unbelieving to make? Get the preachers out of the way – make them turn from the rightful order of things – let’s not hear about God and His law.

You saw it so deal with it! You can read about the "immediate" approach of our Lord in CORRECTING others. This is followed with scriptures depicting the responsibility all members have to do the same. There is adequate instruction for those who tend to shy away from controversy.

A Simple Biblical Pattern For Explaining “Why?”  A respondent who questioned the matter of judging those who live together without marriage stated, “I think these days it can be a good thing to live together before getting married....  This obviously goes against your feelings, but they're just your feelings, not everyone's." Last of all she stated, "As far as your last sentence, it's not an idea that it's acceptable and normal, these days, IT IS acceptable and normal.... If you don't like it, then don't do it.... I wouldn't criticize you...why do you judge about people who choose to live together?"
This individual wants to know “why” I would determine that people who choose to live together are wrong in doing so. I presumed this to be an honest question deserving of an answer.

In part one must understand that following a desire to know God's will as one reads the Bible they must learn to make the proper applications. Proper application necessitate distinguishing between what is "right" and what is "wrong." The scriptures provide instruction and CORRECTION so each may “thoroughly equipped for every GOOD work” (2 Tim. 3:16-17). “Instruction” in the Word plainly states that fornication as described above is a work of the flesh that leads to eternal destruction if not repented of (I Cor. 6:9; Gal. 5:19-21).

What Stubbornness Really Is The prophet Jeremiah had a lot to say about the stubbornness of God’s people. He pulled no punches but stated plainly the carnality involved. The purpose of this study is to ensure that we understand the importance of obedience being commanded us. The seriousness of this study is seen in that the stubborn contend with God, are punished, and while being punished go yet onwards towards that point where iniquity is great, sins are numerous, and God’s punishment painfully serious! Stubbornness contends with God in refusing to accept CORRECTION!

The Lies Of Apostasies  The full title of this article is “The Pattern Of Lies Producing and Sustaining Apostasies.” Read this article to study what Jeroboam did wrong when he said in his heart that God’s established order would not work. Also the article presents in detail the pattern of lies producing apostasies from the book of Jeremiah. Some important questions answered are: Why do lies prevail? How has the truth been affected? What Lies? What will God do in the end? Here is an excerpt: “Why do lies sustaining apostasies prevail? These lies prevail because they refused CORRECTION (Jer. 5:3).

The List That Justifies The Ungodly  Using the instruction from Prov. 9:7-9 that says, “Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate you…” this article deals with the ungodly who have no real concern for the whole of God’s commandments and doing all He requires (cf. Ps. 119:160). Such will often “keep records” (lists) of others’ sins that they have repented of. Such wicked “mark” another’s sins in order to use them against them in an unrighteous way! And of course their “list,” so far as they are concerned, is reason enough for them to reject reproofs and rebukes for their own present sins. The wicked do not love the one who rebukes them, neither will they go to the wise for COUNSEL! (Prov. 15:12).

Why We Rejoice With One Another  God delights over His people to do them good (De. 28:63). The Psalmist said, “Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart” (Ps. 97:11). We are commanded to rejoice with those who rejoice, and to weep with those who weep, being of the same mind one toward another (Rom. 12:15-16). Our being sorrowful when one is arrogant and suffers is different from sharing joy and sorrow as Paul spoke of. If one of us suffers because we remain arrogant and obstinate then our tears will be the tears of Jeremiah if we love them (cf. Jer. 13:17). “Rejoice with” applications in this article are (1) I Can Rejoice With One Who Is Faithful Whom I Know God Delights Over To Do Good; (2) I Can’t Rejoice With Another When I See The Vanity Of The World; (3) I Can Rejoice With One Who Rejoices In Truth; (4) I Can Rejoice With One Who Wants God’s Instruction and COUNSEL.

Sects, and Sects Among Us : here is an outline / notes, etc., on the sects of the Pharisees and Sadducees, as well as application to sects among us today. When speaking of the church Jesus said “I will build My church” (Matt 16:18). It is His church: 1Co 3:10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. All necessary correction (restoration) must be made back to the New Testament scriptural pattern for Christ’s church.”

6:12). This article states what kings, rulers, officials, presidents, congressmen, mayors and COUNCILMEN need to hear. Applications are also made from the book of Jeremiah and the Psalms denouncing oppression, fraud, extortion, cruelty and the destruction of the foundation of society.

The Way of Integrity Psalms 119 This Psalm is often avoided because of its length. This study begins with eight points on integrity with God. You will note that our inconsistencies are often our reproach in life. And that there is boldness in serving God when there are no inconsistencies. Understand that it is on the grounds of your integrity that you may plead to God for protective care against the wicked (Ps. 119:121-128). Because he did not want to wander from God the Scriptures would be his COUNSELORS (lit., the men of his counsel) to establish his ways.

Discontent followed by the “Curtain Call” followed by the “Go Get ‘Em Letter”  Illustrations present those who work hard to please self while COURTING man’s favor above God’s.

About The Covetous  Greed or COVETOUSNESS can be found at any level of society; the Bible makes no distinction as to social position or race. Things can change quickly for the COVETOUS and all such will ultimately find themselves in conflict with God. The covetous trouble their own house, Solomon said. They are a torment to themselves, bring strife and trouble their families, but are too dull spiritually to know wherein the problem lies. For another article on COVETOUSNESS read “Has Someone Pulled the Plug from Your Life” from the selected newspaper articles by clicking here .

Selected Newspaper Articles  Included is (3) “God Knows When Men Conceal the Truth” – a scriptural view of those who claim to preach God’s word while restraining their lips for COVETOUSNESS sake. Read what God says about those who hate the one who reproves sin and speaks uprightly; who hate the truth of God’s word that states the sins; who have changed the truth for a lie; who being COVETOUS and not fearing God flatter the arrogant rich and powerful in society; who are companions of those who lapse into falsehood for fear of being persecuted; who hate the good and love the evil. Such make up the list of those God knows (and those who study His word know) who would like to fix things to prevent true Christians from speaking about sins that damn the soul.

Selected Newspaper Articles for 2013  These newspaper articles from 2013 include: (1) “Using ‘Christendom’ to Cover Religious Error”; (2) “The Ways of the Street Mugger”; (3) “Murders, Murderers, Victims”; (4) “Surely not a Hot Head” and (5) “Surely not a Greedy Person” with points on COVETOUSNESS.

These protesters brag on themselves with their fleshly wisdom, while speaking against those who are striving to please God and not man (cf. Jo. 5:44; 12:43). They are COWARDS who fear man and not God!

Selected Newspaper Articles The following are selected newspaper articles ran by the Valley church of Christ for 2009-2010. We put some together periodically in order to post them on our website. Both churches and preachers would do well to consider that just offering a few scriptural points on important topics can go a long way in helping others. Consider the following points on (1) Why Pentecostal / Charismatic Tactics Easily Deceive; (2) Cowards and Hypocrites Seen ~ Complaining With No Intention Of Making Things Scriptural; (3) Stupid Kid’s Games Draw Customers; (4) Liberation Theology & Marxist Ideology; (5) Human Creeds & Statements of Faith

Turmoil in the Middle East ~ Assumptions Answered: Part of this article addresses the assumption that mankind is just like the dinosaurs and will end up destroying itself. Mankind (Man) identifies a distinct “class” – humans are not part of the animal kingdom (Gen. 1:26-28). God’s CREATION, the world and all material things, is held in His own power and He alone determines when it will come to an end (Heb. 1:10-12; 2 Pet. 3:7-10). This is an awareness that our society today is in great need of hearing and understanding. Man cannot properly understand his "place" here upon the earth without this knowledge.

Aliens and National Ignorance: The concerns of space aliens and extraterrestrial activity in recent balloon intercepts, present A TOTALLY WRONG PERSPECTIVE OF THE EARTH, LIFE HERE, AND MANKIND HAVING BEEN GIVEN THE EARTH AS A DWELLING PLACE (Gen. 1:26; Ps. 115:16). There are no space aliens! Here are points on the CREATION OF THE EARTH AND MANKIND.

(3) Surely Very Beneficial ~ The “Virtues” of Vulgar Language (4) The “Y” Chromosome ~ Surely “Men” Disappear in less than 5 Million Years.

Newspaper Articles Series: “For the Greatly Exploited Generation Z” These NEWSPAPER articles identify spiritual exploitations of the “Z” generation (2019-2020). Beginning with the truthful statement that God’s Word will not exploit you the way political correctness does --- these present God’s wisdom and power that exists far beyond mankind’s own wisdom and power. You must believe in a CREATOR to learn to put your life into His perspective and purpose for mankind (Ps. 89:11; Eccl. 12:13). You may read about the various ways generations, actually, have been deceived and thus think and act contrary to God’s revealed Word.

Selected Newspaper Articles Dear reader the following titles are selected newspaper articles that appeared in our local newspaper the Yuma Sun. The topics are: “The Buyer Is Like The Seller; The CREDITOR Is Like The Debtor” (What God’s word says about liars, cheats and murderers applies to all – the rich and poor!); “Wicked Kids, Teens, Beating & Stomping Others” (This exposes the lie, “Oh they’re just too young to know better!”); “Some Wrights Are So Wrong” (When so called “Pastors” are asked if John 14:6 is true and if they think Islam is another way to salvation, and then suggest that there is another path to the Father they deny what Jesus and the apostles taught! (cf. John 12:48).

Human Creeds and Statements of Faith Many believe that their church’s creed – often written long ago – is equal in authority to the New Testament scriptures. This article is written with the intent of showing that CREEDS and Statements of Faith often contain error. Even the ancient Apostles’ Creed is not enough! It is the whole of New Testament scriptures that must be taught (Acts 20:26-27, 32).

We put some together periodically in order to post them on our website. Both churches and preachers would do well to consider that just offering a few scriptural points on important topics can go a long way in helping others.      There Is No Such Thing as Sprinkling or Pouring for Baptism  Many members of Christ’s church have come out from human denominations in order to be such. For some, they came to understand that modes of baptism other than that taught in the New Testament are additions to God’s word and do not save. In denominations offering options for baptism their “church manuals” or Human CREEDS override immersion by stating baptism may be administered to believers by sprinkling, pouring or immersion. Many falsely view baptism as a “sacrament” and not what it is, i.e. an initial step of obedience necessary for the forgiveness of sins. This explains why some wait until they have a group they can so baptize. Why not read this article to understand neither sprinkling nor pouring are authorized as an option for baptism?

Selected Newspaper Articles for 2013 These newspaper articles from 2013. The lifestyles of CRIMINALS are seen in #2 and #3. Included are : (1) “Using ‘Christendom’ to Cover Religious Error”; (2) “The Ways of the Street Mugger”; (3) “Murders, Murderers, Victims”; (4) “Surely not a Hot Head” and (5) “Surely not a Greedy Person.”

So Called “Sex Change” & “Transgender”   Read this article and understand that so called sex change is actually genital mutilation. One who has undergone such tells what it actually is. Also notice here how those who have allowed the physicians, therapists and psychologists to talk them into such mock them, as well as the social hype that is promoting this today. Consider carefully the point here that some would saturate children with this nonsense – even beginning in grade school – telling them they’ll decided later what gender they want to choose. You will find definitions of Transgender, Gender Identity, Transexual and information on CROSS DRESSING here.

The Charge that Jesus was a Drag King Etc. A College professor has been quoted as saying Jesus was a drag king, pan-sexual, who was CROSS DRESSING and had lascivious desires at the Passover supper. This capped with Christ (God) lusting sexually after the Father (God) on the Cross. You’d think a “high” prof in a theological class would know God is Spirit and theirs is not a physical relationship. This article gets to the core error of one who held such a prestigious place among men – and of Sin and what Jesus had to say about it! There is no Sin in God (I Pet. 2:22). His Word reveals lewdness is expressed in one’s words and not just otherwise behavior. Evil imaginations and images stated in explanations such as we read are condemned throughout the New Testament. The only right thing to say about anyone accusing Jesus of lewdness (in word, thought or deed) is Christ’s own references to man’s heart and what comes out of it in his speech! You may read now about the filthy speech.

A Jewish Claim Refuted It is sometimes argued that the Bible's holding Jews responsible for the CRUCIFIXION of Christ might foster feelings of hatred towards the Jewish people in general. When one considers all of the circumstances connected with the death of Jesus who is called Christ (“Messiah” is translated Christ in the scriptures), still there is just no place for such a hatred. The two, hating any race and desiring any man's salvation just don't go together. Why not read this study and learn more about man's part in the CRUCIFIXION of Christ?

A Safe Deposit For My Treasures  Do you really want to go to heaven? This article contrasts the physical setbacks besetting those who suffered during the fires of 2003 with the eternal setbacks of not heeding Jesus instruction in Matt. 6:19-20. Why not refresh your mind by reading about heaven as a safe deposit for your treasures? Heaven is a place where there will be no more death, sorrow, CRYING, pain, curse or night - just eternal day (Rev. 21:1-4, 21:25-22:5).

Various Newspaper Articles from 2018 #2 Here are three NEWSPAPER articles from 2018: (1) Surely Know What A Pharisee Is ~ When Charging Others As One! (2) Surely Friends of Jesus! Those Who Accuse Others of “Legalism” for Obeying Christ’s Commandments (3) Surely Farfetched ~ The Church Can’t be About Religion or it is a CULT.

Speak Evil of No Man – But I Can Say… We find the admonition to “speak evil of no man” in Titus 3:2. To speak evil means to vilify, defame, or blaspheme. Most don’t know how to read the Bible. In the same verse we are not to be a brawler. If I call a brawler what he is, i.e., a brawler do I violate “speak evil of no man”? People pay no attention to what Jesus said and where he said it. Furthermore, they pay no attention to what hypocrites said to Him and when they said it. Finally, most pay no attention to what Jesus said and who He said it to! When it comes to SOCIAL, CULTURAL, AND POLITICAL ACTIVITIES, Christians deal with the immoralities as He did. The unfruitful works of darkness are to be reproved. (Eph 5:11-13). I’ll use Herod Antipas as the first example. Was he the fox Jesus said he was?

God Turns The Way Of The Wicked Upside Down  This lesson considers the path of the wicked that is a familiar topic throughout the Psalms. You will learn about the wicked by the following: (1) God thwarts the way of the wicked (Ps. 146:9); (2) God puts the wicked in great fear because He despises them! (Ps. 53; Lev. 26:14-33); (3) Accusers are filled with their own ways (Ps. 109). This section tells you exactly what will happen to the wicked. They love CURSING so it comes back upon them! Being filled with CURSING they are made to see God bless the one they CURSE; (4) You will learn about the purpose of their traps they set for the righteous; (5) God overthrows the best of secret counsel (Ps. 64).
